Mujtahida: I beg to disagree Sir. Forumites didn't even discuss this match as such not to talk of larger percentage. What has occupied us here has been the Tammy saga and the argument for /against foreign born players. I doubt if anyone even made any goal prediction in our favour. I dare say nobody did. I remember even laughing and saying that we've been on this foreign born issue because Super Eagles have qualified. There wasn't much expectation. When Michael2 and I were saying we may not win the game we sounded like aliens. |

Oasis007: Boss..... Mikel should rather play as a deep-lying Playmaker against the Argentines. Possession-wise we can't outplay the Argentines, hence Mikel Vision and long Range Passes gonna be a huge Advantage to counter-attack the Argentines.
Defensively, the Team would switch to 4 - 2 - 3 - 1, and offensively play 4 - 4 - 2. Mikel's best games for Nigeria in the last 7 years have been from the AM position. He may not be pacy enough to play the box to box midfield role. His killer final passes and recent eyes for goal would be key for us in that game. He is our key man going into that encounter and we must maximize his abilities. |

Oasis007: Iheanacho has shown he can press and track-back, thus the Team can switch to 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 with Iheanacho becoming an AM.
Because it will be easier to launch a Counter-Attack with Iheanacho playing behind Kayode. He gets the Pace and also can give a decisive Pass. We need the orchestrative abilities of Mikel in that AM position. Mind you this is Argentina we are playing. |

Joebie: With Rohr's Starting Lineup: How I would have played yesterday.
1. Ebuehi for Shehu 5 mins cameo OR PREFERABLY 2. Ebuehi for Etebo and switch to a 4-4-2 But Rohr still had one more substitute slot. Why didn't he use it. Remember I have always maintained that defensive like for like substitutions are rarely made. Except for critical cases like injury and atrocious performance by a defender. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 11:01am On Nov 11, 2017 |
Oasis007: My preferred Lineup against Argentina. (4 - 4 - 2) Formation needs to be tested by Rohr, we can't rely only on 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 every time.
------------------- Akpeyi --------------------
Shehu ------ Ekong --- Balogun ------- Aina
-------------- Ogu ------ Mikel --------------
Iwobi-------------------------------- Onyekuru
----------- Iheanacho --- Kayode -------------
I picked Akpeyi over Ezenwa simply to know if he deserves a place in the Team to Russia. This should be his final Test, and if he fails it, then Rohr should stop inviting him.
He's more exposed than Ezenwa professionally, hence it's a big Shame Ezenwa is considered ahead of him as Eagles present No. 1.
The Backline is solid against the Algerians. I think it's better we allow the quartet to starting gelling together henceforth. We need to know what they can offer in Russia, starting from the next (Friendly) Match.
Ogu and Mikel Pivot gonna be a good Combo. Both can tackle superbly and shield/hold on the Ball excellently. While Ogu is dealing with short Passes, Mikel would be dealing with long range Passes to the frontline.
They do not need to attack, rather allow the Wingers - Iwobi and Onyekuru doing the Job. Their primary Assignments would be; shielding the Defense, controlling the Game and freeing up the Wingers and the Strikers doing the damages.
Iheanacho is a creative Player, with good eyes for Goals and decisive passes. Playing him and Kayode upfront gonna be a Menace for the Argentine Defenders.
Iheanacho can shoot from outside, Kayode gets the Pace, Onyekuru gets magical feet, and Iwobi is technically gifted.
I hope to see what the Lads can offer in a 4 - 4 - 2 Formation. I like your reasoning but considering the nature of the opposition we are facing don't you think that your midfield is scanty? I would want to take off Kayode and introduce Ndidi in the Midfield while Mikel moves to the AM position. |

TheGoodJoe: My preferred starting eleven but I hope Rohr gives Uzoho a chance. The limitations of Ezenwa to deal with aerial balls under pressure was very clear. Your line up. If Uzoho must be tested it cannot be this Argentina game. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 10:52am On Nov 11, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe: Friendly match. Why go back to Akpeyi after Rohr dropped him. We should be progressive. You call it a friendly? Yes a friendly but friendlies have since gained importance with the introduction of the FIFA rankings and also more importantly the rankings are used for seeding in CAF and FIFA organized competitions. Friendlies are also used for team building and solidification. And also very importantly we are playing Argentina and we need to be at our best because if we have a disastrous game it can completely derail our preparations for the world cup. A dead runner game of yesterday and people have been making all sorts of comments about Rohr and the team. I asked you if it is your preferred line up or what you think Rohr will line up. The Rohr that I know will very likely not start Uzoho against Argentina. Reintroducing Akpeyi is not a retrogression. After all Alex Iwobi was initially dropped from starting line up and he is back in it. Iheanacho also started yesterday, is that a retrogression. |

TheGoodJoe: We have no choice from what I say yesterday. Ezenwa is not physically imposing in the box. If he is in goal, the Argentines will come for him.
Unless Rohr will instruct the defence to shield Ezenwa to give him time to get to the ball, we have to opt for a big physical presence which Uzoho clearly brings. Keep in mind, this is a friendly match. The right time to make risks. Rohr that I know would rather start Akpeyi. Uzoho is not tested enough to shoulder that responsibility. It is not just an issue of height. |

TheGoodJoe: https://img.startingeleven.co.uk/usr/a/5a06a6471288f.jpg Big challenge with who will play on the left because we are dealing with an Argentine team who can attack from the wings. I go with Onyekuru because I feel attack is the best form of defence. His runs will cause them problems. However, Nwakaeme made a big statement with his defending, work rate and tracking back yesterday. Would you say this is your Preferred line up or how you think Rohr will line the team. Because I know for sure that there is no way Rohr would start Francis Uzoho against Argentina. |

The coaches need to teach our players how to be actors on the pitch.
That moment when Brahimi headed Shehu, he had no business being on his feet.
He ought to have fallen and rolled as if a sledge harmer was used on him.
That would probably have influenced the ref to show Brahimi the red card. These are some of the tricks South Americans and Europeans use to edge out their opponents when there is nothing to separate the two.
This singular act can prove crucial in a world cup game. |

Humility017: oga no one is talking of beating them at their backyard... didn't you see yesterday that the midfield wasn't creative at all.... rohr keep playing etebo in that midfield and what was nacho doing in the flanks...? even salisu yusuf....never played nacho in the flanks...when he was a coach...
all our matches...especially the last few ones...the wings have been one of our strong points to play fast counter attack... to be honest will you play etebo in the middle If you were the coach...
I worried because playing this kind of formation at the world cup...will leave us at the mercy of a very sound technical team... they will beat us silly....
we can't really attest on nwakeme finishing prowess because he was not feed... My brother a larger percentage here were expecting us to beat the so called "weakened Algerian side". But for the dubious penalty we would have won all the same. But the expectations on this dead rubber game was too much. On Etebo, I was arguing it here not too long ago that he does not have the creative ability to be an AM at this level. On Anthony Nwakaeme, he is not the kind of striker we need. We brought him in for the Cameroon " Jam -body " encounter. I think we need to give Kayode more playing time now |

Humility017: Oga icon4 let the boy play...let see what he can offer... I remember same thing you said...when akpeyi was eagles number 1....
today the tide have changed and you now see him as the best amongst them all...
let someone else play and let us assess how good he is.... Hahaha, I still feel Akpeyi is better than Ezenwa. The only edge Ezenwa has over Akpeyi is confidence and that over confidence is affecting Ezenwa. See how he was just jumping upandan and running kaakiri yesterday. The coaches have probably continued to field him to see if he would improve. Thank God those Algerian players were just heading wide yesterday. Else na another thing we for dey talk this morning. As for Uzoho. Hmmmm,..its a no no for me for now. |

Goke7: the criticisms today are not only destructive but catastrophic, what was even at stake in today's match for God's sake? let's be less emotional pls They probably were expecting us to white-wash Algeria at their back yard. Ahead of this game I have personally lowered my expectations. There was no way we would have played with the kind of intensity with which we played our 5 earlier games. I watched that game with the major intensions of assessing Aina and Nwakaeme and also reassessing John Ogu. I also focused my attention on Balogun to see if he had gotten over the signs we saw from him against Zambia. Before the game I thought a draw would be a fair result but considering how the Algerian goal was awarded I felt we were robbed and deserved to have won |

TheGoodJoe: Ezenwa worked hard and showed fight. That I give to him and I also liked his confidence. However, the Algerians prepared well for him and it showed in the match. Ezenwa is not good with dealing with aerial balls under heavy pressure. It showed repeatedly although he was fouled in one.
I think Uzoho would have performed better and I would like to see him given a shot. Also, I suggest the return of Alampasu to camp. The so called logistics talk, I do not buy it. How are you sure Uzoho would have done better? Na so. |

tbaba1234: Rohr works gradually and it has worked well for him so far. Exactly, and the issue of "Ebuehi came before Aina and so must be fielded before him" does not hold water to me. This is how to build a team. Introduce new players but in such a way as not to distort the balance in the team. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 11:16pm On Nov 10, 2017 |
Humility017: if you were in his shoes how will you feel...ola who came yesterday is already playing full 90 mins... why do you think the English coach is capping Abraham and co....
you need give this guys sense of belonging... keep inviting him every time to make up the numbers.....
show them that you believe in them... give him few minutes under his belt...it is good for his confidence...... a very inconsequential match like this would have been better if he was allowed to play few minutes....
after all he is not doing badly for his club.... Bros it is not by who fes come. Rohr simply does not have confidence in that Ehuehi guy. Is it not so obvious? BTW you don't throw too many newbies into the defense at once. Starting Aina is one risk for the CBs and DM to cope with. So bringing in Ebuehi too is not ideal. |

komekn: My opinion is that he has a long way to go to be on the level of Mikel. And Mikel has more than a few years left if competitive football.
Iwobi doesn't have the vision, passing range composure and presence of Mikel indeed may never have. From day one Mikels ability has been consistently top class for more than a decade thats. INDISPUTABLE OUTSTANDING QUALITY. Of course Iwobi is still up and coming. Nobody is saying he is presently at par with Mikel. My point is Iwobi for now is ahead of other candidates for that AM position. Except you have any other player in mind. |
