Daninya11: South Africa failed to qualify for Chan as they lost 4-2 on aggregate to Zambia. But that qualification pairing is not fair. The two heavy weights of that Sub-region. So the rest like Namibia, Botswana, Swaziland, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Malawi and Madagascar get to play each other. Not fair. |

BascoVanVeli: Nigeria 1-0 Benin. I am liking Edowu at CF, Ariwa and Eze at CB and Osas RB. Who are those that said Rabiu Ali and Chima Akas should not be in this team. The Eagles have been more imposing but they need that second goal fast. They should also be wary of a slip up at the back. Ezenwa has been on holiday thus far. |

komekn: It depends on what you define patriotism to be
Blind unquestionable support for all things Nigerian, there's no point me telling a manager I have a great player when I know he cannot cut it.
It's like our top defender Omeruo is considered to be top class. But after leaving youth football he has not made any waves. But we consider him exceptional talent in my opinion he is just about OK nothing more.
He played for Middlesbrough but didn't impress and as such the much expected step up to the EPL never happened.
So because he is Nigerian, I should hail him as the next John Terry or Sol Campbell Who here has ever said Omeruo was top class? The Omeruo you chose to use as example did you not see him progress from U17 through U20 to the Super Eagles? Didn't you see him at the 2013AFCON and 2014WC? What is currently happening to Omeruo happens to most footballers though to various degrees and at different stages in their careers. Are you telling me there are no English born Nigerian players who hit peak early and are currently on a declining curve? Your patriotism is in doubt and I know you can support the English national team when they play against Nigeria especially if they have one or two Nigerians in their line up. |

EEGA: Nwakaeme will destroy Cameroon – Ogu
today.ng
Aug 19, 2017 9:39 AM

RTV Slovenija
John Ogu has backed his teammate at Israeli champions Hapoel Be’er Sheva, Anthony Nwakaeme, to take his chance should he be called up for next month’s crucial World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon.
The 28-year-old Nwakaeme has been prolific for his Israeli club – 38 goals in the league in the last four seasons – but he has so far not been called up by the Super Eagles.
His super strike this week in a UEFA Champions League qualifier has again sparked off agitation for his call-up.
Ogu said the all-action striker will make his mark if given a chance in the national team.
“I have played with him for three seasons now. He’s a cool head and he deserves his chance (in the national team),” Ogu said.
“He is very strong, very fast, he is skillful and he knows how to score goals.
“If given the chance, he will show he’s ready, he will come to fight in the important games against Cameroon.
“I believe he will get his chance against Cameroon.” A player that has not even integrated with the rhythm and flow of the team. |

komekn: Your assumption is wrong entirely I am probably more Nigerian than you and in my opinion.
Patriotism is for me about integrity, truth, justice and Fair-Play. If these attributes make me un Nigerian and unpatriotic them I am 100% guilty.
When I look at players I don't have a double standard, I have a world standard. I dont change the standard and measurement because I want to show preference to Nigerian players. Good is good national and origin are irrelevant.
You aspire is to aspire to be the best by a world standard not the best in Nigeria but the world.
As for lamenting I already do but not for you, but for my beloved country Nigeria. Your patriotism is in doubt. Several of your comments speak anti-patriotism. |

komekn: There is huge disparity and complete difference between succession and progression.
I talked about progression. So let me reiterate, in comparison to Argentina that you mentioned with regard to the class of 2008 U23's. Who has progressed the most individually and collectively the most in terms of World football. Kai! You are comparing Nigeria to Argentina. I have told you we are not at par with them naa. Who doesn't know. But that doesn't mean that a good number of our youths internationals have not PROGRESSED. there is also PROGRESSION in our national team or do you want me to read out names of our current players that have progressed from U17 to U20 to U23 to the Super Eagles? You can't tell me our players have not progressed career-wise. But comparing us to Argentina is not fair. By the way compare the progression of the Argentina 2013 U17 team to that of Nigeria. |

Danycrusoe: let's watch out, by 2019 these guys from the U15 npfl tourney and the NFF'S U15 team could spark another influx of talents The qualifiers start first quarter of 2018. Really no much time left. Good they have started playing series of friendlies. That should be sustained and these friendlies should also include our West African neighbors particularly Ghana and Mali. The last Eaglets were busy trashing amerture sides with no confrontations with other national teams and when they faced the Nigerien team they crumbled. I recall Manu's boys started with trashing Rwanda In a friendly in Calabar 5-0. |

AndreTAyodeji: Ahmed Musa`s invitation is sure whether match rusty or not. However i wont mind if a home based defender is invited in place of Omeruo because he brought this upon himself with his defensive errors, turkey loans and he is not even different to akpeyi in terms of his confidence. He has been playing with under 18 players at chelsea because they feel he is not good enough and that is his class which would have really damaged his confidence.Honestly,i feel for the guy because few days ago i was checking out Nigeria 2014 world cup squad which led me to squawka and the way they were praising and raving on his sterling performance against Bosnia with his age really makes me happy but when i remember his present predicament i just couldnt help it.I think he should be excused from the squad to sort out his future as we just dont need him with this his present state. It is the home-based defender that will command the confidence you talk about? |
