realpoacher: Sir please stop this childish statements causing confusion here.
Na age they dey use play football.
Anything other than that makes your statements irks of immaturity, and deliberate attempt at sabotaging our world cup representation. Just imagine. "Na age them dey take play football"? Tomorrow he will call the Olympics " Taataa football " Just to clamor for or defend one of those his players. Unbelievable. |

forgiveness: You can only believe it when you see Defoe, Alves, Evra, Ibrahamovic etc still playing actively for their various clubs and country. I can't believe that just to defend Martins' inclusion you make comment like "no be age them dey take play ball". Then go and invite the U17 players to the national team since age does not matter and take them to the WC. Those players you are mentioning are still in competitive leagues and they are not Nigerians. Always consider the Nigerian factor. Africa as a whole. Obafemi Martins cannot add value to that team. He cannot bring more than what the current strikers are bringing. If Rohr choses to invite him, good luck to him. |

PurpleHouse: Personally, I am beginning to have some disgustful feelings towards some folks here. I mean, com'on, how can you guys be clamouring for the recall of old men whose time have passed as far as the super eagles is concerned?
These young lads qualified us for the world cup with the services of Martins and the likes. I love martins, very much. But i feel we don't need him and his likes anymore. There were times when i would have campaigned for their recall myself, but those days are long gone. We don't need distractions. We have enough fire power to beat any team with determination and teamwork. So all the agents and paid ass lickers (no offence), pls bury this ideas of Martins and his likes. We are building a solide team right now, we are not REPACKAGING old cargoes.
Thank you Opariliously! Just one word from your write up: ' Distraction'. That sums it. |

Mujtahida: That formula is a no no!!! Recipe for disaster. There was a time I wanted to talk about juju being used as the hustle for a place becomes more intense but I refrained. It's not impossible ooo. Nothing desperation no fit push men do. This is definitely a wrong move. I don't even support the idea of rewarding a goal scorer because all goals are a result of team work directly or indirectly. Something I would rather propose is a team bonus for every goal scored. And this is to be shared equally amongst the squad members. In as much as I don't believe in "juju" in football, this proposal by the NFF will definitely breed bad blood and ill wishes. |

soetanoreoluwa: Super Eagles World Cup Bonus Update
Appearance, Minute-based Bonus for Eagles
https://i1.wp.com/s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/leadersandco/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/04041916/Nigeria-Football-Federation.jpg?fit=644%2C362&ssl=1
FIFA WORLD CUP LARGESS By Olawale Ajimotokan in Abuja The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is proposing a sharing formula that will see the Super Eagles benefit from the FIFA World Cup money only based on the number of matches and total minutes played by each member of the national team in Russia. The Super Eagles, who remained unbeaten in the continental qualifying campaign, will make their sixth World Cup appearance in Russia in June next year, hoping that money related disputes will not distract their participation. It has been reported that NFF officials are keen to resolve the bonus arrangement with the players, including what they stand to reap from the FIFA money, by the end of the year. But THISDAY reliably scooped at the weekend that as a departure from the traditional flat rates across board, NFF is considering paying the Eagles only based on the number of matches and minutes played by each player. The implication of this according to an official privy to the negotiation is that not all the players will receive equal payment in Russia. In line with the plan, players who make more contribution in terms of number of games will be paid more than the bit players and those only going to Russia as mere squad members. The FIFA windfall is aside the structured and approved match bonus which the NFF will offer the players for every match apart from the graduated bonuses for advancing to the knockout stages of the tournament. Nigeria is entitled to a $12.5 million cheque from FIFA for qualifying for Russia 2018. The African federation stands to get more pay-out according to how successful they are in the latter stages of the World Cup. But sharing the FIFA money has always generated row leading to national embarrassment between players and officials. At the last World Cup in Brazil in 2014, the Eagles skipped a training session in Brasilia before their round of 16 game with France following row with NFF over money. They only agreed to play after government hurriedly sent $5million cash by a private plane to Brazil. THISDAY checks revealed that NFF will only share the net fee received from FIFA to the players as the football body will deduct some percentage as tax and sundry expenses on accommodation, security, transport and feeding which will be transferred to the federation.
http://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2017/10/30/nff-ponders-appearance-minute-based-bonus-for-eagles/ This is what will destroy the peace and unity we have in that team. I remember stories of players using "juju" on their team mates because of game time issues. |

A moniker mentioned Dele Aiyenugba some people here shut him down telling us Dele is too old for Eagles irrespective of his form in his club.
So let give d old ones who are still kicking d ball and in good form chance may be they are better.

forgiveness: Oh! It is no longer, 'when was the last time he played for Nigeria' it's now 'after his Cameo no coach deemed him fit to be re-invited.....' after you were confronted with 'were there no player that went to the 1994 WC without kicking a ball'!?
Martins has scored two digit goals in the last two years and that earned him multimillion dollars contracts.
It's not an excuse to get him off the team. What are saying? Are we not discussing based on points each person is presenting? Martin has no value to add to that team. End of discussion. |

edi287: Etebo has the same attribute as Alli and Muller i.e they are very good in exploiting space and making runs from deep. He can play as a 10 i.e AM provided you have creativity on the wing and a good ball playing CM behind him. He can always switch positions with someone like Iwobi during the game. He does not have the abilities of those players you mentioned. For the kind of system we play he can be mobilized to the wings. He is not creative enough for possessive kind of football. Keep the AM slot for Mikel. Even Iwobi can be mobilized to the wings. |

He was no longer consistent.
However, Martins Obafemi has been consistent over 6 years in a role. The difference is clear. Yekini was actively part of the 98 WC qualifiers. When last did Martins play for Nigeria? Let's call a spade what it is and move on. |
