But you made it look like all that you said that day was a joke naw. Abi Icon4s was right when he said that you really meant all that you said and that the joke thing was an afterthought to do damage control after your received so much flak for your melt down.
No mind Chriskel. Let him continue enjoying the feeling of predicting our lose.

As good as Ekong is, I will choose Awaziem anytime, any day ahead of him. Awaziem is faster, tackles more clinically and always jumps to fight in aerial duels.
Is it the same Awaziem we know already or another?

Will it not be possible to start Iheanacho with Ighalo and put Moses and Iwobi on the wings like we did in USA94 instead of using a lone striker upfront and our wingers dropping back all the time to help in defense?
A 4-4-2. That can also work

I agree with you on one thing, that own goal was not Etebo's fault. That was a well executed set piece that was on course to go in whether Etebo's leg was in the way or not. I don't even think Etebo's leg even touched the ball to be honest.

Other then that let's tell ourselves the truth we played bad yesterday. They we're playing area boy football, just passing that ball around and running aimlessly as if the purpose of playing football is not to score a goal. We can't keep coddling these guys. They're grown men that are being paid a fortune.

I know some people won't like what Im about to do but I dont really care. Although its looking very bleak mathematically we still have chance to progress. Croatia is in the driver seat with 3 points but its a 3 way race between us, Iceland and Argentina. If we win our next two games we'll be destined for the round of 16 with 6 points and there will be no way Iceland or Argentina can get over 5 points. It's a tough mountain to climb but it's possible, as long as Nigeria abandons the nonsense they played yesterday.
Going into that game, Croatia were the favorites considering the quality they have especially in the midfield.

I was expecting us to be on the back foot for most of the game and thriving on counters but we wrestled the midfield with them.

We didn't create too many chances but Uzoho didn't really make point blank saves either.

We were just unlucky with the own goal. That ball was not goal bound. Etebo's right foot deflected it in.

I expect us to give a better performance against Iceland.

Though Mikel didn't bring his A game but he didnt play as badly as peeps here make it seem. On people blaming Rohr for playing him in the AM position is it not the same player that played the position all through the qualifiers and was hailed by all? He has done well repeatedly in that position so it was a no brainer for Rohr to start him there.

No we did not play well. The game was the worst game so far. The Nigerians made it boring. We are going home early. The first game mattered and if we had lost but played well then I'd be optimistic however we played baddddd. These Croatians are not good but they played very cautiously whereas Nigeria played with fear and no imagination at all
Oga you think you were playing against Algeria, Zambia or Cameroon?

This was the best game the Eagles have played this year.

Don't know what game you were watching but we didn't play well. Not at all. Croatia had a tougher game against Senegal in the friendlies.

Honestly speaking, overall the boys played well.

Our midfield did excellently well to match the Croats.

The own goal was unfortunate. No fault of either Etebor or Uzoho. It was just bad luck.

Ekong's foul is what I would not accept for a player in a tournament like the World Cup.

I hope Rohr does not start Ighalo again.

Iceland are very beatable. They will come out to claim 3 points against us and may get exposed.

Somebody should tell the boys that the fashion parade is over, and that the World Cup has started.

which Keshi's team played which tournament?

Team that Keshi turned upside down? How many players from the AFCON and Concede did Keshi take to World Cup? Most of us couldn't even recognize half the team when the 23-man list was released. If we had seen them prior to the World Cup, how come we couldn't recognise them?

Keshi's team did not have any tournament experience as a team. A few individuals yes, but a team? Big no
Look at Keshi's starting backline to the 2013 AFCON, Confed Cup and WC. What changed? The only introductions to Keshi's starting line up were Babatunde and Osaze. That team had some tournament experience.

You may chose to ignore it's importance but I tell you it is a factor.

True, this is the new generation's first major tournament as a team. It is indeed a factor but I won't use that to say "Okay then, let us lose all games and come home... It was our first major tournament after all and it is a heavy big baptism for us"....

No way! This team have it in them to fight and fight they must.
That is it! Lack of tournament experience is a factor.

However, the team needs to work hard to overcome it.

Rome was not built in a day.

Shebi Iceland got to quarter finals of the Euro. Which tournament did they play before then?

I don't buy this big tournament thingy at all.
See, there are always exceptions to certain things. But that tournament experience Iceland gathered from the Euros have helped them through the qualifiers and u saw how they played as a unit today.

I am not saying lack of Tournament experience is the only factor, it is one of the factors. I mean what kind of rubbish foul did Ekong commit there to give away that penalty? Why must he make that kind of error in a WC?

so because we have not been assembled to play any tourney prior now is a justification for the team loss tonight?
I am not defending Rohr

I knew we were the underdogs going into that game. And I had always said it. I was just hoping our team could create an upset.

So how many tourneys did Keshi's team play? How many did panama of 2014 play? How many did Algeria of 2014 play?

My man u no get yarns
Keshi's team played 2013 AFCON and Confederations Cup.

Which Panama are you talking about? A debutante for this WC?

Did Algeria not part in AFCON before the WC?

This team under Rohr is taking part in its first tournament. It is not the sole reason we lost but it is also a factor.

Keshi's team played Afcon and confed cup. Remember guys like Osaze and Emenike were in that team.

Shehu did good and people are still making up lies about him being poor just to get Ebuehi in the squad.
My only problem was starting Ekong over Omerou and leaving Mikel on the pitch so long. We have to come to terms that Uzoho will make a mistake every match.
Why would you start Omeruo ahead of Ekong?

this team was ruined more by the coach than players.

Forget experience

What did the experienced duo of Mikel and Moses play?
The Team as a unit lacks tournaments experience.

Do you know how many tournaments that Croatian team has played together?

Do you know how many tournaments the 94 team played together before the 94 WC? Same goes for the 98 lads.

The boys played well overall but school boys mistakes cost us.

Well, at the end of it all, the more experienced side won.
Lack of tournament experience is a major factor against this team.
We have fallen once but we must surely rise again.

For me, the Crotian technical crew did their assignment well. They noticed that Shehu is our weak link at the right back and they've been utilizing that effectively.

They direct all balls to Perisic on the left, then outrun Shehu. We need Ebuehi in this game, then switch to our much desired and effective 3-5-2.

In addition, Ighalo seems to be weak in pace, he simply can't run to catch balls. Musa might be needed to over-run these Croats defense.

Ostensibly, I still very much believe that we can win this game. Second half would be much more different. Irrespective of the result of today's match, I solidly stand with the team.

Go Eagles! The Land is Green! cheesy
That position lies the strength of their attack.

Argentina had the ball for almost 95 good minutes but they were not attacking. Messi could not touch the ball without at least 3 men on him and when they went wide Iceland dealt with them fairly comfortably. Apart from the PK and the cross that somehow made it to the keeper I didn't see Argentina threatening much.
I don't think Argentina will put us under that kind of pressure but I won't bet against anybody representing us that's just me.
Go check the stats bro.

Besides also the Icelandic defence line made penetration difficult for Argentina.

Rulling Argentina off because of this game is a No-No.

The Argentina I saw not only can be beaten but they can also not make it to the next round. Football is not about who can keep the ball the longest it is about getting the ball in the net. I believe the template has been set, get extra men on Messi and let the rest beat you if they can. Iceland were lucky but luck is part of the game.
Did you watch the game at all?

This Argentine team that attacked Iceland for 95 good minutes.

Iceland would have their astute defending and goalkeeper to thank. The Nigerian defense and Goalkeeper would have crumbled if kept under such persistent pressure.

Argentina have a very good team and they played very well.
