lexyman: @ icon. I really don't like ur proposed team ....but I noticed that u want players with wealth of experience in the back line also , in the midfield , but I would have preferred Musa in that position of Ambrose and Ndidi to replace Kenneth . And we don't really know what tomorrow holds for us ...but we need the likes of ighalo , in that attack when the going gets tough .... I know we will do well come Rio . Don't forget that is the super eagles that is going to play the next World Cup if we qualify . Yes i prefare more experience at d back as u know that is d major weakness in dat team. I would nt want Ighalo in this team cos i would love to see us raise younger forwards dat can compete for position with Ighalo in d attack. And may I know y u prefer Musa over Ambrose and Ndidi over Omeruo?Remember Ambrose is a natural centre back. |

I went back to look at the 2013 Flying Eagles squad (U20). A lot of peeps probably dnt know some of the following players were in that squad:
Wilfred Ndidi Kingsley Madu Abdulahi Shehu Johnbosco Amaefule(currently in Senegal) Aminu Umar Michael Olaitan Emem Uduok Olanrewaju Kayode Abdul Ajagun Moses Simon
They are all eligible for the Dream Team VI. |

TheGoodJoe: “Creating chances and scoring them are different, so I’m not concerned that we allowed Senegal to have the best chances of the match.”... Coach Samson Siasia.
The Dream team coach, Samson Siasia should feel very concerned about the porousness of our defence. In team building, the Chance created is very important. As we go forward in this journey, we are going to face more clinical teams.
Coach Siasia should work on the defence and the defensive midfield. It is important.
Coach Siasia, I beg you, do not forget Obinna Nwobodo.
Coach Siasia plays an expansive possession system. So he needs pass masters to make the team tick. The pass masters are important in the system working. If the team can not hold the ball well, the system weakens.
The likes of Scholes, Ballack, Pirlo, Xavi, David Pizzaro, Riquelme, Xabi Alonso, Modric, Thiago Alcantara, Silva etc.
These guys played their part in making possessive sides tick. I see this kind of Quality in Nwobodo and I think he can help Siasia's team gel. Yeah, the problem with this team is more with the midfield and defense. But thank God we got the ticket. The final against Algeria is nt much of importance to me. Truth is 75% of this team may not make the Olympics. For that defense the following Super Eagles players are eligible as U23s: Kenneth Omeruo, William Troost-Ekong, Chima Akas and Kingsley Madu not also forgetting the uprising Wilfred Ndidi. Note also that Musa Mohammed (the 2015 U20 Captain) would be available for selection. Remember we can present 3 over-aged players; I would personally recommend 2 defenders (Leone Balogun and Efe Ambrose/Obaobona) and 1 defensive midfielder (Ogenyi Onazi). Imagine our backline and DMF to be: Balogun.......Ambrose/Obaobona.....Omeruo......Madu/Akas .........................Onazi Possible Substitute defenders: Troost-Ekong, Ndidi, Mohamed, Oduduwa, Sincere This is a defense troop that can get the job done in Rio. The following players have staged a claim to places in the Rio Team (Not necessarily starting 11): Emmanuel Daniel (Should be promoted straight to the Super Eagles), Oghenekaro Etebor, Azubuike Okechukwu, Stanley Dimgba and Junior Ajayi. The other players will have to try hard in camp to impress the Siasia led Crew knowing fully well that we still have players like; Isaac Success, Imoh Ezekiel, Moses Simon, Godwin Saviour, Kelechi Iheanacho, Elderson Esiti, Alex Iwobi including 6 defenders I earlier mentioned. Also I believe Siasia will give Kingsley Sokari and Etor Daniel another opportunity to correct their wrongs. My Dream starting line up: .........................Daniel Balogun...........Ambrose............Omeruo............Madu .........................Onazi .......................................Azubuike Simon...................Iheanacho...........................Saviour .....................................Success WITH THIS TEAM WE CAN CONQUER THE WORLD. |

Business › Nigerian Government Set To Split The NNPC! by Icon4s(op): 9:54am On Dec 08, 2015 |
Nigeria's government is breaking up an all-encompassing oil bill that has been stuck in parliament for years, replacing it first with a law to overhaul the state sector which aims to close loopholes that bred corruption, according to a draft seen by Reuters. Under the draft legislation, the state oil giant NNPC will be split in two - rather than a series of units as envisaged by the stalled 2012 bill - including a National Oil Company that will be run on commercial lines and partly privatized. Africa's biggest oil producer has been trying to pass a new oil law for years but lawmakers have never agreed on every aspect of the 200-page Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB). In November, the petroleum minister said the government was working on a new PIB that would probably be passed in sections, particularly the thorny issue of a new tax regime that has been criticized by major international oil firms. The inability to pass a law and uncertainty around taxation has stunted investment in the west African nation, particularly in deep-water oil and gas fields. Now the government hopes that by submitting a series of bills, individually more modest in scope than the 2012 PIB, it will have a better chance of winning parliamentary approval and reforming the sector. The first new bill, drafted by the Senate and overseen by the oil ministry, is entitled "Petroleum Industry Governance and Institutional Framework Bill 2015" and aims to create "commercially oriented and profit driven petroleum entities". It is expected to be presented to senators this week. The bill repeals the act that created NNPC that contained legal gray areas that allowed mismanagement to go unchecked and billions of dollars in revenues to go seemingly unaccounted for as operating costs rocketed. Some noticeably problematic amendments are absent from this bill, such as allowing the oil minister to decide what to do with any surplus or allowing the Nigerian president to allocate oil blocks for exploration. But it remains to be seen whether further add-ons to the bill or later decisions will reconcile the conflict between what the new state oil companies need to run and what they should remit to the treasury. "The bill leaves open lots of questions around what roles the new national oil companies will play in the sector, and how they will receive and manage money," Aaron Sayne, a U.S. lawyer who focuses on the Nigerian energy sector, said. "But one can sense more strategic thinking behind it than in past drafts, and the bill does a better job than its predecessors of saying who will take key decisions after it becomes law." Under the Nigerian constitution, NNPC is supposed to hand over its revenues to the federal government, which then returns what the firm needs to operate based on a budget approved by parliament. However, the act establishing the state firm allows it to cover costs before remitting funds, in effect enabling it to do what it wants with the cash. Shortly after taking office in May, President Muhammadu Buhari described state coffers as "virtually empty" despite years of record high oil prices that lasted until mid-2014. Oil sales account for 70 percent of government revenues. The institutional changes in the new draft have been greatly simplified from the 2012 PIB that created many new regulators and broke up the oil company into separate downstream (refining and retail), upstream oil and gas companies. Instead, NNPC will be split into two: the Nigeria Petroleum Assets Management Co (NPAM) and a National Oil Company (NOC). REMOVING STATE OBSTACLES The NOC will be an "integrated oil and gas company operating as a fully commercial entity", the document states, and will run like a private company. The onus will be on its board to make profits and raise its own funding. The NOC will keep its revenues, deduct costs directly and pay dividends to the government, although the bill does not elaborate on the details. In theory, trimming NNPC down into two leaner companies could solve a chronic funding problem. Part of Nigeria's oil output comes from joint ventures with foreign and local companies in which NNPC holds the majority stake. However, NNPC is always behind on covering its share of costs owing to the slow pace of government approvals. To start off, the NOC will receive about $5 billion, or at least the five-year average of the amount of money NNPC had to put into joint venture operations. In October, NNPC estimated it owed around $6 billion to oil companies. The new NOC will also be partially privatized. At least 30 percent of NOC shares will be divested within six years of its incorporation. NPAM is expected to manage assets "where the government is not obligated to provide any upfront funding". These include oil licenses run under production-sharing agreements in which independent oil companies cover operating costs and pay tax and royalties on output. Compared with previous PIB drafts, the law curtails ministerial powers as board appointments are made by the Nigerian president and confirmed by the Senate. If passed, the law would also create a Nigeria Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NPRC) to oversee everything from oil license bid rounds to fuel prices. Previously, regulation was split between many bodies with ill-defined roles, leading NNPC to act in part as its own watchdog in a conflict of interest. A Special Investigation Unit would also be set up under the NPRC with the powers to seize items and make arrests without a warrant. The bight of Biafra covers the offshore areas of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa-Ibom, Cameroun, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon. The is where over 90% of Nigeria's offshore Oil reserves are situated. The competition at this level is close to that of d senior national team.I think he is a good player dt needs time to develop. However, expectations are too high on him. He would b a vital asset to our 2017 U20 & then 2020 Olympics if he keeps developing and improving. I think we are one leg into Rio. Even if we finish 4th, d play-off I think is against a 4th placed team from Asia of which even d current crop of U23 can ease pass. At the last Olympic qualifiers, Senegal finished 4th and qualified via play-off and went farthest amongst d African representative at d London Olympics. |

BlackAlbino6: Egypt’s U-23 semi-final qualification scenarios By Salma Abdallah Follow @Salmabdallah https://i1.wp.com/www.kingfut.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/efa-10082005Qp3Z5.jpg?resize=610%2C343 Photo: EFA official website
Despite drawing against Algeriaand Nigeriain the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, the Young Pharaohs still have chances of qualifying for the tournament’s semi-finals.
Egyptsit in the third place of Group B, with two points from a possible six. They were held to a 1-1 drawin their opening match against Algeria, before clinching a 2-2 draw against the Dream Team of Nigeria. The Pharaohs are two points behind Algeria and Nigeria, while Mali lie at the bottom of the group with no points.
The top two teams of each group qualify to the competition’s semi-final stage, while the top three teams of the tournament have their spots booked in the 2016 Rio De Janeiro Olympics.
The Egyptians are scheduled to face Mali, who have officially lost all their chances of advancing in the tournament, in the third match of the group stage on Saturday. Mali failed to collect any points from their matches against Nigeria and Algeria, losing 3-2 and 2-0, respectively.
Algeria – 4 points Nigeria – 4 points Egypt – 2 points Mali – 0 points
A draw or loss against Mali will be the end of the road for Egypt. To keep their hopes of advancing to the next round, the Pharaohs need to beat Mali for their tally to reach five points. However, winning Mali’s game might not secure Egypt a spot in the semi-finals, as the Egyptians’ fate isn’t entirely in their hands; they will have to wait for the match result of their competitors, Nigeria and Algeria.
Nigeria will be facing Algeria in their third group match on Saturday at 19:00 CLT (17:00 GMT), the same time of Egypt’s match against Mali.
Note: The following scenarios are all assuming a win against Mali.
Scenario 1 – Nigeria win, Egypt qualify: If Nigeria won their match against Algeria, the Egyptian team will then claim the second spot in the group and a place in the semi-finals alongside group leaders Nigeria.
Scenario 2 – Algeria win, Egypt qualify: If Algeria defeated Nigeria, the Egyptians will qualify in the second place as well, while Algeria will be on top of the group.
Algeria and Nigeria match ends in a draw: However, if Saturday’s match between Algeria and Nigeria ended in a draw, the three teams (Egypt, Algeria and Nigeria) will be tied on 5 points, pushing the group into tiebreaker rules.
According to the competition’s rules, the match results with the bottom team of the group – Mali in this case – should be excluded.
The rankings should then be determined by the greatest number of points obtained in all group matches between the teams involved. As the three teams will still be tied at two points and the goal difference will be the same, the greatest number of goals scored rule would apply.
Scenario 3 – Egypt qualify top of the group If Algeria and Nigeria match ends in a goalless draw, Egypt will qualify on the top of the group, as they will have scored three goals from a 1-1 draw with Algeria and a 2-2 with Nigeria. Nigeria will then come in the second place as they drew 2-2 with Egypt and 0-0 with Algeria.
Scenario 4 – Egypt and Nigeria qualify If Nigeria and Algeria match ends in 1-1 draw, Egypt and Nigeria will then book their spots in the next round, with each of them scoring three goals, while Algeria will sit in the third place.
Scenario 5 – Nigeria qualify, Mali acts as tiebreaker If Nigeria and Algeria draw 2-2, Nigeria will then be on top of the group with four goals scored against Algeria and Egypt.
Egypt and Algeria will then have the same number of goals; three goals from 1-1 and 2-2 draws, so their results against Mali will be the tiebreaker.
Algeria defeated Mali 2-0, so if Egypt won 1-0 against Mali, Algeria will advance. Egypt, however, will win the second qualifying spot if they defeated Mali with a three-goal difference.
Egypt will also book a direct spot in the next round, if they defeated Mali with a two-goal margin while scoring more goals than Algeria.
So, if Egypt beat Mali 3-1, they will have scored six goals in total, while Algeria’s tally will stand at five goals.
However, if Egypt defeated Mali 2-0, which is the same result of Algeria against Mali, then a drawing of lots conducted by the Organizing Committee will take place between the two Arab teams to decide on who will claim the second qualifying spot.
A 3-3 draw between Algeria and Nigeria will put Egypt outside the competition. Nigeria will then qualify on the top of the group with five goals scored from 3-3 and 2-2 draws, while Algeria will come second with four goals, after 3-3 and 1-1 draws. www.kingfut.com/2015/12/04/egypt-u-23-qualification-scenarios/ Summary for Nigeria is any form of draw will see us through. 2-2 draw and we top d grp irespective of the outcome of d Egypt vs Mali match. Mathematically, Egypt stands a better chance than Algeria. |

While Coach Manu is d ticky-tacker kind of coach with plenty of ball possession; Coach Amuneke believes in counter attacks & direct play without much ball possession. If u study the 2013 Eaglets well u will discover they played a blend of both. The 2015 Flying Eagles were not as pacey and as direct as they were at 2013 U17. There were several cases where they passed the ball too many times even in danger areas and got punished on some of such occasions. Let's see how these 2 coaches combine again with the 2017 U20. That team would be a force to be reckoned with. |

However, Group B is more complicated. Nigeria, Algeria and Egypt could finish on five points each, leaving results among the three in a mini-group to determine who goes through.
Any winner between Nigeria and Algeria in their clash in Dakar will go through. Both of them will go through regardless of the result if Egypt fail to beat already eliminated Mali.
However, if Egypt beat Mali, a draw between Nigeria and Algeria would leave three teams tied on five points and their results against Mali would be removed from the equation.

Mathematically, Nigeria has d best chance to scale through this grp. How? Nigeria jst needs a draw and no matter d outcome of d Egypt vs Mali game we qualify. It is actually Algeria that need an outright win to b sure of qualification. Why I said a draw will be enough for Nigeria:Any form of draw 0:0 or 100:100 & Egypt beats Mali by any margin and all top3 teams are tied on 5 pts. The matches against Mali will b taken off & Nigeria automatically go above Algeria bc Nig played 2-2 with Egypt while Algeria played 1-1 with Egypt. Ie we will have a higher 'Goals For' than Algeria. In this case We go through along with Egypt. Bt if Egypt draws or loses to Mali, Alg finish 1st & Nigeria second.ie if Nig vs Alg ends in draw. The other 2 possibilities for us: Nigeria wins and we top d grp. Nigeria loses and if Egypt loses or draw with Mali we qualify. Bt if we lose and Egypt wins we are out. Siasia needs to change his formatn in d next game. What he is facing was what Manu faced in that U20 game against Brazil: Having to accommodate Ajayi and Awoniyi in d starting line jst like accommodating Success and Awoniyi in dat Brazil game. Here u'll b forced to play a 4-4-2 formation which will leave gaps in d midfield. Siasia depleted dat midfield when he axed Sokari and Etor. Now, I dnt know so much abt this team so d question is if Awoniyi starts from d bench in d next game hu is dat AM player dat can effectively play behind Ajayi? This is where Sokari would have jst fitted in. Apart from momentary loss of concentration from d defenders i also fill d lack of midfield depth is mounting pressure on d defence plus the wingers are nt doing enough to support d left and right backs. The Siasia dat i know has always had problems with defending. There is hardly a game he does nt concede goals though he scores plenty of goals too. His favorite scorelines have always been 2-2, 3-2, 2-3, 4-1, 3-1, 1-3, 2-1,1-2. Go back and check his records. Somehow, i still believe we will go through.
