BascoVanVeli: What does all this mean? I don't get why u are getting worked up like u must prove me wrong or something.
I mentioned Moses, Iwobi, Musa, Ezekiel and Etebo before Henry Onyekuru, Samuel Kalu and Dennis even came up. These players have national team caps so why are u avoiding naming them? BTW I never mentioned Olaitan.
Stanley Amuzie also started those matches, do we bring him back also? These guys play on the wings for top clubs in Europe, where does Shehu play? Me worked up. Haha haha. Victor Moses is a player we missed so glaringly against SA. He is back and you want him confined to right Full back. In Tbaba's voice....it is a waste. |

BascoVanVeli: The difference is that the players I mentioned have at least some form of experience at playing that position on the highest level, can u say the same for Shehu and Kenneth? You say wetin? Henry Onyekuru, Samuel Kalu, Dennis Bonaventure, Michael Olaitan, play at which highest level? None of them even has a single national team cap. Some form of experience? Did you not see Shehu at RB at the Olympics? Did you not see Shehu at RB against Egypt both in Kaduna and in Alexandria. Did you not see Shehu against SA recently? Omeruo is an AFCON winner and played at RB in one of our group matches. He also has WC experience. Did you not also see Omeruo at RB Against Algeria? Which "highest level" and "experience" are you talking about for those players you are referring to? We need players that will attack the Cameroonian defense for full 90mins and you say we confine Victor Moses to RB so we can play any of those rookies you mentioned at RWF? |

TheGoodJoe:
I am not sure but I think he was. Either way, I think Alampasu did not make it to the final camp based on club duties.
I will gladly welcome Emmanuel Daniel to camp to work with the current trainer to select the best among all.
Alampasu vs Emmanuel Daniel, I am not sure but Akpeyi vs Emmanuel Daniel, I am sure that Emmanuel Daniel is better. Emmanuel Daniel was obviously better than Alampasu at that U23. Forget that his club did not release him. He would not have displaced Emmanuel Daniel in that Olympics team. Fast ward to now I cannot vouch that Emmanuel Daniel is still better than Alampasu. Emmanuel Daniel has not been involved in any competitive action for a year now. That was then and this is now. |

TheGoodJoe: The news does not make Akpeyi a better choice. During the Olympics, it was clear who was the better goalkeeper.
You are making it look as if it was Akpeyi that displaced Emma in Orlando Pirates.
Emma Daniel beyond reasonable doubt showed he was a better keeper than Akpeyi. Was or is he better than Alampasu? I mean Emmanuel Daniel. |

BascoVanVeli: Those were some good players I mentioned nonetheless. We also need to be solid at the back if we are to have any chance of beating Cameroun. Victor Moses offers us a guaranteed lock down defender and he will also open up space for the forwards. I don't believe it would be confining him because full backs score goals for Nigeria and torment defenses also. We need him more in that WF position. As I said we are not much blessed with choices so we need to maximise the potentials of our players. A shehu Abdulahi or Kenneth Omeruo can man that RB. |

zuchyblink: Cameroon will beat Germany on a rough pitch. We must use physically active players on Cameroon because we would play on a not-too-good pitch. Being technical on physical teams works well on a smooth pitch Please name the "physically active" players that you want Rohr to add to the team. |

safarigirl: the final job of a striker is to strike. If a striker is involved in overall play, but is not scoring those goals, he has failed.
Midfielders are there for creation, defenders are there to defend, if a striker is a hybrid of a MF and DF, but is not scoring, nobody really cares.
The primary aim of a striker is to strike, every other thing is secondary. This clear understanding of roles is the reason CR7 has been trumping Messi for the past two seasons and is set to trump him the third time. Striking is the primary role. But striking and creating opportunities for others too to strike makes you a better striker. |

TheGoodJoe: Either way, Gabriel Jesus conversion rate is still poor. He squanders chances. That is his major challenge. Apart from that, he is superb in his all round play, hardwork, passing, speed, ball control, uses both feet and plays comfortably on all roles in the attack and attack midfield. I still feel Nacho is a better finisher. But, Guardiola wants all round play. A modern striker does more than waiting for that super final pass to Jab the ball into the net. Strikers of today are a lot more enterprising in terms of involvement in overall play. |

TheGoodJoe: To me it is hunger. I agree these Brazilians have exceptional abilities but it takes hard work to keep growing.
Watching Gabriel Jesus practicing his skills, I wondered if we have players who can spend time working on their skills on the training pitch. It is a blend of the two but your abilities keep encouraging you to go the extra mile. When I see how some of our young players are hyped here I just shake my head. Especially when I hear things like 'world beater'. The Nigerian factor will always set in. |

BascoVanVeli: Moses Simon, Ahmed Musa and Iwobi have all played @RWF. We can add Etebo, Henry and even Imoh Ezekiel. Not forgetting Bonaventure and Kalu. Victor Moses towers above all those players you mentioned. How can you say we should confine him to the RB position. We don't have that kind of options upfront that will warrant us to do such. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 10:54pm On Aug 21, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe: There is this hunger I see in some players, especially Brazilians I do not see in our players. I think we need to change our mindset and believe we can do better.
My jaw dropped when Danilo made that sprint to get the ball and also take that shot. That is pure hunger and belief in his talent.
There was this long ball that Ederson played. As soon as he hit it, I told someone that is a pass. I was still shocked when the ball landed squarely on Aguero. That kind of ability takes lots of hard work and that is a major determinant for greatness.
Our players need to develop this kind of hunger to achieve extraordinary things. It goes beyond hunger. Abilities play a major role. Now you understand why a coach would see more prospects in a Brazilian teen than a Nigerian teen. |

Joebie: Two goals back to back is the answer.. The following day he scored a cracker for Kano Pillars. if the story is true, then Rohr is not sentimental. Will he make the match day squad? That's another question. I don't care if a 40 year old scores the winner for us against Cameroon. Sunday Mba is not wanted in his club today, but he was old even when he gave us the AFCON trophy. That's the only thing saving our face in football right now.. if not we will still be talking about the 94 class.. I'm not canvassing for Rabiu Ali.. but let's stop all these judgements based on age etc. Rohr watched the Benin match live. If Rohr thinks he is good for an invite, then so be it. Sunday Mba was 24 when he featured at that 2013 AFCON. This is the same Rabiu Alli that a lot of people here criticized Salisu for including in the CHAN list. Nobody has also commended Ikechukwu Ezenwa for the penalty save that ensured we qualified for the CHAN. Why? Because he is Ikechukwu Ezenwa, a guy alongside Akpeyi, that we don't want in the Super Eagles. |

Mickael2: Moses Simon? sometimes I wonder why you just like dwelling on mediocrity. no offence but I honestly wonder that sometimes. Moses Siomn is not close to those players I mentioned, it is not an insult just the fact there.
and mind you we are talking about RWF, I believe Karo plays.as a LWF Moses Simon will not make my first 11 with the current crop but I definitely rate him higher than Onyekuru, Kalu, Olaitan and Bonaventure. As for Etebo. I hope you know that a player starting at LWF doesn't mean he cannot alternate with the RWF. Victor Moses also operates from LW, so I have to throw Etebo into the mix. |

He scored 1 goal in their 4-2 away loss late last year, and scored a brace and had an assist in their 3-1 home win on the 28th of May this year. So ikechukwu Uche has joined your list of returnees. Mickael2: I have Onyekuru, Kayode, Olaitan, Samuel Kalu, Dennis etc etc. we have a lot of firepower on the wings. not to mention that Moses at FB would help us build from the back The only player I can pick out there is Kayode and that one sef na manage. We will confine Victor Moses to RB and Onyekuru and Olaitan or Kalu would be playing RWF. Chairman reason am abeg. We need Victor Moses in a Forward position. Shehu Abdullahi is not doing badly at RB hate him or like him. We need Victor Moses' fire power upfront abeg. All those players you mentioned are learners. |

goldfish80: I don't do bias, sentiments or tribalism. If I wasn't Igbo most people would have tagged me a tribalist for pointing out the flaws in Ndidi and Kelechi's game. I honestly don't know which state Onazi or Akpeyi comes from but I have defended them here.
Critically analysing that goal, the Zambian defence went on a vacation. They were carved open by Ideye and Kelechi had an easy run at the stranded goalkeeper who has 2 options, which were to either foul a goal bound Kelechi or pray he slips on his way to goal. The only exceptional I see here was Ideye having the presence of mind to flick that ball to Kelechi's in that crowded area. I say go back again, free your mind of bias and look at it again. |
