Politics / Re: Femi Fani-kayode Is "Cooking" Another One. He Just Bombed Sanusi & Hausa's by iconaus: 12:32am On Dec 29, 2013
The problem with the yorubas is the they dont like the truth. Sanusi said it all . Nigerians are no fools . Nigerians know the capabilities of each tribes . hausas know yorubas only that they feel more comfortable forming political allies with them for only purpose of divide and rule and to keep igbos who are perceived to be formidable out of power and to control Nigeria in this way hence the formation of APC . But this wicked and ill orchestrated alliance will not longer stay to lord it over Nigeria as GEJ leadership will eventually bring the existence of Nigeria to an end . The christian igbos has nothing in common with the Hausa /fulani moslems.

Nonybb: The core reasons they are fighting Jonathan is (1) He is NOT a muslim. (2) He is from the Minority. (3) They are rapidly loosing out on National Cake. (4) They Strongly believe they are Born-to-Rule. (5) They felt Betrayed by the PDP agreement to return Power to the core north (remember the christian northerners do not matter here, just them). (6) They have islamic Agenda (7) They convincingly believe that they are the majority and can decide the fate of all. (cool The Northern Oligarchy are rapidly pushed out of the Oil Wealth controled by there cabals. Investigation shows that 83% of Oil well belongs to Politicians of Northern extract. (9) They control a huge stake on federal Appointment, as much as in a percentage of 70 and this percentage are fast dwindling. (10) Islamist bitterly detest Kaffirs or infidel to rule them

man! you said it all . they think Nigerians are idiots we know what is happening now . GEJ is corrupt his govt is corrupt as if corruption is new in nigeria - bullshit . Using corrupt to deceiving people with out saying the real reason why they hate GEJ. the reasons have been said by the above comment.
Politics / Re: The Real Reason PDP Members Are Defecting? by iconaus: 12:07am On Dec 29, 2013
Simple the north and west dont want GEJ because he perceived to be different from former leaders who were from the same clique . Again , moslems are not comfortable when a christian is in power and their domineering mentality would not allow them to let go . finally, Gej appears to balance the lopsidedness in terms of govt posts, army , infrastructure etc that has never been seen in the history of Nigeria ; in short GEJ looks the way of minorities which displaces north and especially the west from their usual positions of benefiting immensely from Nigeria wealth to the detriment of other tribes hence the west propaganda against GEJ . GEJ is also perceived to be a Biafran - who in secrecy the north/west vowed not to rule Nigeria again after the civil war . The defection is not to allow GEJ to seek the second term because GEJ second term will snuff life out of North/west completely and stops their domination of power in Nigeria and pave way for New generation . Power is slipping thru the fingers of the clique that have held Nigeria to ransom and change is about to happen .

Like I keep saying...the greatest mistake GEJ and his Ijaw crew will be making is counting on Ibos for support when the shytee hits the fan....they will distance themselves as usual while reminding them of past betrayals....

Na lie - Igbos are 100% behind GEJ . We trust him more than the north/west who are power hungry and who have ruled this country since independence and had nothing to show for it rather corruption, tribalism and killing of igbos and destruction of their business and property out of malice and jealousy.

Afam4eva: What has the deportation saga got to do with Jonathan. Some of you just come out to chat crap just because you have access to internet connection. if anything, the utterances of Dokubo, Clarke and other Niger-Delta leaders will serve a more injurous blow to Jonathan than anything an Igbo man will say. In the same vein, the unguarded statements made by some Northern leaders could also serve as a death pill for whichever Northern candidate that will be presented by APC or any party for that matter. That's the sorry story of our democracy.

besides the north first started the ethnic politics even during the PDP convention that gave GEJ the ticket , Atiku employed ethnic tactics and stated that they will make the nation ungovernable for GEJ and that continued till date - it is a kind of bullying GEJ and the igbos who have that genuine and sincere hearts decided to come to the rescue of GEJ given that the north and partly the West have dominated power for a long time in Nigeria and would not allow the minority from the south south to rule . The opportunity for this nonsense to come to an end has come . Lets see how APC will win Presidency with out the east and the south and some part of middle belt.

What is obvious here is that GEJ administration has a destiny and the destiny has to be fulfilled . Nigeria cannot be the same again after GEJ- all these will lead to disintegration because the common people have seen the truth about Nigeria and the people holding Nigeria to ransom . What we need now is confab which is obvious to us all because Nigeria is not working but these evil people are not comfortable with that and want to stop that by trying to impeach GEJ .History is in the making again - the 1966 situation might repeat its self again.

Philip Tosin: GEJ may be a good or bad president, I'm not assessing that. But one thing i see clearly is that GEJ is not a smart politician. PDP was formidable in OBJ's tenure, bt nw what are we seeing.. We all know that the north doesn't want GEJ, nw instead of him to play smart and make more friends and supporters, he's busy making enemies even wt his own kinsman (Amaechi). Obviously, he has succeeded in making enemies for himself against 2015 and by his political careless act, he has helped to strengthen his own opposition

Because GEJ is displaying real democracy unlike Obj who rigged all elections and used force to silence opposition and again GEJ came from non- ruling clique whom they thought is dull and quiet and can be controlled but they failed to control him and he initiated a transformer agenda that has never been experienced both infrastructure wise and politically by giving other marginalized tribes a chance in an effort to balance things.

Truckpusher: Finally all the political armed robbers are aligning with the so-called progressive party and Nigerians can't still see that this is a grand scale gang up against GEJ's administration and Nigerians because the sharing of Nigeria's wealth the way it's usually done is no longer possible under this man that doesn't talk too much but he is moving despite the too many pitfalls, traps and insults hurled at him and it even got so ugly that even Obasanjo had to mud sling him in other to book his respected place in this den of thieves called APC since he couldn't control the son of an ordinary fisherman after controlling soldiers for years.

GEJ will be vindicated and history will prove him as one of the greatest leader ever.

GEJ wants to change the present structure on ground that doesn't guarantee equal representation hence the call for his head by these mafia that has been holding Nigeria ransom for years and only the blind and gullible will fail to see that truly there is a cabal and now it's no longer as rosy for them as usual they want him out at all cost.

I do not see any APC or anything progressive about them ,all i see are the following :

Good point

Bunch of criminal political elites from the SW with corruption as their way of life if you like hate it, it is the truth

Traitors from the SW and SS who are ready to settle for crumbs and only what matters to them most is their personal interest and once it's protected they'll sell to anybody

Northern Islamaofascist fundamentalists with their born-rule-mentality knowing that their days are numbered as a strong political voice in this country should the national conference become a success

Bunch of political jobbers who wish to flow with this tide and make their own political breakthrough

And finally let it be known that the battle line to reclaim Nigeria from the hands of these mafias, conmen and thieves have been drawn, but the question is whom will you pitch tenth with?

Typical Yoruba justice, kill a group of innocent people for the sins of few that never acted on their behalf. Your day of reckoning is coming.

You must think Igbos are your people that depend on the government to excel, Okonjo was already a shinning star, Nigeria needed her, and not the other way round, deal with that.

Obj sacked the political high ranked military officers and killed the rest because he was a blood thirsty coward, and was scared of those men toppling his government, he didn't do it for anyone. Yes Obj is a selfish Yoruba tribalist whose selfish interest often overide his tribalist, but his tribalism part is still there, nevertheless.

Again this guy nailed it again . i am happy people understand nigeria politics . No matter cunny OBJ tends to be, i am happy some people are smart enough to know whom he is

Billyonaire: APGA Chairman captures a little of the history of OBJ when he was in power. GEJ is making sure that the cabal who has been controlling Nigeria is shown the way out of political relevancy. Whether they are in PDP or APC.

What Jerry Rawlings did in Ghana with a gun is, what GEJ is doing in Nigeria, without a gun. I wish Nigerians see the vision. We do not need these career politicians sit on our natural resources anymore.

Congrats to GEJ for being a silent Lion, Congrats to GEJ for being humility personified, Thank You GEJ for freeing Nigeria from the Cabals.

By 2019, they will totally lose grip of the steering of Nigeria, giving chance to Young Educated Nigerians to have a chance.

Finally,
Amechi has joined the APC, which was why he shunned the meetings of South East and South South governors.

Oshimole has opposed the national conference and has recently appeared on a "Movie" Tilted "Go and die"!

Okorocha has become silent for now after his bid to hijack the APC leadership in Imo State has failed.

The interest of the people must come first.
Our leaders must ask for our aspirations because they represent us.

Those among us who betray our aspirations as a people must know that history will not be kind to them.

We are at a threshold of history: Nigeria to be or not to be.

Our region is suffering because we have refused to understand Ngieria.

Awolowo left a legacy for the West, Bello, left a legacy for the North, and my question is: what legacy did Zik leave for us?
We cannot be more Nigeria than other Nigerians.

We must watch these men!

efulofu. this attitude has made igbo a perpetual slave in Nigeria . it time for igbos now to start becoming politically relevant in Nigeria like other regions. yes Ngige is the best candidate but he is in the wrong party - a party formed to continue to marginalise NDi igbo and put us in everlasting bondage and subjugation. If APC had won; this will be a serious political blow handed down to Ndigbo and a north/WEst Party will ride home easily come 2015 , But the victory by APGA follwed by PDP sends strong signal for 2015 .

Two things counted against Ngige . Ngige is becoming too greedy . One time governor and a senator. He was voted to be a senator against our beloved Dora Akunyiri when he contested under ACN while Dora contested under our party APGA . Now he comes again under APC thinking to win again. He should have stepped aside for a new hand . To worsen situation though still loved by Anambra people including me, he was in a wrong party APC that belongs to Hausa and yoruba - people who hate igbos . Thank God that igbos political consciousness has come alife . Days are gone when other tribes esp yorubas and hausas that play regional or tribal politics from the ist day in Nigeria while igbos show non nonchalant attitude to regional politics - now with the fight against GEJ and igbo deportation - we have started playing tribal politics and it has come to stay . Lets see how Presidential election can be won by APC without SE and SE .

Ngige failed because of party and greediness. Rochas is next . Igbos are becoming politically wise and are now playing regional politics which other regions have been playing and this is dangerous for Nigeria Unity. But i like the development because this will make us politically relevant - dont forget that igbos are all over the country .

Politics / Re: Gov. Amaechi Launches APC In Rivers State by iconaus: 2:51am On Nov 09, 2013
kawkab: Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State was shown this after on African Independent Television launching APC in Rivers State. He was the special guest at key note speaker at the event. He used the opportunity to lam-bast the PDP and federal government picking holes in the policy and implementation and also used it as a forum to justify his stands against the Jonathan administration.

He did not also fail to criticize key political stakeholders in Rivers State, claiming that they are playing "stomach politics" and that they are driven to team up with the federal Government against him by hunger. He kept making reference to a former deputy speaker; but it was not clear whether he was refering to Austin Opara or Chibudom Nwuche - both former deputy speaker of the National Assembly.

While Rotimi Ameachi may be on point on some of the things he mentioned; they way he is going about it is disturbing; because you can't be claiming to be a member of nPDP or PDP and at the same time be openly advocating for another party even as the Special Guest at their launch and outing; I don't think that if Rotimi Amaechi is the PDP national or State chairman, he would condone this from another person.

Please nairalanders what are your opinions as regards this.

confused! APC will fail in Rivers . Rivers is GEJ stronghold . Amaechi is going against the wishes of the majority of the River people by trying to transfer power to the North against the aspiration of Niger Delta people .

Politics / Re: Nigerians Have No Reason To Feel Discriminated In India (A Must Read) by iconaus: 2:24am On Nov 09, 2013
infonubia: Read this article by Priyadarshi Dutta of the Niti Central. It is a response to Jacob Nwadibia's statement on the Goa government move to deport Nigerians living in the city illegally. It also addresses the recent killing of a Nigerian in India and the subsequent violence that followed.

This is Nwadibia's statement:

Dutta definitely raised some undeniable points. Read the response and share your thoughts.

Nwadibia warns that one million Indians living in Nigeria might be thrown out on the streets if 40,000 Nigerians living in India are ill-treated. Recently, a Nigerian national was murdered in Goa; which the State Government claims was result of turf war amongst drug peddlers.

Some 200 Nigerians also living in Goa blocked roads and indulged in unruly violence. The Goa Police now wants to evict all foreign nationals (not Nigerians specifically) living illegally in the State. This has provoked Nwadibia to demand an eye for an eye. This is not really the first time any foreign national got murdered in India – or in any other country. But that never provoke diplomats to become Ghengiz Khan or Halaku. Indian students occasionally get murdered in the US, the UK, Australia and New Zealand. Some of them are actually victims of racism. Several nations in the world launch drives against illegal settlers. But diplomats do not bay for blood over it, but call for calm.

Nigerians murdered in other countries: Only last month a Nigerian student, Gabriel Soriwei was mowed down by a car in northern Cyprus. The woman driver of the car was detained and released three day later. But the Nigerian High Commission in Nicosia and Nigerian Embassy in Ankara have done precious little for justice to Gabriel. In August, Nigerian Stanley Eteimo, who had got engaged to a Cypriot lady, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Hotel Cratos, Kyrenia in northern Cyprus. It was possibly a hate crime that authorities maintained was a suicide. Nigerians have been killed in Malaysia, Thailand and elsewhere. But nobody has threatened those nations.

The Russian incident: Recently Moscow Police detained 16 Nigerian students (former terrorists) who were engaged in hooliganism in Nigerian Embassy in Moscow over non-payment of financial grant to them. It was the Nigerian embassy which called up Police finding themselves in a tight spot. The Nigerian embassy accepted the fact that the event brought calumny. It even postponed the Nigeria-Russia Business Forum saying the event organised by Nigerian embassy would lack credibility.

Indians in Nigeria a settled lot: In the present case in Goa, it is true that a Nigerian has been murdered. The guilty must be brought to book, whether he is an Indian or a foreigner. But simultaneously it has also emerged that the victim dealt in drugs. He was no software engineer, no medical practitioner, no trader or earning his livelihood by any honest means! But the Nigerian High Commission in India seems to be in denial. Will Nwadibia tell us that what are the professions of the Nigerians who created a ruckus in Goa? What brings so many Nigerians to Goa in the first place? Majority of the Indians in Nigeria whom Nwadibia threatens are living in that country for long. Whatever might be their citizenship, they are living legally in Nigeria. They run businesses or work in offices. They have their families in Nigeria and even own property there. Many of them are actually born in Nigeria; and belong to every age group. But the profiles of the Nigerians who live in India are vastly different. They are mostly young, male and living either alone or with friends. Some of them came on student visa but now expired. Most of them have no credible profession to pursue.

Indians in Nigeria not into crime: Not more than 10 Indians citizens are lodged in jails of Nigeria, Benin, Chad and Cameroon combined (vide MoS, External Affairs Reply in Lok Sabha August 7, 2013- “Indians Languishing in Prisons Abroad). But around 500 Nigerians languish in various Indian jails, a fact finding team led by a prominent Nigerian lawmaker recently found out. Around 1000 Nigerians are lodged in various jail of China. There are 800 Nigerians in Togo, a small West African nation of 7 million. Drug peddling is a common charge against them in any country. Is this merely a result of discrimination against Nigerians by all these countries, and magnanimity by the Nigerian authorities towards foreigners? No the Nigerian High Commission is acutely aware of these facts. But I leave it to readers’ judgement why they are silent about it.

Nigerians found dealing in narcotics: Is it merely anecdotal that Nigerians in India deal in drugs? No. As per the records of the Narcotics Control Bureau, Ministry of Home Affairs, 223 foreign nationals were arrested last year on charges of drug peddling. Out of them 67 were Nigerians, more than any other nation except for Nepal (72). Those alleging that the bias against Nigerians stems from racial prejudice against the Blacks should explain why it does not extend to other Africans in India? It is because no other African nationals have such antecedents in India as Nigerians. India was a vocal critic of Apartheid Policy in South Africa. It conferred upon Nelson Mandela, the highest civilian award of this land Bharat Ratna in 1990. As a school boy, this writerwrote a letter to Nelson Mandela admiring his struggle and wishing him early release. In the 1950s and 1960s India had helped Nigeria in Railways sector. Indians are one of the most accommodative people over the millennia.

Nigerian drug peddling a longstanding issue: The Goa murder has brought the drug peddling issue to a head. But drug peddling by Nigerians in India is an old problem. It is on record that Late Ajit Panja, as MoS, Finance replied to a Parliamentary question put by Krishna Kumar Birla in Rajya Sabha on August 30, 1988. Panja acknowledged that reports received and seizures made indicated that Mumbai was increasingly being used as a transit point by Nigerians in their drug trafficking activities. Some of the Nigerians nationals arrested for drug trafficking were found to be students. Panja also informed the House that Government of India and the Government of Nigeria had signed a joint declaration on October 21, 1987. It was intended to ‘extend cooperation to each other in suppression of drug abuse and prevention of drug trafficking’. The number of Nigerians arrested in 1986 and 1987 for drug peddling were 22 and 46 respectively. It has risen to 50, 75 and 72 in 2004, 2005 and 2006 respectively.

The joint agreement has proven to be a dead letter. It is something both the Governments are aware of. So let us not compare Indians in Nigeria and Nigerians in Indians.

SOURCE

That is not why people should take law
into their hands.Charge and prosecute them. After all many Nigerians died as a result of substandard drugs from India . Indians are crooks. They always like to cheat and are fraudulent .

rosebowl01: These crimes are not committed by Nigerians. It is only a particular group of people, from a particular region, who speak a particular language that engage in these things. The Nigerian diplomat should not threaten Indians living in Nigeria because we would oppose it. He should only threaten the ones living in the region of the rising messed up sun. That is even if there's anybody willing to risk his life to live there in the first place.
Stop disgracing this country!

Stupid comment - this is childish . North not all that inclusive because they dont travel much .Siiting there in Nigeria to make such comment shows that you dont know your country .
