Rohr hints Jamilu Collins may start for Super Eagles against Libya 328 By admin -
October 11, 2018, 12:49 pm
Gernot Rohr has given a strong hint that Jamilu Collins could make his official Super Eagles debut against Libya on Saturday after closely monitoring him at his German club. “Collins is interesting for us. He has the qualities to play very well for us,” the Eagles coach said. “Perhaps he will start the game (vs Libya). “It is not just because he has a good left foot. He has a good physique, he’s quick, he can go forward and he is defensively strong. “I saw him play for Paderborn when they beat Cologne 5-3 and he did very well.
“Two, three years ago, Paderborn were in the Bundesliga and they now want to come back (to the top flight). They have a really strong team. “What I also saw from him before the Seychelles game was good, but he had a little injury, he wasn’t 100% to start the game. “He started the game in Monrovia against Liberia and he was good.” However, Rohr equally admitted the competition for the left fullback position is open in the absence of Elderson Echiejile, who has yet to secure a new club. Ola Aina and Bryan Idowu are the other options for Rohr in this position.

It took me 5 mins to declare this dude the new Victor Moses. And if he keeps improving, he would even be better than VicMo. Mark my words! O pari TheSuperNerd: The French Connection: Samuel Kalu - The Nigerian nomad at home in Ligue 1 By Robin Bairner
https://images.performgroup.com/di/library/GOAL/a5/37/samuel-kalu-bordeaux_1vs9lzdc8pwzs1u1yhyu23ura3.jpg
The young winger is one of a host of foreign imports impressing in le Championnat - the League of Talents
It has already proven to be a big season for 21-year-old Bordeaux winger Samuel Kalu, who has earned himself regular minutes at the Ligue 1 club while carving out a place in the Nigeria national side.
He was handed his international debut against the Seychelles at the beginning of September, in which he grabbed an assist, and now promises more. With an African Nations Cup qualifying double-header against Libya looming, Gernot Rohr has rewarded the youngster for his promising start to the season in Ligue 1 with what is becoming a regular berth in a the squad looking to rebuild after the World Cup. Editors' Picks
For Kalu, his debut represents a highlight of a career that has already taken him far and wide. His journey into the professional game started at the Golden Boot Academy, before taking him to France via short spells in Slovakia with Trencin and in Belgium with Gent.
https://images.performgroup.com/di/library/GOAL/67/9/samuel-kalu-gent-17042017_5awlay4etxrc1j4xzue0o5i4y.jpg
“I adapt wherever I go,” Kalu has previously admitted – and his success to date suggests that is indeed the case.
By the time Bordeaux swooped for him in the summer for a reported fee of €8 million, he had made fewer than 50 top-flight appearances with Gent but had impressed sufficiently in order for the Ligue 1 side to line him up as a replacement for the talismanic Malcom, who moved to Barcelona in the summer after exploding in France.
“I’m happy that he’s signed for Bordeaux,” Rohr, who turned out for the French club during his playing career in the 1980s, said in August. “I think he’ll give them penetration on the flanks because he likes to play in space. Against teams who like to defend deep, players like Kalu can help find solutions.”
His statistics in the 2017-18 season were formidable, having netted six goals and offered a further seven assists in only 24 league outings.
“He has an interesting profile, with speed and technical qualities,” Bordeaux president Stephane Martin told the press, indicating the chief reasons why the player he had been signed.
https://images.performgroup.com/di/library/GOAL/2a/88/samuel-kalu_1fe8w7k886g5h1rygrrfmjjb8o.jpg
The hope from both the club and the player is that he can replicate the spectacular success that Malcom enjoyed over the duration of a deal at Stade Matmut-Atlantique that will last five years. “Ligue 1 is another step,” the player, given the No.10 shirt, admitted when he signed with the club. He arrived on August 6 as Bordeaux’s first signing of the summer and in seven subsequent Ligue 1 appearances has mustered one goal and one assist. Despite relatively modest numbers, club coach Eric Bedouet has praised the importance of a player Nigeria hope can become a replacement for Victor Moses, who announced his international retirement a matter of weeks ago.
“For a centre forward, wingers like Kalu and Francois Kamano are precious,” Bedouet said. “Kalu’s crossing is very, very good. They both possess great physical qualities and have a little of the same style: they’re very quick, direct, powerful and physically-strong. “Look at the build of Kalu – he’s capable of stopping with the ball then accelerating again, making the difference in a game all in one action.”
The pair have often worked in conjunction this season and have been one of Bordeaux’s major strengths as they have powered into the top half of the standings.
Kamano, 22 and now into his fifth season as a professional, has hogged the headlines after netting seven times already, but Bedouet, who takes matchday responsibilities for the club, is well aware of the value of the duo’s powers. https://images.performgroup.com/di/library/GOAL/f0/95/french-connection-kalu-gfx_tnleypfoqlx61cmd2d6252wqa.jpg
“Both of them together, it’s quite annoying for opponents,” Bedouet added last week. “They have to continue these performances for the duration.” Indeed, Bordeaux have leaned heavily on the pair and will continue to do so in the weeks ahead as domestic and Europa League commitments mount.
For Kalu, it has been a whirlwind beginning to the season, but for a young man fast tracked through Slovakian and Belgium football, it is a feeling that is not unfamiliar. Progress in his career has been unrelenting, and despite a left-field route to Bordeaux, he will expect it to continue all the way to the top.

Thank you for posting this news article. I always laugh each time I see folks trying to give Sunday Oliseh credit for capping Iwobi. gosh, Oliseh wouldn't even recognize a talented player if one hits him on the face. O pari forgiveness: Because we wanted him to play for the U23 and to do that he must play for the SE first because he was not eligible to play for the U23 team due to the fact that he already played for England underage team.
Why Oliseh invited Iwobi – Dikko
Shehu Dikko
The 2nd Vice-President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Shehu Dikko, has clarified why Super Eagles handler, Sunday Oliseh, invited Arsenal’s U-21 player, Alex Iwobi, for next month’s friendlies against Cameroon and DR Congo.
Iwobi, 19, was handed a late invitation by Oliseh and Dikko says it is because U-23 coach Samson Siasia, needs the teenager for the U-23 and he must play at full international stage for Nigeria to make that possible.
“The call-up to Iwobi is simple a footballing as well technical one and for the good of the country. Iwobi has declared intention to represent Nigeria and he is good enough to represent Nigeria at U23 level. However, as he has played for England at the junior level he cannot play for Nigeria again at the junior level as FIFA would only approve his change of Nationality if he plays for the main Super Eagles,” Dikko wrote on his
“Therefore, his call-up now is to get his nationality change sorted and thus make him available to play for the Nigeria U23 If selected.
"Hence, Oliseh called him up on the request of Siasia who wants to use him for the U23s and by this action Nigeria will have secured his allegiance and this would also further motivate other players like him to come along.

Nigerians are some of the most disgusting human beings on the planet, earth. Once a player isn't invited, he would suddenly become the second coming of Messi. I tell you, if Kelechi Nwakali wasn't invited the wailers would be wailing about his non-invite. Listen, if Ebere Eze wants to play for England, let him freaking go and let the door not hit him on the way out. We ain't gonna miss him. We've already seen how that (playing for England) is working for Tammy Abraham. BS upon BS O pari edi287: SMH is anyone surprised by Ebere Eze's U20 invite?? It was coming. There was absolutely no reason for Rohr not to invite him like he invited the Nwakali brothers...even if it's to train with the team and be on the bench. People will say it's just U20, but if this guy moves to the epl - he's a 100 gone. Southgate is a guy that likes taking risks with youth. If Ebere Eze performs for the U20 - then he's a 100 on his radar. Well done Rohr. Your DM fetish better make us qualify and perform well at AFCON or e go be for you. |

A look at the UEFA rankings shows that 4 of the top 6 teams in Europe come from La Liga!
