SIGHTS AND SOUNDS OF RUSSIA
LANGUAGES SPOKEN IN RUSSIAOf Russia's estimated 150m population, it is thought that over 81% speak the official language of Russian as their first and only language. Most speakers of a minority language are also bilingual speakers of Russian. There are over 100 minority languages spoken in Russia today, the most popular of which is Tatar (Tartar), spoken by more than 3% of the country's population. Other minority languages include Ukrainian, Chuvash, Bashir, Mordvin, Circassian and Chechen. Although few of these populations make up even 1% of the Russian population, these languages are prominent in key regional areas. http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/european_languages/countries/russia.shtml

Kog45: OK great,apart from 4-2-3-1 and 4-4-2,pls give me your ideal players for 4-3-3 and 3-5-2 4-3-3: .............Ighalo Iwobi......................Moses ...............Mikel .....Ndidi..............Onazi Idowu...Balogun..Ekong..Shehu. The above formation can easily be switched to 4-5-1 when the need arises. 3-5-2: .........Moses....Iheanacho/Iwobi ....................Mikel Idowu.................................Ebuehi/Shehu .............Ndidi............Onazi ....Balogun...Omeruo...Ekong. |

Kog45: Good but i want Iheanacho starting,if that's not possible, meaning Onazi comes into the lineup. Yes Onazi and Ndidi make up the 2 midfield players in the 4-2-3-1 set up. Iheanacho may start if Rohr goes for a 4-4-2. It simply means one of Onazi and Ndidi will not start: ...............Ighalo ...........................Iheanacho Iwobi....... Mikel........ Moses .................Ndidi |

Kog45: Thanks.OK give me formation that will accommodate,Iwobi,Iheanacho,Moses and Ighalo in the starting lineup cos i want to see these guys against Croatia. Is Mikel included? Rohr predictabily will go for a 4-2-3-1 formation in that game . For the lone striker Ighalo is likely to start. And Mikel will play behind him. and of course Moses and Iwobi will play from the wings. Iheanacho not likely to start. |

realpoacher: You place too much emphasis on defense forgetting that the best form of defence is Attack. Every time we had Iwobi roaming around the final third 18 yard box, he had scored.
This too much emphasis you place on defense was what Rohr thought when he played 3 original DMs in Onazi, Ndidi, and Joel Obi against Serbia , yet we got a whooping.
Remember this: If you need too many men behind the ball ⚽ inorder to defend, then you truly don't know how to defend Firstly, You set up your team both based on the strength and nature of your opposition and also your strength. Believe it or not Croatia vs Nigeria, we are the under dogs in that fixture. When you play a team that is better than you are you don't go all out and all attack else you will expose your weaknesses. Secondly at the bolded, Joel Obi did not play as a DM in the game. What we had was more like 2 blocking 4 (ie Ndidi and Onazi). And that is a set up we here have already proposed against Croatia. Remember we played Serbia bc of Croatia. There is nothing wrong with that set up. You need to match a team like Croatia first in the midfield before you can hope to get a result from that fixture. |

tbaba1234: Yekini got into the national team young. Should we bring in some young talents into the team and wait for them to hit their peak..
No one has patience for that... Instead, hit your peak at club level then maybe, you would be invited . The bolded is exactly my Ideology. In the mid 80s Nigeria never really had a stand out recognized striker. That was why Yekini at that his young age could feature and even though he was not really exceptional at that stage we kept faith with him until he hit his peak. |

Kog45: Yes but patience has been our issue.Yekini made his debut in 1982/83 and wasn't solid until 1987/88,space of 5 years. In fact he had a goal at Maroc 88 but from 1990 to 1994 Yekini became goal king. Yekini got better with age. |

Mickael2: I am not sure that there is anything I can add here at all. theGoodJoe keeps on saying we should do more, so does that mean we should be sending special coaches to every Chrisantus, Sani Emmanuel and Okoro that shines in the U17 world cup? the thing is that even if you start sending them these coaches some of them still won't make it not to mention the financial constraint involved. How many coaches you go hire? He keeps saying this thing but I am not exactly sure I understand his point He is the same person that rolled out a list of top talents that didn't live up to the expectations. I told him he is practically reserving spots for players in the SE which he denies. Why will you pick some certain players and assignment special coaches to them when he himself has agreed that a lot of young talents do not live up to their potentials. It is just too theoretical and not workable. |

TheGoodJoe:
Look at the case of Coach Rohr sending keeper trainers to work with our keepers. That is a clear case of a National team doing more to nurture their bright talents. A case of Rohr working with Awaziem and Osimhen in camp. The foreigners have a system that helps a large pool of their players have good nurturing before the National team proper. We do not, so we need to do more to help our players grow. As I said before, that is why we have age grade competitions. Salisu Yusuf is the coach of the U23 team. Let Osimhen and K. Nwakali make themselves available for selection. Uzoho's case is different cos he is a goal keeper and we find ourselves in a dire situation in that department. For what reason will you send a special trainer to Osimhen or Nwakali. Oga that does not count here. You mentioned having a system where a country will have a large pool of young players to select from. You cannot achieve that by picking one or two players saying they are special talents and sending special trainers to them. You can only achieve that kind of system by ensuring all your young talents are actively involved in your youth programs. From U17, U20 to U21/23. I still insist we need a standing U21 team. That is where we can pick from a large pool of players who are to be promoted to the senior team. |

Humility017: I still.think you don't play a misfit to get goals...the few gambles that later turned success stories you game up there are one out of many thousands.... it's like messing up a good player
playing Moses Simon on the flank can still birth goals...all the coach need do is to communicate his aggressive strategies to them... Simon Moses is not productive enough to make any starting line up for any formation you propose. He plays with so much energy and pace but his final products are always poor. |

tbaba1234: Look at the Zambia and Argentina games... Iwobi and Mikel combination in the middle was really good.. See the freekick against Argentina and the third goal... They work well together when Iwobi comes to the middle. Against Zambia Iwobi played as a Winger (in both legs) and against Argentina Iwobi was a pseudo-9. We cannot play Iwobi and Mikel together in the midfield. This is suggestive of a 4-3-3 formation where Mikel and Iwobi will sit behind the 3 forwards with the DM behind the duo. This could create gaps behind as we know Iwobi is a player that loves moving forward and taking on defenders. This could often reduce the midfield to a 4-2-4. Play that against Croatia and we get hammered. |

TheSuperNerd: I know Rohr won't which is the ONLY reason I ended my thoughts on this with a but and then a shrug.... lol...
But Rohr aside... this could be magic for The Super Eagles on the field of play. Maybe not against Croatia but against most oppositions. I have thought of that Midfield combo before too. But looking at what we have ahead of us it looks unlikely. |

TheSuperNerd: Ehmmm... Chief... We are talking 4-3-3 akin to having both Kroos and Modric with Casemiro as their henchman or having Xavi and Iniesta with Busquets doing the dirty work.
Mikel-Iwobi-Ndidi could potentially be that beautiful to see.
No be 4-2-3-1 or its variant we dey yarn oooo.... You think Rohr is going to start with a 4-3-3 in this WC? Particularly that Croatian team that is loaded in the midfield? Except you guys are just on a fantasy. |

tbaba1234: Iwobi and Mikel would be lovely in the middle with Ndidi playing in front of the defence. We will be able to create more chances. Mikel is the Overwhelming favorite for that AM position. Anything that Moves him to play a deep midfield position is counter productive. Mikel is the player that has the most intelligent Final passes in that team so we need him directly behind the forwards. Just those killer passes that will set the forwards on errands. Onazi, Joel, or Etebo can play at the CM position while iwobi can play from one of the wings positions. |
