soetanoreoluwa: Exactly.... Muazam deserve a debut... But I don't see Coach Rohr changing Agu... My opinion though... I think he believe in him...
I know Agbo or Aweziem will play either Argentina or Algeria...
Is looking like omeruo is fading out of SE Do you think Muazam has a chance to make the midfield to the World Cup? If no why border in the first place. |

Goke7 and realpoacher's posts just sparked some thing off my mind.
Can we do an x-ray of reasons for our failures in our last 5 participations?
Best way to solving a problem is actually to get to the root of the problem.
We as fans will not play for the Super Eagles in Russia. We are not part of the coaching crew. But we can make our own contributions by profiling the reasons for our 5 previous failures to go beyond the second round of the world cup.
As I have always said here, do not underestimate the contributions we make here. They go very far. To be honest , some times, I feel Rohr and his crew get some things from here because we have seen things play out severally after we discuss them here. Plus I know a couple of officials visit here. Eg Amuneke's U17 media officer and Siasia's late U23 media officer.
Most of us here know the history of Super Eagles participation and performances better than Rohr. So he may just learn a thing or two from us.
I expect opinions and counter opinions. All the same we can keep the discussion or arguments constructive.
To discuss this issue I need enough elders in the house as we may need to go back in time to address issues even from 1990 when Westerhof took over. The younger generation too can equally contribute as a lot of those old games are available on YouTube.

Goke7: that is why we have not been doing doing well in the world cup since 1998 leaving 1994 as our best performance despite being a new comer. we shuffle our players like garri after we qualify and expect to win the world cup, who does that? the likes of rufai and even yekini of blessed memory had no business with the 1998 world cup as we had a team from the 1996 Olympics that was still in a killer mood. The 2008 olympic team would have fared better at the 2010 world cup in south africa like the 2009 u-20 Ghanaian team who formed the nucleus of the 2010 world team that did well. na sentiments we dey use kill our national team.
Team hunger is necessary for world cup glory, look at the costa rica team at the last world cup? how skillful were they but see how they dispatched the italian team. Another correct post. I salute. |

realpoacher: Please tell them o! It's obvious many of them will make terrible coaches. Imagine changing 60% of your team who qualified you for the world cup. To them every new player is to be played as if SE is a training ground. SMH!
I bet if these guys were to coach Man U, Dortmund, or Chelsea, they will change the whole squad after their loses last weekend.
Imagine fa, everyday change this person, bring this player, I will remove this person and replace him with this person... Bla bla bla... Inexperience, ignorance and short memory in full display.
You all should remember 1998- Peter Rufai, 2002- Opabunmi, Ogbeche, 2014- Uchebo, and Co!
Make una carry una shortsightedness comot from our SE body because whether you like it or not 80-90% of this qualifying squad members will make the world cup.
To be forewarned is to be fore hand!
I rest my case Hahaha. Oga tell dem o. Abeg try and be more regular here. I always love your posts.Always Straight like an arrow to the point. Many of us have refused to learn from our past mistakes. With the exception of 2006 we have been in all World cups since 1994 but we still don't carry along lessons learnt from our previous failures. |

Goke7: so what are you implying? another beating abi? shebi na those small boys una wan carry go Algiers? that's on a lighter note anyway. I will continue to maintain that the algerian match should be seen as a test run and one of our warm up games to the world just like the Argentina game that has been planned, we don't have enough time for experiment. The New coach will want to prove his mettle. anything less than a draw is unacceptable, reason, we may need to see this match like the Argentina match. Another beating say wetin? In football there are certain names you see or hear that bring back memories whether good or bad ones. Like each time English football faithfuls see or hear the name Marodona the next thing that comes to their mind is 'the hand of God' episode. Each time the Egyptian fans here the name Beloumi the incident that led to the blinding of an Egyptian player comes to their mind. Each time you see or hear the name Escoba, the Colombian player that got shot by his country men for scoring an own goal in the 1994 WC comes to mind. Each time you hear the name Rodger Miller, his heroics at Italia 90 quickly comes to mind. Each time you hear Platini and Tigana, Euro 84 comes to mind. So na so e be me for Rabah Madjer. Nigeria really needs to win this Algeria game. We have qualified yes but it is also important we end the race unbeaten. And I think this would be an all time record for any Nigerian team to the world cup. Not like those days when due to unseriousness we will be losing away to teams like Liberia, Sudan, Gabon, Angola, Guinea etc. |

[His Encounters With Nigeria And Other Interesting Facts About New Algeria Coach MadjerRabah Madjer
https://i2.wp.com/www.completesportsnigeria.com/wpcontent/uploads/2017/10/1244682_heroa_577x400.jpg?w=577&ssl=1
Following the appointment of the legendary Rabah Madjer as new coach of the Algerian national team, Completesportsnigeria.com’s JAMES AGBEREBI highlights SIX interesting facts about the 58-year-old, including encounters with Nigeria as both countries get set to meet in a Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier in November…
HE WAS A MEMBER OF ALGERIA TEAM THAT LOST TO NIGERIA IN 1980 AFCON FINAL
Rabah Madjer made his debut for Algeria in 1978 and went on to make his first appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations in 1980 in Nigeria.
Algeria qualified from a group that had Ghana, Morocco and Guinea, beat Egypt 4-2 on penalties in the semi-final and qualified for their first ever final.
In the final, Madjer was brought on in the second half for Tedj Bensaoula but did little as Algeria were thrashed 3-0 by Nigeria.
HE WON THE 1987 UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WITH FC PORTO FC Porto qualified for the final of the UEFA Champions League (known then as European Champions Cup) for the first time in 1987 and met German giants Bayern Munich. On parade for FC Porto was Madjer who scored a memorable back-heel goal in the 77th minute to make it 1-1 after Ludwig Kogl had given Bayern the lead on 25 minutes. With 10 minutes left, Juary scored Porto’s second goal which secured their first-ever UEFA Champions League title.
HE WAS VOTED AFRICAN FOOTBALLER OF THE YEAR IN 1987
Following his contribution to Porto winning the 1987 UEFA Champions League, Madjer was named 1987 African Footballer of the Year. Madjer finished ahead of Cote d’Ivoire’s Youssouf Fofana (second) and Cameroon’s Francois Oman-Biyik (third). He became the second Algerian after former national teammate Lakhdar Belloumi (1981) to win the award.
HE WON 1990 AFCON ON HOME SOIL At the AFCON 1990 in Algiers, Madjer captained the Algerian team that became African champions for the first time in their history. In the final against Nigeria, Algeria won 1-0 thanks to Cherif Oudjani in the 38th minute. Madjer’s two goals at the 1990 AFCON were in the 5-1 demolition of Nigeria in the opening game of the tournament.
HE WAS A MEMBER OF ALGERIA’S SQUAD TO THE 1982 AND 1986 FIFA WORLD CUPS Algeria qualified for the FIFA World Cup for the first time in 1982 held in Spain with Madjer in the squad. In the play-off round, Algeria eliminated Nigeria 4-1 on aggregate to qualify alongside Cameroon as Africa’s representatives. And in the surprise 2-1 group stage win against favourite West Germany, Madjer scored Algeria’s first goal, making him the first man to achieve the feat for Algeria at the World Cup. Madjer was in the Algeria squad to the FIFA 1986 World Cup held in Mexico.
HE COACHED ALGERIA TO THE MALI 2002 AFCON After his first spell as Algeria coach from 1993 to 1995, Madjer was re-appointed in 2001. He led the team to the Mali 2002 AFCON where they lost 1-0 to the Super Eagles in their first group game. They eventually crashed out in the first round after later drawing with Liberia before losing to host Mali.
https://www.completesportsnigeria.com/interesting-facts-new-madjer/ Each time I hear that name Rabah Madjer, the first thing that still comes to my mind is that 5-1 thumping of Nigeria by Algeria at Algiers 90 opening game. I wept uncontrollably. Madger scored 2 goals and gave like 2 assists. Prior to that game I had never seen Nigeria so beaten and humiliated. That game till date is still our worst AFCON result and our worst defeat to any African side in modern day football history. |

forgiveness: First of all, the coach said Akpeyi is his 3rd choice, therefore Akpeyi is out of the equation and Ikechuckwu Ezenwa is now in to compete with the rest.
From what my eyes saw this night, if I am the coach I will bring in Uzoho because he is naturally good.
No 1
Vincent Enyeama
No 2
Daniel Akpeyi
No 3
Francis Uzoho
If NFF are dogmatic about Enyeama not going to the world Cup then
My number one is
Daniel Akpeyi
No 2
Francis Uzoho
No 3
Dele Alampasu The one goalie I am almost certain will make it to Russia is Ikechukwu Ezenwa. He may likely end up as second choice to either Enyeama or Akpeyi. He has always proven to be a good back up goalie. Recall one of our qualifiers I think Algeria game when Ikeme, Ezenwa and Alampasu were invited. Ikeme got injured and Akpeyi was invited to replace Ikeme while Ezenwa still remained backup. I think Rohr feels Ezenwa doesn't have the kind of exposure to be a number 1 keeper. As for the young goalies, I don't see Rohr taking more than one, that is if he takes any of them. So for your second list of goalies one of Uzoho and Alampasu may likely have to drop. |

ChrisKels: Kayode the undisputed man of the match. Him no even say make him pity his younger bro in Uzoho Chai. Kayode's electric pace would make faint hearted defenders and goal keepers pee their pants. Dude is a pest, a bad thorn in the buttocks. Kayode is really hungry for the World Cup. Dude even tackles as though he was a defensive player. We need him
Uzoho looks the real deal. Dude is tall, good reflexes, strong grips, reads the game well to know when to come out and when not to. Comfortable with the ball at his feet . Above all he is a confident young goalie. He was tall during the U17 days but definitely not this tall. He has that physique that makes good goalies. The future looks bright.
A bittersweet match for me. Would have been happier if it ended goalless with kayode the liveliest outfield player and uzoho the goalie with the highest and best saves. Lol i kinda sounded selfish and too patriotic there huh? Chai what would you have me say?
I pray alampasu displaces the first choice at fareinse too. Ezenwa's rumored move to OGC Nice looks like it was made up and will remain a rumour until everything is done and dusted, I wish him the best.
My three picks for the world cup remains, enyeama, ikeme and uzoho but if ikeme fails to recover in time, then enyeama, uzoho and Ezenwa would be our best bet. You are still banking on Ikeme? Pray he even plays football again. |

Kog45: Honestly i don't have any choice for now coz a lot of things needs to be sorted out before WC no thanks to Ikeme health, his health really affect d team.
Enyeama is coming from retirement and he still need to show us is still d same Vincent.
Ezenwa rating is high now.He has d confidence and composure of a good keeper but Argentina match may make or mar his chance as number 1 choice.
Akpeyi has d experience but need to work on his confidence as a keeper, though Rohr rate him highly.
Uzoho i watched today deserves a call up ASAP coz he has d confidence and read d game very well.
Allampasu need a chance like Uzoho in his club, though not new to Rohr coz he always have d opportunity to be in camp.
Ajiboye is a good keeper no doubt but need a bigger stage to show us what he can do,hope he w get his chance during CHAN,likely Ezenwa w moved in January transfer window. Has Ezenwa found himself a club in Europe yet? |

We can praise him all we want for his defensive qualities but we need to realize that he is first of all an attacking player. Exactly. |

krattoss: and it seems rohr prefers him likes that...and that also suits the gaffers tactics...cos explain to me how he has played almost every match under the German manger while ur onyekuru looks on from his plastic television screens and iwobi comes from the bench??
If u 're questioning Moses Simons ability and style of play?? Why don't u question vic Moses 's cos I think they have similar style of play... Difference between Simon and Victor is Victor is more direct and often drifts towards the centre. Victor also combines well with the AM and other Midfielders. Watch our 3rd goals against Cameroon and Algeria respectively you'll understand. Simon is always on the touchline and will always run towards the corner line before running into the 18yards box or pulling out one cross for any lucky striker in position. Modern football has gone past that. |

If u 're questioning Moses Simons ability and style of play?? Why don't u question vic Moses 's cos I think they have similar style of play... I am not comparing Onyekuru with Simon. Infact, presently I will pick Simon over Onyekuru for various reasons. My point is Simon himself is not even supposed to be a starting material for the Super Eagles. Recall Iwobi was injured ahead of the Cameroon clash which was why Simon Started. And going into the Zambia game, Rohr refused to change a winning team, which I also agreed to. Go back to the games where Victor Moses and Iwobi were present whether Simon started. To me he is more of a back up in the absence of Iwobi and V. Moses. And he needs to grow his game and be more versatile. He doesn't play like a modern winger. |

forgiveness: It was obvious Rohr change tactics and pattern of play when he brought on Iwobi.
I maintain, Simon Moses followed Rohr instructions, even Shehu Abdullahi followed instructions because he never crossed the half line until Iwobi came in.
They practiced this before the match during training.
Iwobi would have gassed out if he started the game.
There was no abracadabra Iwobi did. It was absolutely the game plan. Simon does not have the capacity to make those touches and moves Iwobi made. Simon knows only one way to play: puts his head down, takes on any defender that comes his way and pull out a cross hoping that any of the strikers would be in a position to score. Wings play has gone beyond that. I am sure you watched the great George Finidi play. Tijani Babangida himself had to adjust to how Finidi played just that TJ was more pacey and more direct. Simon has the pace but he is not even direct.Always playing himself into tight spaces. Ahmed Musa has the pace and he is direct but some times it will seem he left his brains behind while running. I am a natural winger. I will know a great winger when I see him. Iwobi's type of winger/AM will really go places. Simon's kind of winger will only do well at youths level but will fail to progress as he ages. Have you noticed his current stagnation? To me he has not improved since he graduated to the Super Eagles. Samuel Chukwueze is another kind of Winger that can be devastating. I hope he is well groomed in a good club. He can be totally unplayable on his good day. He runs very well, takes on defenders, direct and has good eyes for goals. |

Kog45: Honestly before Cameroon i was wondering what was going on,seeing respected guys here preferred Nwakaeme over Iheanacho and d called for Aaron Samuel over Kayode and Oyekwuru. Not to rubbish them o but it seems a good number of them have never seen us play Cameroon at a competitive level. Or probably they were too young to recall. I think the last time was at 2004 AFCON. Cameroon have always presented bulky teams. And each time we beat them we used skills and trickery, sleek football. You remember also that Kanu's pass to Utaka that gave us victory in 2004? That was what Mikel and Ighalo replicated. Teams like that cannot cope with skillful and sleek football. That's why they typically end up with 9players against such teams. |

chrisooblog: personally i think it's a mistake compering S. moses to onyekuru. even though they play in similar positions their styles differ. onyekuru is more of a striker cum winger in the mould of CR7, thierry henry, osaze etc guys who can play on the flanks but always have a goal threat in them. such players will end up in the number 9 position. it will be more logical to compare onyekuru to kayode olanrewaju both play on the wings and have an eye for goal
simon on the other hand is a pure winger who just loves to take on and beat his man. the main stat that would be used to judge him is his number of assists but he will be also expected to contribute his fair share of goals. simon's game is most similar to people like hazard, robben, di maria and the likes. it would be more logical to compare simon to vicmo, peter olayinka, samuel kalu or even ahmed musa.
that said based on team honours obviously simon moses is ahead but on individual achievements henry is definitely ahead. more goals, good number of assists, signed by a club in a higher ranked league, better career trajectory etc but like i said before i think they have different roles for us to be putting them side by side. it's like comparing hazard to morata Reason why Simon is still in the Super Eagles starting 11 is because we don't have so many wingers better than he is at the moment. If he Doesn't change his style of play he'll end up like the likes of Pius Ikedia and Ahmed Musa. Simon has a lot to learn in terms of his final passes. He works so very hard but the product of all those hardwork is just average or less. You saw how Iwobi changed things upon his introduction against Zambia? That is how a modern winger plays. You notice Iwobi didn't run much on the wings which gave Shehu acres to make his runs. Iwobi went deep close to the AM position which was where Shehu's cross came to meet him and the rest is history. Ahmed Musa does that too once in a while but Simon is always on the flanks and doesn't really combine well with the number 10 player. His own is to take on defenders one-on and finally play one way-ward cross. You saw how Iwobi combined well with Mikel and even Ighalo. Same thing in the game in Ndola. Yes Onyekuru is up and coming but as you rightly said I would like to see him develop as a striker. We are blessed with wingers in this team but we don't have depth in the striking department. Rohr should draft in Onyekuru among the CF jare. |

Nigerian-Brazilian Striker On The Radar Of Everton, Porto & Brondby Published: October 23, 2017

Nigerian-Brazilian Striker On The Radar Of Everton, Porto & BrondbyNigerian-Brazilian striker Dominic Vinícius Eberechukwu Uzoukwu is on the radar of English Premier League side Everton, as per reports.
According to Scouts In Attendance, Everton, FC Porto and Brondby representatives were at the Vejle Stadion (Vejle) on Sunday to watch the Danish First Division game between Vejle BK and Viborg.
Unarguably, Dominic was the most impressive player on parade for both teams, having netted a first-half brace for Vejle BK, though he later scored an own goal four minutes before the interval.
Born in São Paulo 22 years ago, he represented Brazilian clubs Clube Atlético Paranaense B, Cuiabá Esporte Clube (MT) and Associação Portuguesa de Desportos before transferring to Vejle in the summer of 2016.
Dominic has had an impressive start to the 2017-2018 season, scoring 7 goals in 12 matches while providing three assists.
The Afro-Brazilian, who was the top scorer in the Danish First Division last season with 15 goals, is contracted to Vejle until June 30, 2019.

tbaba1234: As a Dm alongside Onazi or Ndidi.. Just something that could be experimented in a friendly. Instead of bringing in Mikel Agu, Shehu might do better. DM is his natural role after all. In fact there are even too many natural DMs in that team. Onazi, Ndidi, Agu, Shehu. Agu was drafted in when Shehu was deployed to the defense. I personally rate Shehu ahead of Agu in that position. Shehu, just as how he is disciplined as a RB is a very disciplined DM. Ie playing to instructions. If Aina takes the RB position the DM to drop for Shehu should be Agu. |
