charlesemeka85: Oga the way you re making a case for him being loaned to a 3rd tier team insinuates that it's based on sentiment and pampering.
Let's call a spade a spade, even Abdul ajagun that I'm not a fan of has better career progression compared to that of Nwakali who showed more promise in age grade football.
For a young unpolished talented player out from Africa to any team in Europe the norm is starting him with the B side of the team where his adaptation and development will be monitored closely and if the player makes it to the first team of the club in half or 1 season interval that signifies that he is good.
Nwakali so far have failed even when arsenal loaned him to to Holland where he was expected to blossom in a season or two judging by his enormous talent and performance at the U17 world cup but he disappointed when he was tried in the Dutch top flight.
To make matters worst he flopped at Porto B team in the Portuguese 2nd tier which says it all.
Players like Azeez and others never had the luxury he had to showcase his talent in Europe but got where they re today out of hardwork, endurance and determination. I think some times it is better for players to start off with relatively smaller name clubs and work very hard to gain attention from the bigger clubs. In recent years Nigerian players that were acquired by big name clubs after the U17 have ended up struggling. They never got to stay and develop in their parent clubs. Kelechi Iheanacho - Man City Chidi Nwakali - Man City Musa Yahaya - Tottenham Taiwo Awoniyi - Liverpool Kelechi Nwakali - Arsenal Chidera Eze - Porto Now compare with: Wilfred Ndidi - Genk Victor Osimhen - Wolfsburg Samuel Chukwueze - Villarreal The later are the ones doing well in the national team today. So when next that big club wants to sign any of our next set of cadet players we should remember these cases. |

komekn: Quote me get a screen shot of any of my posts and using that under pin your deduction.
We have one extreme here were majority take our Nigerian players and give them huge accolades and anyone that doesn't agree with this view is filled with HATE. Oga, nobody needs to get a screen shot to prove anything. Yes, a lot of people hip praises on Nigerian players here but that is normal. If you don't celebrate your own who will? That is the same way the English Press and their fans hip praises on their own players. Some of us have some times tried to tone down the praises but you go to extreme to talk down Nigerian players. Are you not the same person that repeatedly called Isaac Success a waste Pipe? Which screen shot do you need for that? |

komekn: This is what a large majority of you guys do here.
The moment someone does not join the fanatical euphoric hallelujah praise train for a particular players. He is automatically labelled a HATER or does not like anything Nigerian.
Being objective and realistic dies not mean HATE.
I have challenge Humility and the ThSuperdelusional to back up these nonsensical propositions with a reference to a just one post. But they all went EVASIVE yoi too.
So here you are doing the exact same thing again. Komekn, I understand what you are driving at. Almost all of us here have in one time or the other been tagged as a hater of one player or the other. But often times you in particular go too hard on the criticism of Nigerian groomed players. And in most cases you are not being objective if you ask me. Try and be more objective with your analysis and people will see more reasons with you. |

Clementoke: Lol.
And who did they win exactly? They won SA 2-1 and the Semi-final on penalties. The others ended in draws.
I will prefer to comment on the team performance in a tournament than celebrating 2 wins ( one was via a penalty shootout) and 2 draws
I am still trying to understand how they got to the final to be candid. Infact, I wasn't surprised when someone mistakenly said they were walloped 4-1by Morocco. That's the kind of results you expect when Aigbogun leads a team Yes they got to the final in the same tournament that Senegal, Ghana, Mali and Host Morocco took part in and could not get to the final. Rather than you appreciating the fact that they supassed ur expectations and dashed ur hopes of coming here to bash the team u are busy down playing their performance. You expected a 4-1 loss to Morocco right? But they broke your heart. I know all this is because of the dislike for Aigbogun. And so u are wish for his team to be disgraced. You people forget that it is Nigeria those boys are representing and not Aigbogun. |

Joebie: It's on record that this man has paraded probably the worst Nigerian team in any FIFA competition. Don't expect surprises from him. I can tell a lot about any coach after their first tournament outing. It means u only started following football in the recent years. I wonder what was going through your mind when he was winning through the group stage and semis. You were probably disappointed. |

BascoVanVeli: I don't feel his style falls in line the philosophy that Abdu Maikaba and the Brazilian Everton left on ground. The board wants a more direct style but are forgetting we were crap with that style before those 2 coaches came along I am sorry to say o but do these local clubs really have style of play? Do those crappy pitches allow for any meaningful style of play? Even my Enyimba I cannot tell you categorically that this is how they pay. It was during Kadiri Ikhana and Okey Emordi that i know Enyimba had a unique style of play. Most of these clubs play kick and follow football. So John Obuh going to Akwa United isn't gonna change much of anything if you ask me. |

komekn: My guess without looking they larger majority are all playing in Portugal? ❓
Not sure why but l know a League one club was considering setting up an Academy there. It was between Guinea and Guinea Bissau. Nearly all their players play in Portugal. Reason largely because they are a former Portuguese Colony. Even their last U20 Team had nearly all their players playing in Portugal. It simply means they rely almost solely on foreign born/groomed players for their national teams. I don't know about any League one club setting up an academy but if it actually happens it will definitely be a major boost for their local football. |

safarigirl: so, any comments on the 16-year old that debuted for Barcelona today? Who watched?
Dude is from Guinea-Bissau, sadly, a country that barely offers the continent any football talent, so, he might eventually be a Spanish international. Their football is on the rise. They have taken part in the last two AFCONs. Last year they raised an all foreign based U20 Team that gave our flying Eagles a running for their money. They are taking football seriously lately. I recon they will fight to get that kid. |

TheSuperNerd: I know all these but fact remains that he belongs to the 2013 class. He took part in every game in the qualifiers in 2012. He was nicknamed "Rock of Gibraltar" or "barbwire" back then in 2012. Ndidi is a barracks boy who lived in the cantonment where I attended my secondary school in Lagos. I can see where he gets his disciplined mindset from. Qualifiers that didn't include the CAF U17. That is the main qualifiers bro But what do you think could be responsible for the lack of Progression from a lot of those Manu's players. Let's rub minds. |

TheSuperNerd: CLASS OF 2013 Nigeria U-17 graduates
"The Manu Garba boys"
Doing very well: Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester City, England)
Doing okay: Francis Uzoho (Omonia Nicosia, Cyprus)
Doing fairly okay: Musa Mohammed (HNK Gorica, Croatia) At a cross roads: Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City, England) - Bright Start at Man City... struggling to fly at Leicester. Gametime hard to come by so far in 2019/2020 despite fine comeback form in preseason.
Seriously Struggling: Isaac Success (Watford, England) Dele Alampasu (Unattached or Feirense U-23) Musa Yahaya (FC Porto B) Well, for Wilfred Ndidi, yes he was discovered by Manu but was not much part of the 2013 U17 as he failed the MRI even before the CAF U17. John Obu(U20 coach) actually took him to his first tournament. The boys that Manu featured at the U17 WC have largely been disappointing in terms of Progression. Again, this tells us that age cheating is not the only reason our youth players have not been progressing well. |

then our midfield woes will be over....
we can now concentrate on the defense and goal keeping department...
heard Rohr wanna call up Felix agu... I am so happy, pray he gets his passport before then.... and hopefully with additional one or two CB inclusion we're good to go.
hopefully we get Tomori or Udokhai then that's solved...we can start prepare for the world cup in Qatar....
prior then maduka, alampasu,uzoho...one amongst them will come good and lay hold on the number 1 shirt Sorry to burst your bubbles but even when we had Ndidi, Etebo, Mikel and Iwobi in our midfield we still could not say our midfield woes were over. I still believe in inviting a player and assessing him with a game or two before shouting Halleluyah! |
