Farzat:You say? |
tbaba1234:OK. Trust there will be investigations. |
TheSuperNerd:You just cleared the air in an earlier post of when the 4weeks was reported. Thanks I get it now. |
tbaba1234:Yes I know. And he and Benerd Bulbwa were first team players. I heanacho was not. Manu brought them back to the U20 team and based on the knowledge he has about their abilities he started them ahead of Iheanacho and Yahaya. Manu knows his boys better than we do. And he selected based on the tactics he adopted. That is my point. |
tbaba1234: |
tbaba1234:Ow, so where is the 4weeks thing coming from? |
Kog45:4 weeks. it means he will not be part of the WC preparations. And even if he is back in training in 4weeks time. it will take another 2-3 weeks to gain full fitness. Let me be sincere here. In my head I have taken off Ndidi on starting list I only keep him there in my heart hoping for a miracle to come. |
Humility017:As far as I can recall Tbaba only made mention of one guy. And you are saying "some guys". There are issues of age cheating but we often exaggerate things in this country. Just like Ibe Kachukwu spoke after spending 6months as the GMD of NNPC. He said "Corruption in NNPC is over exaggerated"! Now back to football, as I said, those clubs use those very young players to fill up their squad list for the season. But they also take part in training sessions. Most of them do not get to play on match days but there are a few of them with exceptional abilities to match the senior players and you see them getting 10-15 of playing time. Now, professionally those boys have been in those NPFL teams, registered, and used to fill up the squad but only used for training. One journalist will just go dig up one document or publication and find the name of one Alhassan Ibrahim on the Kano Pillars squad list for 2014/2015 season and say cannot be an U20 player? Paul Aigbogu is an NPFL coach he knows how these things play out. I am against age cheating and any player found guilty should be harmmered straight for the good of Nigerian football. And not to condemn them and deprive them of a life time opportunity. |
TheSuperNerd:2+2=4. Today is May13 . WC starts June 14. I fear he may not be ready enough for the WC. |
Humility017:Now, let me give you this picture. We have numerous academies scattered all over the country. But only some very few boys are selected to play in the U17 national team. So what happens to the other academy players? Where do they graduate to? Have you ever thought in that line? Some with good agents and or rich parents will travel out to continue their development in Europe. What about the others that are not that privileged? Has it ever occurred to you that they graduate to play in the NNL and NPFL? You don't know a very large number of these NPFL players were picked from the academies? You think the NPFL players are just picked from the streets to sign professional contract? Some clubs have feeder teams from also they pick players. Talking about 18 years olds playing 3 seasons in the NPFL have you not seen a couple of 15-16 years olds especially in Kano Pillars and MFM playing weekly in the NPFL. By the time they are 18/19 instead of tapping from that wealth experience they have gathered you now tag them as old men and deprive them the chance of representing their country. If you don't want to see 18 years old with 3 years professional experience the NPFL has to make it compulsory for players to wait till they are 18 before signing any profional contracts. Just like how it is done in Europe. Do you know these clubs recruit these young players because they don't have money to pay salaries of the older established players? Yes, the NFF has a minimum number of players to be registered per season. These clubs get a particular number of experienced players they fill they can manage and the remaining sports they scout around academies and the ones that have feeder teams promote some of their players just to add to the list. Some of these boys start training with the senior players early and that helps them mature faster. And you chose to deprive them because they went through this process? Also there are so many players in the Super Eagles today that were picked from academies yet people are still pointing age cheating fingers at them. Age cheating is every where and I frown at it. But you cannot deprive these players the chance to play because you think they over aged. I have seen people who look older than their ages. And some of these boys started playing professional football early. I have seen a good number of them. |
ChrisKels:When has Ghana become a yardstick for our own players selection? The last U20 that we used entirely academy players what came out of it? Ghana is trying to follow our footsteps in that regards. Just to make you realize. Besides I can only see 3 or 4 academy clubs there. The rest are Ghana premier league clubs and I have even seen two foreign Clubs on that list. Please roll out the clubs of the players that featured for England in the last U20. That should be our model. If Ghana has selected a large pool from their players that featured in the last U17 WC, this, from my experience has not really worked. I have said it severally in the past that no team has won the U17 and 2 years later won the U20. This is because after every successful or relatively successesful U17 outing bulk of the U17 players get promoted not giving enough room for new entrants who were not part of the previous U17.This usually create gaps in the team. Especially experience wise. Look at Nigeria, after each U17 WC win , the best we have ever achieved in the Subsequent U20 is a 2nd round exit. I believe in selecting the best crop available for the U20 and not giving special preferences for a previous U17 team. Be mindful again that I am against age cheating but also no player should be deprived of our national colours because of one unproven age cheating allegation or the other. And if a player is found guilty he should be dropped. I know the general thinking is that all NPFL players are age cheats. But that is not true. Obviously there are several cases of age cheating but you cannot because of that ignore the NPFL U20 players and go for the academy Or NNL players. Who told you there are also no age cheats in the academies and NNL? Have academy players not failed the MRI repeatedly? We need the best for this crop. Be it NPFL, NNL or academy. Let everyone be given a fair chance. |
TheSuperNerd:Wilfred Ndidi, Ifeanyi Mathew, Alhassan Ibrahim( Musuam) and 2 other players all failed the MRI on the eve on the CAF U17. Fact remains they failed the MRI. We have all come to accept the fact that so many products of the U17 fail to progress in their careers and this failure starts right from the transnsition From U17 to U20. Not all U17 graduates are good enough for the U20! That is why I still give kudos to Manu's selection and criticize Amuneke's. Manu understands this fact and introduced some new blood into his team while still keeping some of his U17 boys who were really exceptional at The U17. But Amuneke kept almost his entire U17 team. Only 1 new player was added. And don't tell me there were no players outside that U17 crop that were good enough to Break into the team. |
tbaba1234:Any player who falsified his age should be dropped. Simple and short. And not to condemn and disown the entire team. |
TheSuperNerd:Ndidi failed The MRI test but where is he today compared to those that passed the MRI? Simon never went through the MRI cos he wasn't part of any U17 team. Both players have come out good for the Super Eagles. And I told you Etebo and Ajayi were available for selection but Manu for whatever reasons dropped them. They never went through the MRI but see where they are today. Sokari and Ifeanyi Mathew are not doing badly in their respective clubs. Success Isaac went through The MRI likewise Musa Mohammed. How are they progressing? Where is Chiderah Ezeh, Akinjide Idowu, Zaharadeen Bello and co? Those players passed the MRI right? Iheanacho is the only player that passed The MRI currently in the Super Eagles. Now, I am against age cheating. I am not against MRI. But what I am against is depriving other players who were not part of a previous U17 set from representing their fatherland at the U20. The NFF should just fashion put a mean of screening out those perceived to be age cheats. |
ChrisKels:Na...that Amuneke's U20 were not gonna go any where. It is now some of those his boys are ready for U20 and not back then. What I was against was the shutting out of other players and relying almost solely on his U17 winning side who were even the youngest team at the U17 tourney. Most of them were 16-17 years olds during the U20 qualifiers. Some of you will say age doesn't count but it does. I still reiterate that U20 is not for academy players but for young professionals. For example , Players like Orji Okonkwo, Samuel Chukwueze, Kingsley Michael are no more academy players like back then. They have signed professional contract and Michael and Okonkwo played like 2 seasons. Now they are ready for the U20 challenge . Look at the England U20 winning squad you will understand what I am talking about. That said, a 2-2 draw away to a fellow West African side is not that bad a result. West African sides are always know to pose a strong opposition at this age grade level. We expect the boys to finish the job here. With the inclusion of the foreign based players the team can only get better. |
DrLikita12:People enter school these days at even 14/15. Imagine when Taiwo Awoniyi wrote WAEC. 2013. Assuming he gained admission that same year wouldnt he have graduated by now? Meanwhile he is 20years old now. |
tbaba1234:See, I am also against age cheating. But one thing I do is not to jump so quickly to condemn the age of a player when I don't have solid evidence. Seems a lot of us have refused to embrace this team because of perceived age cheating. Because of 1 or 2 insinuations you condemn a whole team. Me I can only wish them well because the future of Nigerian football lies with this crop. We missed out in the last U17 and U20 WC of which we are already seeing the negative effects in the lack of quality players behind Iheanacho and Osimhen's groups. We need to bridge that gap now else we fall back to the mess we found ourselves 5-10 years ago. |
tbaba1234:He is "OUR" goal scorer not "your". U know the age he entered Poly? |
DrLikita12:OK. Thanks. The team can only get better. Lot of work to be done by Paul and his crew. We hope the inclusion of both the foreign based/born will add bite to the team. |
Anyways, The Flying Eagles game would have ended over 10mins ago. I lost communication with my source. We hope to get the FT scores later. |
tbaba1234:Who is/are the graduates among them? |
tbaba1234:Then Come forward and do us the favor. We stand against age cheating in our age grade teams. And not to just condemn the entire team. |
DrLikita12:Yeah |
asha80:Better they keep him out for him to recover fully before the WC. |
Icon4s:2:2 Now! |
DrLikita12:This is not actually Guinea. They are Guinea-Bissau. |
tbaba1234:Because they play in the NPFL? The U20 is not for academy players. If you have any proofs of any over age please do us a favor by bringing it up. |
HT in Bissau. G.Bs 0: 2 Ngr Wasiu Alalade of Enyimba FC with a brace. |
edi287:You mean you don't know? |
daveP:I don't want shockers anything. Let Argentina just beat them jeje to deflate their ego. If Iceland should beat Argentina don't you think we are in more trouble? |
Still on the matter |
