it's just one game in March, we can use it to play a Costs Rica or South Korea, why use the window to play Seychelles?
What Pinnick can do is to ask that the Seychelles game be played on a Friday so that by the next week Tuesday we play the WC friendly.

Sincerely we need that Seychelles game. When best can we finally cap players like Ebuehi, Idowu and any other dual nationality player that catches Rohr's fancy from now to March.

Amaju Pinnick is proposing that the window in March should be used by World Cup bound teams to prepare for the World Cup and that the Afcon qualifiers should be shifted to after the world cup. The Caf committee will meet next week or so
I feel the CAF qualifiers should still be in place.

Firstly, only 5 out of the about 54 CAF member nations would be taking part in the WC.

Secondly, the qualifiers are also useful test games for the WC bound teams.

Thirdly WC bound teams can use such games to cap their foreign groomed players in a bid to get them available for selection for the WC.

Reports from ANS and OGN suggest that Rohr might experiment with 3 at the back in a 3-4-2-1 formation.. Shehu and Aina are tipped to play as wing backs.

..............Akpeyi

Awaziem Balogun Ekong

Shehu Ogu Ndidi Aina

.........Mikel Iwobi

.............Kelechi
This would be very interesting to watch.

How ever, one of the limitations of this formation considering the current structure and composition of the team is there would be so much competition between our full backs and wingers. If we want to set up like this in the World cup, baring any injuries Victor Moses already has one of the Wings back slots. The other Wings back position would battled for by the other RBs and wingers. That would be fierce mennn.

But a major merit is we would optimally utilize the abilities of Iwobi and Mikel.

If Rohr is to set up like this tonight I am even more excited to watch that game.

After all it is a friendly. The only thing at stake is our FIFA ranking.

Patapata, if we lose to Argentina, we make up for it by beating Seychelles in March ie if the CHAN Eagles do not do further damage.

Chill guys I never intended to bash anyone. I only inquired from him how many times has he watched Nwakaeme play both ib the SE and his clubside before calling for his head in the team already.

That guy was played out of position (though he features as a CF at times for his club). We all saw his skills, passing and movements when he moved to LF in that game.

Rohr wasn't drunk when he invited him. There was a reason.
First Off is Nwakaeme the only player that has been bashed here? In that case how would players like Echiejile, Onazi, Iheanacho, Akpeyi, Ezenwa etc feel also reading comments on here.

He has made his observations about Nwakaeme, and that is his opinion. What you can do is to counter it with facts and let the argument go on smoothly.

That's all we need.

Your points on Nwakaeme are also noted.

At the last World Cup Argentina said they noticed it and tailored their strategy to exploit that 'slow warming up' of ours. Remember at the World Cup you'd face different countries from different continents with different footballing philosophies. Look at what Zambia did. They charged at us. We were ragged in the first half. A better team will nail us. We need to take the game by the scruff of the neck from the blast of the whistle. We might even use it to surprise teams who expect us to warm up slowly.
That was the last world cup. This an almost different team structure.
But as I said your observation is valid. But as I also said, we can use it to exploit our opponents in the form of counter attacks.

somehow:
water and levels thing.
BTW, has anyone noticed that we don't warm up into games on time? We take time to stable up and a tactical team would have put 2 goals into our net within the first 20 mins.

I have been noticing this for a while now, everyone should watch our first 20 mins again to confirm what I'm saying.
But has this team ever conceded within 20mins?

In fact in all the qualifier games, we scored first. We were never behind in any encounter.

With the exception of the last 2 games we were usually 1 or 2 goals up at half time. In our first 3 games we led 2-0 at half time.

Your observation is quite valid but I don't see it as much of a problem. It has even worked in our favor a couple of times as we hit our opponents on the counter when they were pressing.

That for a manager is not being tactically astute. God forbid what if Shehu gets injured or suspended etc

But the real test is to know how good a player is to test him against another player in the same circumstances.

Manager show preference it's not necessarily conclusive our outright objectivity it's preference.

In Everton Phil Nevill was arguably the least player in the team with regard to ability. But the first on the team sheet much to the indignation of Yobo Plenarr, Anichebe, etc.

Training games are not totally conclusive you need a full match possibly a couple of games to to be conclusive about a player.

I know players who are not great in training but complete terrors on the pitch in a match. So I dont agree with that approach.

Given the same opportunity how do you know Aina will not improve more. You simply do not because the opportunity is denied.
Rohr seems to have settled for Shehu at RB.
Where he is looking for space for Aina is at LB. Simple.

And if Shehu gets injured we have players who can also play RB in the team.

We do not conclusively yet because Aina best RB in the championship has not been allowed to play his natural RB position so that a direct comparison can be made to Shehu.
Rohr knows these players better than we do.

He sees them in training and knows what each can offer. There are some decisions he may not have to wait to see from a match day game before making them.

He had both Shehu and Aina in camp and yet kept faith with Shehu.

Shehu seems to have cemented that spot. It is not likely that Aina would displace him. Aina would compete with Echiejile instead.

Did you notice Shehu's displays against Algeria sef?
That guy is improving with each passing game.

oga icon sorry to have me say this....no offense please..

you're quite conservative...you rarely believe in making changes..

if you will remember none of us ever know how good akpeyi was during keshi stint because he kept playing agbim and never give the guy a chance...

but today where is agbim?

sometimes it is good we test this players...and then stick to the best.
why stay with better when we have the best...
See don't make this simple arithmetics a complex differential equation.

The point I made is Shehu is ahead of the other RB options.
As simple as that.

Talking about trying other players, go check my preferred starting line up against Algeria. I started Ebuehi at RB.

Shehu is currently our best RB. Say other wise.

Agreed but to say competition is not needed is to do him and the team a great disservice. My point is not on 'bestness' or otherwise but saying competition is not needed.

No player should stand apart oo cos that's what leads to degeneration. That's how Echiejile stated for long without competition and stagnated. Has Shehu been outstanding? Yes. Does he need competition? Yes, fierce and stiff one and ditto for all other positions. I like that Onyekuru is in the team and based on comments here, he played well few minutes he was in. There must be competition so that everyone keeps their feet on the pedal.
Abdullahi Shehu is clearly the best RB we have at the moment. Tell me other wise.

Idowu, Aina and Ebuehi can play RB. That competition is a contrbuting factor to Shehu's play, i believe.
Whether it is a contributory factor or not, Shehu stands apart from the others. He is the favorite for that position.
