The bolded expresses what many might be thinking. There are many more Ekiti people in Delta state than there are Deltans in Ekiti, but we will never stoop to that level.
In my opinion, a poor state like Ekiti is really stirring up the hornets nest. I see other similarly poor states engaging in copy cat actions out of the very same debased bigotry that pushed the Ekiti governor to act the way he did. It is a very sad day indeed.

I said it, they guys in ekiti should not start what they cannot finish. This is not about delta state or being rich or poor. It is about discrimination. They should not put other yoruba people in bad light. If other states begin to eject ekiti peeps back to their "poor state" what would they say?

Was it not yaradua and his cabal using the famous[b] rule of law and due process[/b], that suspended the nipp project; sacked the special adviser who told them the truth, used bankole(first class thief) to set up the so called " power probe"- where is the report? And there after sold all the GE Turbines that were at the port instead of clearing them. They called obj a thief, but what did they do?

i find it quite unbelieveable how you guys seem to understand this situation. if you insist that delta state should take back their own from ekiti and other allied states, will you not in thesame breath ask delta to send back your own? should we all now descend to the level of discriminating against the physically challenged? ok you claim to be poor is now your reason to justify discrimination?

They don't seem to understand, its not about delta state. It about ethnic discrimination. They say ekiti people are in other states because ekiti is poor. How will they fill if these states(lagos, ogun, ondo, edo, delta, rivers. etc) send back all ekiti people? And especially disabled students in school.

Now that you have all successfully plunged your knives into Ekiti and tweaked them several times,you people should start asking a basic question why a state that receives billions of naira in fed. allocation ,on top of it a 13% derivation and lest i forget huge taxes from the multinational oil companies and its service companies would not/ cannot take care of its most vulnerable.
This write up contains little info. about the eviction story cos it isn't the real or the main point of the article and some of you are just going on about like its some flipping breaking news.

Oil companies never pay money to the state govns. All monies go to abj, that is why the oil companies are not responsible to the oil communities. The don't care if there is an oil spill or not, if you talk to them they will tell you to go to abj and if you insist; they will send they nigerian army after you.
The 13% you talk about is not much. They cost of construction in the niger-delta is the highest in naija. Do you know what it cost to construct roads in mangrove-swamps of the delta? Even amaechi that was talking tough, had to go and borrow money from the bond market. But still; education and health(for children and the elderly) is free. Whether you just arrived rivers yesterday or not, whether you are a rivers man or not. No discrimination.
In addition these students did not just arrive, they were already in school. This is not about delta state, it could be students from any other state. There is no justification for their actions.

My question is; how much is 30 students costing the ekiti state government? It is not as if they are living on "Park Lane" or some posh area of kensington and chelsea. embarassed

. Are they sleeping on golden beds? Why can't they reduce their salaries and allowances to save cost? So now that they have evicted those students, is ekiti going to be any richer? The answer is no.
It is a wrong and wicked decision.

There are yoruba peeps working in edo state government. Even in rivers state government, there was a time some rivers people were using it against odili. Even his adc (ola) was a yoruba guy. I know there are a lot of yorubas in warri, i did not just want to mention it. That was why i used rivers as an example. They are just trying to justify what is wrong.
I asked a question about[b] if niger-delta states reciprocated the gesture and they failed to give an answer.[/b]

This is exactly what I don't understand, why should one of the poorest states in Nigeria shoulder the burden of taking care of indigenes from one of the richest states?

If they came to Ekiti just to take advantage of better facilities, I think the government of Delta should be made to pay, rather than expell them.

The way you talk as if these people have the key to delta state treasury. They are disabled nigerian children. What sin have they committed? If adams oshimhole, uduaghan, amaechi or even fashola ask ekiti peeps in public schools that are free to pay fees, how would you feel?

In the uk places like south-east london, north london, east-london, birmingham, bedford, stoke-on-trent, nottingham, derby, bradford and some parts of liverpool and manchester are home to a large number of immigrants.

We are talking about nigeria here. People in nigeria move from one place to another everyday. Do you know how many people move to lagos, ph or abj on a daily basis.
Also the article did not state when the arrived ekiti. Even if the arrived yesterday, they have already been admitted into the school(or did they not know their state of origin before accepting them?). It is very likely that they have been in ekiti for a while, it is just a policy of the present governor. Which is not a good one.
Come to think of it, how much will 30 disabled students cost the ekiti state public treasury? And mind you they are being trained, so they can be independent in future. Niger-delta states are very nice to yoruba peeps. The gov. should not start what he can not finish. Even Bola Ige, Ambrose Ali, Niyi Adebayo, James Ibori, Ayo Fayoshe, Segun Oni, Emma Uduaghan did not discriminate. It is just inhumane.
You also did not respond to all the "good" works done by the states i listed to the yoruba peeps(especially ekiti-kete). wink

When i was in ph, primary to secondary education was free for all children(it is still free from what i hear). And i know that there are many yoruba children in ph( especially from ekiti state). Both of my neighbours were from ado-ekiti. There was even a time that the governor of ekiti ayo fayoshe visited peter odili and a street was named after ekiti state in ph. I know that rivers state assist everybody in that state(hausa and yoruba)
Also, rivers state sponsored a lot of yorubas(both muslim and christians) to go for pilgrimage from rivers state. All this was done, without considering their states of origin. Yoruba children enjoy free primary and secondary education in; edo, delta, rivers, bayelsa, akwa-ibom and cross-river state public schools. There is no discrimination.
Now how will you feel if gov. amaechi were to wake up one day and say only rivers children are not to pay school fees or all this other stuff. Here in the uk whether you are from bedfordshire, staffordshire or warwickshire does not matter. The county or borough you come from does not matter.
What is wrong is wrong. Removing disabled students from public schools is[b] wrong[/b].

A leading Islamist party has claimed victory in Tunisia's first democratic election, sending a message to other states in the region that long-sidelined Islamists are challenging for power after the "Arab Spring".

Official results have not been announced, but the Ennahda party said its workers had tallied the results posted at polling stations after Sunday's vote.

Almost three-quarters of those eligible to vote turned out for the first elections since the uprisings, which began in Tunisia and spread through the region.

"The first confirmed results show that Ennahda has obtained first place," campaign manager Abdelhamid Jlazzi said outside party headquarters in the centre of the Tunisian capital.

As he spoke, a crowd of more than 300 in the street shouted "Allahu Akbar!" or "God is great!" Other people started singing the Tunisian national anthem.

Kamel Jendoubi, head of the electoral commission, said the turnout was "over 60% and close to 70%" by 4pm UK time on Sunday - three hours before the polls closed.

The figure was beyond expectations despite what Mr Jendoubi described as some "soft" intimidation of voters.

He said this included street demonstrations and continued campaigning on voting day - which is against the rules - and that some parties had received warnings.

The elections are Tunisia's first since a popular uprising that overthrew its longstanding leader Zine El Abidine Ben Ali and set off similar rebellions across the Arab world.

Mindful that some people in Tunisia and elsewhere see the resurgence of Islamists as a threat to modern, liberal values, party officials said they were prepared to form an alliance with two secularist parties, Congress for the Republic and Ettakatol.

"We will spare no effort to create a stable political alliance , We reassure the investors and international economic partners," Jlazzi said.

Sunday's vote was for an assembly which will sit for one year to draft a new constitution. It will also appoint a new interim president and government to run the country until fresh elections late next year or early in 2013.
