Nah, putting him on the wings is a waste of talent and creativity. Iwobi excels in playing within tight spaces, giving short & long range passes, and releasing the strikers to finish play - that is, providing the final pass. That's his best role in the game. He doesn't have the speed to excel as a wing forward. O pari Mujtahida: thank you. i thought i was the only one who saw that iwobi is not effective on the wings. i see now that others too are looking beyond him merely playing on the wings and are looking for EFFECTIVENESS. |

Why is your voice going hoarse? With prerequisite experience and if he could cut out a few excesses in his game, Alex Iwobi can actually play that role better than Mikel. He's the closest thing to a natural playmaker we have in that team. Instead of Mikel 2.0, I will call him Jay Jay 2.0 O pari Mujtahida: the thing thesupernerd is the way our midfield collapses in the absence of mikel. its worrying. that is what prompted the cry for the inclusion of Nwakali in the team. it is really dangerous cos i should think our opponents are seeing how reliant we are on Mikel.
on the bolded i have argued the point here and my voice is going hoarse. |

It probably is; but not far from the truth tho. Like I told y'all a few days ago, Rohr is most likely going to select 8 defenders due to the players available to him (Balogun, Ekong, Shehu, Ebuehi, Omeruo, Awazien, Idowu, and Echiejile). And I think it makes sense for him to do that. O pari somehow: How do i post IG videos here?

Yes, on paper, the present squad is better than those around Diego but, for some reasons, the present squad don't play well for Argentina and those who play well tend to injured when you most need them. We shouldn't blame Messi for that, should we? O pari Martz101: who were the supporting cast for maradona in 1986, where the around maradona better than present day Argentina players? |

And by the way, to all you Joel Obi haterz, here's how Colin Udoh who was LIVE in PH on Monday rated Joel Obi's performance:
JOEL OBI 8
The real-life Energizer Bunny.
If he was playing for a ticket to the World Cup, there is little else Joel could have added to his game on the night.
He faded in the latter stages but that is to be expected for a man playing high-octane football in the early minutes.

Let's be honest, Real Madrid can win and have always won without CR7 (this last UCL semi finals and the finals proved that; plus the Euro cup finals). Can either Barca or Argentina win without Leo Messi? Well those other "Greatestses" had something Leo Messi never had with Argentina - that is, a strong supporting cast. And you gotta ask yourself why. Aguero is a world class player at ManCity but he never plays well for Argentina. Why? Higuin always goes missing in big games. Why?? Angel Di Maria always gets injured before the crucial games in every tournament. Why Messi can't do it all by himself. No one can. It's a team sport and takes 11 players. O pari mazimee: The Greatest (according to you) shouldn't wait for the world to serve him a World Cup trophy on his dinner table. He walk the aisle of groly like a boss and lift the trophy.
A Greatest that cannot do what Greatestses (if you like use that inglish at your own peril) has done in the past is that a Greatest? |

Thank you, bro! All these naysayers keep telling us how bad our performance has been .... forgetting that our opponents haven't been setting the world on fire either. O pari MetalJigsaw: And this could also be one of our strongest squads ever. (based on merit, talent, ambition, and determination) And the 'toughness' of the group could even eventually turn out to be only on paper if Rohr leads his pack to Russia with the right tactics and his thinking cap firmly placed in his bag of ideas.
If teams like Peru, Iceland can hand Croatia defeat. If Mexico, though not a small team could pummel Iceland 3-0, Then I'm confident.
It should be easy for anyone to observe that Whenever we have Mikel, Moses, Ndidi, Ighalo, and probably our CB duos, Troost and Balogun, other highly telnted alternates on the bench, we rarely struggle. In fact, we generate goals.
If we could squeeze defeat down the throats if Poland in their own homeland, and the highly rated Albiceleste (Argentina), then I'm confident. |

Please can somebody explain to me what's going on in Jorge Sampaoli's head? Are you guys aware that the only two friendly matches Argentina would play before the World Cup are against Haiti and Israel? Tell me what he intends to gain from those two useless matches?! And this is a team that hope to beat the likes of Brazil, Germany, France, etc. to the World Cup. These folks are just wasting Messi's time and talent O pari |

And by the way, DR Congo are no pushovers either. This is the same Congo team that played Egypt out of the park in Cairo and could've easily won that match, if they had taken their chances. And it took a dodgy injury time penalty for Egypt to beat them 2-1 in Cairo! So let's put this performance in perspectives as well ... they played against a good team. O pari goldfish80: Funny enough, if we had played Serbia on this same pitch, alot of people including you would have blamed the pitch for the shabby performance. Hopefully, the poor quality football is not gradually becoming a culture. The team must do better going forward. Will they still be camping in Austria? |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Icon79(m): 10:09pm On May 28, 2018 |
Haha!! I knew that this comparison was coming! Comparing those two friendly games is silly to say the least. First of all, the pitch today was so bad that it was simply impossible to play good football on such pitch. Secondly, the team (Super Eagles) was taking it easy. After what happened to Moses Simeon, nobody wants to get hurt on that bad pitch and miss the World Cup, especially playing against a team with nothing to lose (DR Congo). If you want to blame anyone then blame the NFF for wasting a good opportunity by organizing this friendly game in PH. Here's what I said to them on twitter: His Majesty @TalmudicSage More Replying to @NGSuperEagles This DR Congo friendly is a bloody waste of time by the @thenff. We should have used this opportunity to squeeze in another friendly against a South American team. Right now Tunisia is playing Portugal while we wasted time playing on the sandy patchy pitch of PH. #Shameful O pari goldfish80: Yes, the quality of football they played inspired a lot for confidence. Bros, that team B bossed Athletico in midfield all night long. Had them chasing shadows for long periods. What they lacked was better coordination in defence, which doesn't come overnight anyway, it takes a long time to drill a defence into shape.
Most of those guys deserves to rub shoulders with the big boys, if Rohr was more open minded. One of the problems this team will have to overcome is complacency. Psychologically, Africans don't function well without competition. Alot of these players know their place is assured after the Argentina game, this have affected thier output. Very typical of Africans |

I think they took the game to PH because the Rivers state governor was gonna rain $$$ on the team and their officials. So the NFF thieves decide to take the game to such a horrible pitch. They don't give a damn about protecting the players, all they care about is their pockets. Gang of thieves!!! O pari OMANBALA1: You cant fix a crappy pitch inn few months. Nigeria has a serious maintenace culture. They should have played in Eugene Esuene or Kano Pillars stadium |

Guys, unfortunately, I think Ola Aina is going to miss out on Russia. He isn't a bad player but he really doesn't offer anything that we don't already have in Idowu, Elderson, Ebuehi, and Shehu.
I think Rohr purposely wanted to compare Elderson in the first half and Aina second half to see who gets cut. And based on what I just saw, I think Rohr might decide to go with Elderson and Idowu.
