Ouch! You guys can be brutal. But I agree with you on one thing: Etebo is a true utility player. I believe he can play anywhere in the pitch except for, perhaps, CB. And that's why he would be on the plane going to Russia. You need such players in any team. O pari Mujtahida: Etebo can play everywhere but actually cannot play anywhere if we judge by his performances thus far. |

Why don't we hear about those ones?? O pari harbdulrasaq88: No fewer than 17 million Africans left the continent in 2017 in search of greener pastures, a new report by the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has said.
The ‘Economic Development in Africa’ report also said 5.5 million people moved to Africa from other continents while some 19 million international migrants moved within Africa.
the report found.
It said the large-scale migration of people within Africa tended to boost growth and lifted the continent’s whole economy, urging the world to dispel misconceptions and “harmful narratives” targeting migration.
The report also said cross-border movement offered “a chance for a better life, with the social and economic benefits extending to both source and destination countries, as well as future generations”.

Yeah yea .... you're right! Well, if that's the case, I've got good news for him. He doesn't have to worry about Musa at all because Musa ain't starting against Croatia. O pari MetalJigsaw: Croatia Defender Corluka More Worried By Musa Than Messi 1 June 1, 2018 10:53 am
Croatia defender Vedran Corluka has pinpointed Ahmed Musa as one of the main threats in the Super Eagles team ahead of their opening Group D clash at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Both players featured in the Russian Premier League last seaso and are expected to be named in the final squads for Nigeria and Croatia who will face off at the Kaliningrad Stadium on the 16th of June.
Argentina and Iceland are the other teams in the group.
Musa, one of the experienced players in Nigeria’s World Cup bound squad, played for CSKA Moscow on loan from Leicester City last season, scoring seven goals in 16 appearances.
“I have not been thinking much about Messi, because we face Nigeria first, a match that will determine our chances of reaching the next round,” Corluka who plays for Lokomotiv Moscow told net.hr. “I know some Nigerian players, especially Musa from CSKA Moscow.
“He (Musa) is very fast, pretty good and it will not be easy for us. “Every group is tough, everyone will come prepared. Against Brazil we will play the maximum because it is not possible for such a rival.
“Messi is phenomenal, everyone will enjoy playing against him, but this is not important for us.”
Musa has scored 13 goals in 69 international appearances for the national team since he made his debut in 2010.

kennysville and andrew, thank you both for a very sound analysis right there! Most fans think that speed in football is all about pace. That's totally wrong! Speed in football is all about time-space management. This entails proper reading of the game to cover passing lanes when you lose the ball and freeing up yourself receive pass when in the offense. To break it down to elementary school levels, it's denying your opponent the time and the space to operate. Like the legendary Xavi said “At Barcelona we understand football as a time-space concept”. O pari andrew444: Thank you for bringing up yaya toure.
Yaya toure has been slow from his twenties which is his Barca days under pep,he was never a fast player,he knows how to guide he got no much pace,he is regarded as one of the best midfielders.
What about busquets? That na na snail, but very good with the all and one of the best DM for the past 8 seasons,so being slow doesn't really matters |

Good analysis, edi. This is actually what I have advocated here in the forum a few times. And that system would improve us defensively as well, especially against a loaded midfield team like Croatia. Unfortunately, I don't think that Mikel would ever agree to give up that #10 role. O pari edi287: I.e as an inverted winger. A few people have said the same. It honestly depends on who is playing in the middle. He can obviously swap positions with an Ozil but not a Mikel. This is why I've been advocating for moving Mikel a bit deeper. Play Iwobi or even Etebo (if you're afraid of Iwobi's workrate) in front. When you have Iwobi - Etebo - Vic Moses or Simon Moses - Iwobi - Vic Moses behind Ighalo/Iheanacho, what you have is a very mobile and fluid front 4 capable of interchanging position at will. A Mikel as a Dlp can still be a big creative influence. Build up play will be better and they'll still be enough creativity in the final third. |

So you gotta take most of what you read on here with a big dose of salt. All things being equal, I expect Joel Obi to start in Russia ... unless Rohr decides to do seniority and starts Onazi because he's the vice captain. Apples to apples, Joel Obi offers more than Onazi in that position. O pari KevinDein: While some here don't think Joel Obi is even good enough to make the 23-man list, this foreign paper actually touts him as the star player from Nigeria to watch out for during the World Cup.

Croatia national team scout Ognjen Vukojević monitored the international friendly between Nigeria and Democratic Republic of Congo on Monday and has picked one Super Eagles player that impressed him. The former Dynamo Kyiv midfielder and teammate of Olarenwaju Kayode at Austria Vienna has praised the qualities of Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo on his debut for the Super Eagles.
''A real African player. Fast, agile, direct, very interesting,'' said Vukojević to Sportske Novosti. Croatia's talent spotter is expected to be one of the spectators at the Wembley Stadium on Saturday for the friendly between England and Nigeria.
''I am particularly interested in this game in London, they will be much more clear here, I want to see how Nigeria, who have a lot of players playing in the Premier League, performs against the English team.
''Will they possibly dominate or even the English will be dominant? This game will give a lot more answers than the match with Congo,'' added Vukojević. Nigeria and Croatia will square off in their World Cup opener at Kaliningrad Stadium, Kaliningrad on June 16.

This is actually one decision I would fault Rohr on. I mean, he couldn't even give the dude against DR Congo in meaningless friendly?? And he kept inviting him.. I mean, if he's that bad why keep inviting him? This Uche Agbo thing is a strange one, for real. I just can't wrap my head around that one. O pari jieta: Standard Liege midfielder Uche Agbo has told SCORENigeria he was not disappointed to be axed from the country’s World Cup squad because he was not given a chance to show what he is capable and he failed. Agbo was dropped from the Eagles provisional squad Wednesday along with Dele Ajiboye, Junior Lokosa and Stephen Eze. Despite his numerous call-ups, the midfielder only featured in a friendly against Togo in Paris last year. “I am not disappointed not to make the World Cup squad,” Agbo told SCORENigeria “Since the World Cup qualifiers which I have been privileged to be invited right from November 2016, when we went to Ndola to play against Zambia till date, I have been invited for all the qualifiers and the international friendly matches. “But I was not given the chance to play, so I am not disappointed not making the squad. You should be disappointed if you were given the chance and I failed and then I failed to make the World Cup.” The versatile star said he was proud of what he achieved with Standard Liege this past season. “My quality as a player is not in doubt after I had a successful season in Belgium by winning the Belgian cup and coming second in the league,” he recounted. “And I was privileged to be nominated five times in the Team of the Week, and above all I was nominated among the best 11 players in the list of U 21 players in the Belgian league. He wished the Eagles the best at Russia 2018. “I wish the team the best of luck in Russia,” he told SCORENigeria “We are one big family in the camp and I will miss the entire team most especially my roommate Chidozie Awaziem.” He said he will now spend the holidays with his family in Enugu. http://scorenigeria.com.ng/2018/05/31/im-not-disappointed-because-i-wasnt-given-a-chance-and-i-failed-dropped-eagles-star-uche-agbo/ |
