Uktocanada: Or better still before she leaves Naij’s let her open a pounds domiciliary account so that when she earns in her Naira account to retain the value she can get someone to change black market for her in Nigeria and deposit to that Nigerian dorm account.
This is good so as not to tamper with your foreign account in the UK and be on the safe side. Nice! |

mimilyrics: You can't run any form of business as a student. See attached screenshot on some examples of self-employment as a student. This is serious. What if she continues the online stuff and receive money from it through her Nigerian account and then finds a way to send it to her UK account or look for someone in UK who can swap £ for #(transfer through mobile banking)? wallg123: As a tech expert you can get the answers to your question online. Just search for IT jobs online for the type of job you interesting around the city of your intended University. You’ll only be entitled to work 20Hrs per week during school term since you are a student ...but during holidays you can work 24/7 a week if u like ...lol..
Lastly use this sites to search for jobs : indeed.com Reeds.com Totaljobs. and also LinkedIn... Okay, thanks. LagosismyHome: Freelancers most likely would be paid by self employment or limited company. Both you cannt do on tier 4 visa
If the company payrolls you as a staff then its possible . However to find an agency that would payroll a freelance is almost impossible I just learnt about this. Thanks. Aphrodite007: If by “available” you mean:
Are freelance jobs just sitting around waiting for you?
Or
Do freelance jobs exist for Devs?
The answer to the first is “leemao!”, while the answer to the second is, “baba na IT person you be, why you dey ask this kain question when just fit google??”
Register on fiverr. Maybe I should have asked another way. I've gotten my answer though. Thanks. |

toyclicks: Hi Fam.
Wow! Good to drop in here as a testifier to this place. Hope y'all doing fine.
Ok so....quick one. Let me share my experiences so far I now understand why ppl abroad find it difficult to have time. You almost have to plan your breath. Time is really a scarce commodity here. I don't know how all the good ppl here @justwise, @mimilyrics, @stenon et all. I don't know how you find time for this forum ooo. You were and are still a blessing. Whatever way you have been able to keep squeezing out the time to help ppl here, I would say its worth every part of it. Being a part if so many ppl's life journey and being a blessing to them is worth all the effort. So pls as God helps you, don't get tired.
Now....let me say this bitter truth. A bitter truth that ppl on this forum have quarrelled with Justwise for saying. This ppl included me.
This is not the best time to come to the Uk.. IOW, if you have the means to still chill in Nigeria for 6-12months, sadly, I would advise you to do so.
However, if you want to come and join us to whether this terrible tough period, I am not discouraging you. You are welcome.
I wish us all the best we can be.
Cheers to y'all. I hope to share more and sweeter experiences later TheGuyFromHR: And lastly, I read one of the comments somewhere where someone was asking something about drafting a letter explaining gaps in his CV, and someone (I think it was our main man Cyberknight, who always goes direct to the point), told him not to bother, that the UK wants foreign students to come in and fund its universities with their fees for the foreseeable future. This is true, and related to that, everyone who has left or plans to leave Nigeria with no going back should be ready for the vastly reduced epxerience they are going to get. Like I say, read, read, read the damn UK papers before you come (The Guardian is free to read online, you could also take out a free trial subscription to the Tory papers online The Times or The Telegraph to get an idea of government thinking) so you know what awaits you. I am pretty disgusted with many of the Nigerian students we've been meeting here, I find them idiotic for investing all that money and still being astounded at the situation here on arrival. Omo!!!! |

efepeppereski: Yeah, the servicicom officers told to go get a white file and directed me to that particular office, where they arrange my documents and told me they will contact me to inform me when to come for capturing. Though, my interview date is December 3rd. Is it the date of the interview that capturing is normally done? I am a bit worried as what they told me is different from what I got from this thread. I am planning to go there on the date of my interview for capturing. Oh you're a fresh applicant. Maybe you'll do the capturing same day with the interview. |

efepeppereski: I just came back from there now. I went to submit my documents, but the officer that attended to me told me they will let me know when to come back for capturing. I thought I am supposed to do my capturing today, but she said they will get back to me on that. For those that did DIY in Ibadan, is this the normal process? When to come back for capturing?? Sounds somehow. Was it SERVICOM officers? |

THURAFTERNOON: thanks bro ; this was the exact reason I came here for help but I really don't know how the cost price got inflated from 17k to 26k too. possibly someone can hint me on what went wrong before I go ahead to make payment. Renewal is 17k. Fresh passport is 26k. So, I guess you're applying for fresh passport. If its for renewal, go back and start the application for renewal. |

SandraDee: I used GTBank but I had to transfer the funds to my Paga wallet like you would do to any other bank account. Just choose Paga as the beneficiary bank and use your Paga account number as the beneficiary's account number. Your registered account name with Paga should pop up. Hi Sandra. Have you travelled yet? |
