TheGoodJoe: Waiting for our potential players doing it in major leagues before a chance to represent the Super Eagles. You want to flood the Super Eagles with "potentials" that have not proven themselves at Club senior level. Or what are you trying to say? When we have age grade competitions? |

TheGoodJoe: Look at Kelechi Nwakali for instance. There is no Contribution from us to help him on his path to become a quality player. No step what so ever from us. What do you want the NFF to do? Send him a special trainer or send him a special invite to the Super Eagles for training purposes? So what happens to other young talented players? They will be left out while a position is practically reserved for a player that you cannot be sure he will come out good? Was he not part of the last Flying Eagles? Was he not tutored by Amuneke in the U20 camp? Now he is eligible for the U23 he should make himself available for screening/selection.And you say it is same as folding of arms. |

Mujtahida: In football whenever the coaches at the club level begin any form of revolution it seeps to the national team. The Dutch team in the 70's was a product of the tactical innovations instituted at the club level with clubs like Psv and Ajax leading. The Italian national team of the 90's carried in its blood the innovations of of Arigo Sacchi. What of Spain in recent times - was it not what was happening at club level that was replicated in the national team? With the fewer number of games, that are far between, that the national teams have to play in a calender year, national teams have limited time to experiment. These changes are much slower with the national teams. |

charlesemeka85: Arsenal were brought crashing down to earth in their Premier League International Cup showpiece against Porto on Tuesday evening, no thanks to the talents of Nigerian wonder kid, Musa Yahaya who set up the winning goal of the 1-0 defeat.
Defensive stalwart Tolaji Bola was named in the hosts starting XI with Aaron Eyoma while the ex-Tottenham Hotspur trainee Yahaya was handed his third start in six games of the tournament for Porto.
It was the former Nigeria U17 youngster who would provide his side's opening goal after just 10 minutes, showcasing his trickery by twisting into space to tee up striker, Madi Queta for an easy finish.
It was evident Arsenal sorely missed the effervescence and decisiveness of their Nigerian players on international duty with England, the likes of Folarin Balogun, Xavier Amaechi and Bukayo Saka.
Olayinka was the only substitute afforded minutes after he replaced striker, Yassin Fortune as they continued to chase the deficit while the scintillating Yahaya went the full ninety for the visitors.
Arsenal star and new academy manager Per Mertesacker was among the spectators at the Emirates who watched the Nigerians on both sides display their wares Do you know if Yahaya played as a Winger or a Wing Back. |

Arsene Wenger one of the last of the old guard is taking his leave. Football has changed. Yes we all agree football has evolved but we are discussing national team set up here. So I will love to see you cite cases with national teams and their coaches |

charlesemeka85: On loan Leicester City forward Ahmed Musa could be on his way back to the English Premier League with Brighton and Hove Albion interested in his services.
Owngoalnigeria.com gathered that Brighton have been tracking him for some time, and they were even close to signing him on loan from Leicester City in January before he decided on a return to CSKA Moscow.
At CSKA Moscow, the 25 year old has regained the form that made Leicester splash 16 million euros on him with 5 league goals to his name from just nine games, while in the domestic cup he has a goal to his name, same as in the Europa League where he played six games.
Brighton have been impressed with his performance and they are hoping to thrash out a deal that could see him return to the Premier League at the end of his loan deal with the Russian side.
Musa is among the few players who are almost certain to make the squad of Nigeria for the World Cup in Russia later this year, and it could delay a decision on his future. Hmm... this could be dicey for him. |

Ok who discovered Enyeama, Ejide,Aiyenugba and Osaze. Hahaha. On your second paragraph I know you expect me to mention Onigbinde. But we have known those players before they got invited to the national team. He didn't discover them. Henry Nwosu picked an unknown Mikel from the Plateau United feeder team. That is the discovery we are talking about. All those goalies you mentioned there were already regulars in the NPL. Aiyenugba was a deputy to Enyeama at Enyimba. Ejide was the number 1 goalkeeper at Gabros international where he had won almost 100 caps before being invited to the Super Eagles camp in 2002. On Osaze, he was already in the Belgian league before Onigbinde gave him an invite to the Super Eagles camp prio to 2002 WC. That is not discovery.Hahaha. |

I know the depth of their knowledge about Nigerian football. For such a person to say Siasia discovered Mikel, when he/she is aware that Mikel featured Under Eguavoen at the U17 WC and also probably know that Henry Nwosu was the U17 coach that was fired before Eguavoen was appointed. You should know it was a slip of the fingers to say Siasia discovered Mikel. |

safarigirl: oh?
Argentina should also see doom ahead, nobody on the team is better than Messi
Same goes for Portugal. Who is better than CR7 there?
Egypt should also be terrified, Salah is their best player
How good were we when the likes of Yakubu and Enyeama were our best players? Is Mikel so woeful that he cannot be our best player?
On what ground should we be doomed if Mikel is our best player? Has he done anything to signify that he cannot hold the mantle when necessary?
I want to understand why we should be doomed if Mikel is our best as opposed to Moses? What does Moses bring that others cannot as compared to what Mikel brings? Hahaha. Safari, remember that open letter you wrote to the plastic fans on the eve of the 2014WC? Please start preparing another one cos we will need it a lot again. |

Joebie: Ehen dat na another matter.
Huddersfield has two difficult games left.. it's not impossible for them to lose both and for Swansea to win their final game against already relegated Stoke.. make we keep our fingers crossed for Tammy and co.. lol Huddersfield are playing a Chelsea that needs the win to have a hope of playing in UCL next year. See, Chelsea will win that game. Huddersfield are on 36points and GD of -29 Swansea are on 33points and on GD of -27. If Huddersfield loses to Chelsea their GD will even be worse. The key for Swansea's survival lies on Arsenal to beat Huddersfield on the last day and for Swansea themselves to beat Stoke even by half zero. I see HUDDersfield as even having the higher HUDDle to cross. I don't know how serious Arsenal will take their last game but they will want to send Wenger off with a win. But Chelsea will aim at beating Huddersfield tomorrow by every means. So there is hope for Swansea. |

elyte89: Tammy relegated
Westbrom relegated
Stoke relegated Swansea not relegated yet. They will only relegate if Huddersfield get 1 more point from their next 2 Games which are against Chelsea and Arsenal. Meanwhile Swansea host an already relegated Stokes. Huddersfield can lose to a Chelsea team that are chasing top 4 and also to an Arsenal team that wants to ensure Wenger wins his last game in Charge. So there is hope for Swansea if they can beat Stoke. |

Humility017: we are not going to play 3-5-2 all the time...just certain games we play such... you're talking as if without Moses on the pitch we not gonna win any world cup match...
if he can play that role for chelsea for close to 2 seasons why can't he play the wing back role for the super eagles just on few matches we play such...ebuehi can come in for him in the second half...if he burns out...
Moses can as well return to wings when we revert back to 4-2-3-1 team formation in other matches.....
so let's be flexible... Haha, the way some of us propose formations. You don't play 4-5-1 in game 1, it works for you and you win the game and next game you switch to 3-5-2. Instead what one can say is you start with 4-5-1 in a game and end up with 4-3-3, 4-4-2 or 3-5-2 depending on how the team faired during the course of the game. National team coaches don't change starting formations per Match per match especially if you got a result with the formation for the previous game. Talking also about bringing in Ebuehi when Moses burns out. I consider such more or less as a wasted substitution. You cannot be chasing a game and rather than making an attacking change like pulling out a midfielder, or a defender and introducing a striker or winger, you are changing WBs. And if we are leading and you need to secure a result. You can pull out one of the forwards and introduce a midfielder or CB. I can only change WBs, FBs or CB on the count of injuries or atrocious mistakes from the player involved. And again on Moses, like you don't get our point. He is our most potent Winger. Why play him at WB? |

Icon79: There are certain players who, baring injury, are sure starters on this team regardless of formation. They are: John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses. And you can throw in Wilfred Ndidi into the mix as well. All the other positions are negotiable.
O pari Abeg tell them o. Because you want to play 3-5-2 they want to drop Victor Moses. Bascovanveli even proposed Moses plays WB which is even more acceptable than Dropping him to the bench. |
