BascoVanVeli: That could be a way of looking at it but i doubt that since they already have a feeder team. The coaching staff might want to work closer with him, this doesn't mean he is getting a regular shirt. Don't you think the coaching team can also work close with him even if he is with the feeder team? As reported by Dannycrusoe there is a new competition for feeder teams. Don't you think taking part in that competition, where he would likely see more game action, be more beneficial to him than taking part in just drills and no action for a boy who is not even 15yrs old yet? For his age I feel he needs to learn and grow with his mates. |

Danycrusoe: Npfl u15 promise tournament has started yielding results as ABS promotes their u15 captain Olasegun olakunle to the main team
ABS promote NPFL U15 stars, Olakunle, Okoromi to senior team
Published on Friday, 12 May 2017 14:31 Hits: 198
Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC have announced the elevation to the main squad of two players from the youth team that recently won the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Under-15 Promises tournament. One other player from their youth squad and four other new players were also brought in to complete their mid-season transfer window activities.
The club's media disclosed that team's director of football, Alloy Chukwuemeka announced the development in Ilorin where he explained that the players have been signed based on merit to complement the effort of others at the club.
The duo of forward, Okoromi David and midfielder, Olusegun Olakunle were moved to the ABS main squad following their performance at the recently concluded junior league organised by the League Management Company (LMC).The third youth player, Ogbodo Chidi was however not in the squad that participated in the NPFL U-15 tournament.
Olakunle won the Most Valuable Player at the tournament and has been assigned jerseys number 37 while Okoromi will wear jersey number 38. ABS thus become the first club to integrate their youth player into the main squad after the tournament which only held for the first time.
Chukwuemeka said new players brought into the club from other clubs include Deemua Best, a midfielder who joined from Rivers United, Akinbo Oluwasegun from Ikorodu United, Orji Ejike from FC Abuja and Mudasir Nurudeen, a goalkeeper from Kaduna United.
All the players have been assigned jersey numbers with Best assigned number 20; Akinbo will wear number 23; Ejike is to wear 3 while goalkeeper Nurudeen will adorn jersey number 21.
Chukwuemeka explained that Nurudeen, a former Kaduna United goalkeeper was spotted during a Nigeria National League (NNL) match in Ilorin during the mid-season transfer window. Does the club not have an U17 team? Why promote the lad straight to the senior team? Don't they know what career progression means? |

terzurum5: Man City Insider – How Guardiola Destroyed The Confidence Of Iheanacho
https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/IMG_2892.jpg
Highly informed Manchester City insider Simon Bajkowski says Manchester City Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho should leave the club permanently this summer.
Iheanacho has not featured regularly for City this season as manager Pep Guardiola prefers other strikers ahead of the Nigerian, who signed a new contract till the summer of 2021 nine months ago.
Bajkowski believes the manager played a role in stifling the 20 year old, who has been severally shut out of the matchday squads this season, and looks set to end the season with fewer starts and goals than last year, when many felt former manager Manuel Pellegrini was holding him back.
“In January, his absence from squads was explained by saying City hadn’t created many chances “for this kind of player”, he wrote in his column.
“In short, Guardiola doesn’t value what the 20-year-old can offer, Yaya Toure has forced his way back into the team, Aleks Kolarov and Jesus Navas have surprised in new positions and Fernandinho has popped up in most areas of the pitch.
“That has not happened with Iheanacho despite absences for Aguero and Jesus, which suggests a permanent move would be better for him than a loan.
Better for the player to take his talent elsewhere to a team that does suit his playing style. A clinical finisher, Iheanacho should not have a problem finding a top team”.

tbaba1234: Guardiola jokes: Iheanacho will get more game time with new manager
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has joked Kelechi Iheanacho will need a new coach if he wanted more game time at the club, according to media reports.
The Manchester Evening News reported Guardiola made this joke earlier this season.
The report further stated the City boss does not rate the Nigeria striker and it would be best if he quit The Ittihad permanently and not go out on loan next season.
“Even without factoring in new additions that the transfer market can provide, it is hard to see how a year at another club could do any more to convince Guardiola than what he has shown in training for the last year,” reported the Manchester Evening News.
“Better for the player to take his talent elsewhere to a team that does suit his playing style.
“A clinical finisher, Iheanacho should not have a problem finding that – German high-flyers Hoffenheim are one of the clubs said to be interested that could offer him Champions League football next season.
“For City’s part, they should make a handsome profit on a player who appeared on their 2014 tour and bolster their funds for what is expected to be another busy and expensive transfer window.
“It will be a shame if Iheanacho does leave, but it is surely best for all parties.”

Joebie: No! we don't cry. We simply move on. Do you personally have a big ego? Rejection is a part of life. Some of these players never had their Nigerian parent in their lives while growing up. Some of them will never feel Nigerian unless you give them a course to. Showing interest in them is a first step. They may take interest and start to look at Nigeria's football history, that's if their parents never played an active role in this regard while they were growing up. Welcoming them to the SE family is another. We have to treat situations differently. We can't always apply a general rule. So do you just dock just because you are scared of rejection, and miss a chance to land a player that would have represented Nigeria?
Sir, following your rule, we will not have the likes of Ola Aina in our fold now. I can still mention some others that were courted before they agreed. Please we only need players who will be committed and patriotic. Any player who doesn't chose Nigeria just let him be. Beg them to play and we'll continue to beg them to play. And please keep the discussion civil if you want me to continue in this discussion. |

Joebie: Thank you.
We need to improve football in the grassroots and our domestic league. But we also need to make provision for special talents groomed abroad. Winning them over is a win for us. If i'm getting Icon4s clearly, he is saying these special players in question need to first show the interest. Oga i no agree for that one oh. One thing I will never subscribe to is that there is only one way you should catch a fish in the midst of many ways. The idea of patriotism here is not realistic since many of these lads have never even visited Nigeria. Let's be realistic, we will need to do some convincing in some cases. What if you approach them and they are still not interested? That is what I am talking about. Look at Gabby Agbonlahon, Nedum Onuoha, Sydney Sam, Patrick Owomoyela, Ugochukwu Ehiogu, . If they chose their country of birth what do we do? Continue to cry? |

Your last sentence: but you wait for the white man to groom those players and then you want to harvest the best of them to your country. |

Joebie: your argument is appalling. Developing our youth system is totally another matter. Every Nigerian born at home or abroad is a Nigerian. And we would need all Nigerians to improve be it in sports or otherwise. Hence we must always go for our best. Should we have a Nigerian player who goes abroad and becomes the best in another country, are you saying that country will never offer him their passport or ask him to represent them? Your argument is very misplaced especially in the current world we live in. People who have anything against foreign born Nigerians are delusional. I don't see how this stops you from developing your own. unbelievable. Rohr will invite any Nigerian that will add value whether Foreign born or Nigerian born. |

I will advise...for the lad to be watch closely.. he should be one for the future That is it. Watch closely. And if he is willing to pledge allegiance to Nigeria we give him the opportunity if the need arises. |

Joebie: We need to think about now and the future. We cannot afford to lose special players to England. This does not in anyway distract us from qualification. You want to secure all the special English grown Nigerian players? See, every year talented young Anglo-Nigerian players will be springing up. So also are Nigerian youth internationals. We can only invite those that fit into the team's program now and going forward. Besides, you want to snatch all the special English born players why can't you develop your own? You want to start harvesting yams from another man's farm when you also have the yam seedlings and fertile land to cultivate and harvest yours. |
