And Wiki is your best source for info on a player? Wow! No wonder your stats are so off-tangent... Lol... So four goals is what you saw? Wow... And in same source, it says he has played over 40 games in the Eredivisie ba? Lol

With all you claim to know about this and that about players scouting and all, I am really disappointed to see this.... It is indeed a shame. Big shame.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Icon79(m): 1:29pm On May 23, 2018
He might not be, but I would still want to see him get an invite after the World Cup. I think he shows much more potential than the likes of Kayode.

And by the way, 5 goals per season isn't bad for an attacking midfielder. Kelechi Nwakali is NOT a striker.

O pari

andrew444:
Yes nwakali is not good enough for SE no doubt but he is not a striker he is a central midfielder so how many goals do you want him to score ?

He played 30 games this season with 5 goals and 2 assist,so you want him to score as a striker ?

If this is the way you think stop watching football and stick to hockey...#anothermanwithnoclue#

Guys please let us NOT overanalyze this game or make it bigger than it is. It's purely a training ground game for Athletico Madrid. If you critically review the game you'll realize that Athletico Madrid could score whenever they feel like it. Anytime we score, they would just raise it up a notch and equalize. And once the game start drawing to the end, they promptly scored the winning goal.

Don't get me wrong, the boys played well ... all things considered, but you gotta realize that they played against a team that was going on vacation and just wanted to entertain the fans.

All I am saying is: Perspectives guys .... perspectives!

True. They made a lot of mistakes at the defensive end as well. I will blame that on inexperience and lack of team cohesion.

Good point about their tendency to over carry the ball. I was watching at work but that didn't keep me from occasionally screaming my head off sad

O pari

Nihilstjnr:
or defending for that matter.

What I saw in this game was that Nigerian players are still too instinctive and dependent on flair than their European counterparts.

sometimes the flair works- that 2nd goal was an amazing example- but you're never going to see space to dribble the same defender 5 times on the spot in any decent league.

A tactical person would have dribbled one time and passed the ball. The guy stood there dribbling the same man 5 times.

defending was a similar story. our guys were too quick to go to ground, or getting too attracted to the ball and opening gaps.

sorry..these guys ain't ready for real footy.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Icon79(m): 8:02pm On May 22, 2018
They definitely played pretty well, especially in the first half. Based on this game alone, I can declare Kelechi Nwakali and Samadi ready for an upgrade but, honestly, I don't think anyone of them is ready yet. And I said that because Athletico didn't get out of the first gear, so rating them on this game can be deceiving.

O pari

TheSuperNerd:
Nothing to add really.... These were indeed our very best today. Chidi Nwakali even showed another side to his game with his driving dribbling runs... Really impressive...

Omoyele had presence up top. Fine fine player. He even bagged an assist sef....

Samadi was magical in the first half with his touches, runs, and passes... Crested two beautiful chances wastes by Eduok and then later on by Destiny Ashadi.

Usman mohammed was great too. He grew into the game after a shaky initial start after coming on. And his goal was OH MY GOD!!!!

Musa Mohammed showed that we still have depth on the right even in our fringes. He was very lively... Defended well... Went forward well, recovered fine... He led well as captain on the day.

The rest pick themselves up. My MOTM on the Nigerian Side is Kelechi Nwakali.

Thumbs up to Salisu's Super Eagles Team B. Overall, they did well. Lovely game.

Choi, see the way our people dey rejoice say we don score Athleti. I am not sure whether they realized that Athleti are really not playing their game. Just look at the way that second goal was scored, there were about 5 Athleti players around but they didn't even bother challenging for the ball.

It's a fun game but Athletic Madrid are not taking it as serious as our boys, that's just the bottom line.

Nerdie, what's the name of the guy who's wearing #19?

O pari

TheSuperNerd:
K.Nwakali is class... Apart from his goal, his ball control and distribution in the middle has been easy on the eye. He us definitely one for the future.

Chidi Nwakali has been playing pretty deep and just trying to play safe.

Emem Eduok has the moves but he overdoes it most times and he overuses his body strength unnecessarily. He is trying too hard to impress.

Samadi Kadiri has been splendid. His runs, his well timed passes and awareness is really beautiful to see for one so unknown.

Musa Mohammed has been very spritely down that right.

Dayo Ojo has not asserted himself as he would have wanted but he is a good player.

Alhassan Muazzam was realy disappointing. Little wonder he was subbed out... But guess what destiny Ashadi is kinda worse than Alhassan so far. How could he miss that chance created yet again by The impressive Kadiri Samadi.
I hope he steps up in the second half.

Femi Thomas has been decent. The goal Correa scored him was a touch of class.

Whosoever is playing that LB needs a touch of the anointing. Sir BascoVanveli plsss what is his name again? Ejoor...

In all, a balanced game shaa... Hope to see more action and fight from the boys.

OK. Good point, let's compare their draw with Barca's draw over the past two UCLs:

2016/2017
Madrid vs Napoli---- R16 (compare playing Napoli at this stage with playing PSG. Which one is easier?)
Madrid vs Bayern--- Quarter (*remember that this is the Carlo Ancellotti's mediocre Bayern team)
Madrid vs Atletico--- Semi

2016/2017
Barca vs PSG---- R16 (*Now compare PSG with minnows - Napoli)
Barca vs Juve --- Quarter (*remember that at that time Juve was the hottest team in Europe having not lost a match in almost 1 year)

2017/2018
Madrid vs PSG(light 1 champion)----R16 (frankly, having come second in their group, Real wouldn't have hope for a better draw than PSG. Unless you feel that Manchester City, Manchester United, or Liverpool would've been an easier draw)

Madrid vs Bayern(Bundesliga champion)----(*Again, Real was given the best possible draw. UEFA saw Bayern struggled mightily against Sevilla, so they knew that it would be a good draw for Real. I mean, Liverpool has caught fire. Do you expect UEFA to pair them against Real seeing how Liverpool destroyed ManCity? Roma as well proved themselves to be giant killers at home, so definitely not a good draw for Real. Hence, based on the QF performance, the best possible SF opponent for Real is Bayern)

O pari

Mybettingtips:
tongue

Madrid easy knockout stage UCL matches? You are kidding right, don't be blinded by ur love for Barcelona. No easy draw for Madrid in UCL.

Pick the easy draw out

2016/2017
Madrid vs Napoli---- R16
Madrid vs Bayern--- Quarter
Madrid vs Atletico--- Semi

2017/2018
Madrid vs PSG(light 1 champion)----R16
Madrid vs Juve(Serie A champion)---- Quarter
Madrid vs Bayern(Bundesliga champion)----Semi

Those are back to back champions of their leagues. Madrid are not the cause of ur team's recent failure at the ucl competition.

Quarter back to back.

KPOM! But tell that to Nigerians. Haha!!

Losing a meaningless friendly match against Serbia almost sent some folks to frenzy. Just imagine what happens if he doesn't reach, at a minimum, the quarter finals in Russia. The way our people think sometimes makes you wanna scream are you freaking kidding me!

Remember how they trashed and disgraced Clemence Westerhof for losing in the round of 16 - on our first attempt! Nigerians can be very funny people.

O pari

charlesemeka85:
bragging about making it to the 2nd round? anyone saying that is just for saying sake. rohr have said it couple of times that he isn't expecting much from the team at the world cup but will take each match as it goes. they may be high hopes because of the teams current form and resurgence but notwithstanding even if the team crashes out from the group rohr will continue with his job. you don't build a team in less than 2 years and expect them to do wonders in a short period of time. this current super eagles is still work in progress with a lot of positives so disengaging rohr just because the team couldn't make it pass the group stage is indirectly disbanding the team and starting afresh with a new coach who will introduce a new pattern of play and his own choice of players. this have been the norm of our football for years and have slowed the progression of our apex team.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Icon79(m): 4:50pm On May 21, 2018
Omo, you just don't understand how things work in naija. Take it from me, Rohr is a goner if he doesn't make it into the round of 16 at a minimum. They are already bragging how we are going to make the semi finals, forgetting that this same team failed to qualify for the last TWO AFCONS!

O pari

charlesemeka85:
pinnick has done that already by given rohr a new 2 year deal. regardless of the teams performance rohr is on the right track and i foresee this team doing wonders in the next afcon if they qualify. rohr's positive input in this team is obvious by the way the team qualified in style from one of the toughest groups when no one gave them a chance. i must also commend pinnick and his crew for giving their immerse support to the coaching crew by creating an enabling environment for them to work. for once the interference of agents and God-fatherism which have bedeviled our national team for a long time is now a thing of the past. now players turning out good performances in their various clubs both in the local scene and Europe are given fair chances to prove themselves by inviting them by merit. now we have a coach who makes out to to visit our players in their various clubs to check how they are fairing and also intervene on their behalf when they aren't seeing much playing time.

But how does that explain Bellerin's snub?

O pari

TheGoodJoe:
Remember the Spanish coach, Lopetegui, is a tippy tappy footy ministry coach and if you compare Monreal and Marcos Alonso, you will notice that Monreal has a deeper level of education in the tippy tappy footy ministry than Alonso.

Monreal worked with Pellegrini at Malaga and Arsene Wenger which makes it easier for the Spanish coach to transmission, transmission is ministration to Monreal than Marcos Alonso.

Thank you! I just hope that the NFF and Nigerians, in general, would be patient enough to give Gernot Rohr a chance to continue his project regardless of how we perform in Russia. I don't like all these unrealistic expectations and targets they seem to be setting for the team. Our team is good but not that good compared with the teams we'd be facing in Russia.

As I was telling someone here a few weeks ago, our 2014 team was even more talented and more experienced than the team we're taking to Russia. The only thing we have going for us this year is the organization and hopefully the technical acumen of our current technical crew.

O pari

Bolowolowo:
You hit the nail right on the head. A well known sports blog did an on field 11 man team of guys who got snubbed by the French FA. All those 11 guys trump our squad any day. It really puts into perspective our lack of quality players. Nonetheless, this Pinnick led FA and Rohr have substantial changes to the way we approach football tournaments here in Naija. Our preparation and focus for this World Cup is a case in point. This might just be turning point for Nigerian football. Hopefully things change for the future.
