I dnt pay tithes and I've neva been jobless
Being lucky that something fell into your hand and being purposefully looked after as a son are too different things.

When you a tithe payer God takes charge of your financial affairs. He reserves the job for you. Not a scrap falling to you.
AgricultureRe: Tomato Production And Marketing. Facts Backed With Figures by Idango(m): 1:32pm On Feb 15, 2017
I have gone through all these and i can say i am blessed. Thanks Jehro.

I am based in Owerri and will like to set up a green house or nethouse of up to a Hectare.

I was wondering why farmers from the east are not talking. The prices of tomatoes are most costly in Owerri, portharcourt , Enugu etc.

How can i get up to two hectares for tomato farming arround owerri?

The problem with broilers is that purchasers will always try their luck with you and want to buy your broilers for next to nothing.
You have to be careful and do your sums well so you know what your cost price to maturity or point of sale is otherwise you will be running a charity business

So I reiterate my point, do your research and to add to that, do your maths so you know what your break even point is. There is obviously a market for broilers otherwise there would never be any chicken for sale in the market or on the table.

You must agree that it is difficult to assess the market in your area without any legwork and due diligence because there are several factors involved in each individuals business model and local environment.

There are several factors involved and these have to be considered.

For example if I can raise broilers cheaply but it costs me and arm and a leg to get them to the market it defeats the objective.
The purchasers you are taking about are the processors, those ones buy and install the chicken processing equipment and then buy broilers cheaply from farmers almost always at a loss to the farmer, these ones approach the fast foods and hotels who buy only processed chickens and not live ones. That is why most farmers only do broilers on a seasonal basis ( christmas, easter, sallah etc) when they can sell life chickens.

But it will be great if you as a farmer process the chicken yourself and sell to the fast foods and hotels, that is only when you will enjoy real profit instead of giving all the profit of an 8 or 7 weeks suffering to a chicken processor who will kill them and process them in one day, deliver it to them and make all the profit. To me the broiler business is where the main juice of poultry is if the market angle is gotten right.

Music/RadioRe: Satanic Music And Dance So Cherished By Christians In Nigeria. by Idango(m): 3:54pm On Dec 20, 2013
The type of reactions we are seeing here is actually the reflection of what is happening in our churches.
People can no longer different between what should be used in churches and what shouldn't.
Any music that doesn't glorify God should not be used in churches, it should not be remixed and make it sound gospel.
And dance steps associated with such music should not come near churches, that is strange fire on the altar.

Christianity EtcRe: Kumuyi - Why The Church Is Called Deeper Christian Life Ministry - by Idango(m): 10:31am On Nov 29, 2013
Last night after reading through Ifeness's post i became very troubled and i wept. I realised its not enough to take your children to church and teach them the whole Bible, it is not enough. I asked God to let each of them have an encounter with him, a spiritual encounter, no matter how small, the type that the devil cannot come back and convince them that there is no God.

Every believer need a personal spiritual encounter with God, if not the devil will come and tell you there is no God and he will ask you to prove God outside the Bible.

Can the devil go to paul the apostle and tell him there is no God ? never, can he ever convince shedrach , meshack and abednego there is no God, never, because they encountered him. If your children dont experience his power as sons of God, when the devil convince them that the Bible is a fairy tale, they are finished because they will beleive.

A child that have prayed personally and received healing for his body cannot be convinced that God does not exist, a child that has learnt to bind and cast out the devil personally cannot fall prey.

Let us stop teaching our children only bible story, let them experience the power in the word also.

cyrexx: O, the depth of delusions of my people. I remember when they used to scare us about hell and demons and sins against holy spirit etc etc etc. I'm glad I left religion and better equipped to leave a better legacy for my kids.

Religious minds see only heaven and hell when other productive minds are busy making the best use of their time for the benefit of themselves and humanity.
Christians see life after death while fools think everything ends here.
This life is a rehearsal for the main show which is external life. Some of you will be here at the rehearsal but will not be able to attend the main event.
Christianity EtcRe: Kumuyi - Why The Church Is Called Deeper Christian Life Ministry - by Idango(m): 11:28pm On Nov 28, 2013
@Ifeness, what a wasted life you are living. You were born into a church like deeper life and you have grown into a hardened atheist like this. You did not have a single encounter with the one has all the power in heaven and on earth, what a pity.

Ifeness listen, christianity is not about being brainwash. It is an experience you can have for yourself. He said as ''.......many as received him he give power to become the sons of God". When you become a son of God you are no longer an ordinary person, you have the power of the sons of God.

Look at it this way, i beleive everything in the bible, you dont. If im wrong and there is no God, no satan, no heaven and no hell, what is my loss, nothing!!! if you are wrong (and you are) and God, satan , heaven and hell are all real, and God will Judge everybody at the white throne judgement, what will be your loss, your life, you will be condemned to hell, "......and anyone whose name is not found written in the book of life is cast into the lake of fire".

Ifeness, go back like the prodigal son to your roots.

@fnk, your suspicion concerning Obasanjo farms may be in order. When we were trying to get our DOC , the guy managing my birds said he will not do it if i get from obasanjo farm, he actually said he will only help me to manage if i buy from CHI or Zartech .

If you look at them physically more than half are fully matred. Should i start giving them layer feed? Or i should wait for all to look matured physically.
Dont give them layers mash now. You will spoil the whole matter. Just wait. they will all pick .

Tmex: pls I needed to get market for my broilers in about 2 wks tym can u be of help?
My brother, i m also looking around for market for my broilers that will be ready by 3rd week of november. Now i realise why most farmers only breed broilers and cockerels for festival periods, but i want to be able to sell broilers every month and make it a regular income source . From what i have learnt, the options available to you to sell your broilers are:

1. Sell to chicken processors who processes and sell to fast foods. Their price is very ridiculous , i called two of them in Lagos ( i search for them on the internet) and they said they buy live chickens at N400 per Kg. so if you have a 3 kg broiler, you can only get N1200 from it. That price is most likely below you cost of raising you broiler to 3 kg. The only way you can make profit if you sell to chicken processors is to be able to keep your total cost raising a 3 kg bird below N1000.

2. Another option is to wait for xmas when demand for chicken is high and sell at about N2000, N2,500 03 N3000
3. Visit local bukas and hotel who may not buy from chicken processors and get better prices.
4. Talk to chicken sellers in the market.

The most reliable and everready buyers should have been the processors if not for the price.

Please my people if any body know other profitable way of selling my broilers, please share.

samshoz: How do we know which of d concerntrates is required? I saw pix of some on premier nig. (topfeed)Website but no detail on application. My layers(36pcs) are six weeks old n they feed like gluttons.
The label on the concentrate will indicate what feed and for what category of poultry: starter, grower, finisher mash etc. It will also indicate the mixing proportion i.e if the concentrate will form 40%,30% of the feed.
AgricultureRe: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by Idango(m): 11:24pm On Oct 15, 2013
urchpath: Pls bro how do u intend to mix the feed?
Thanks
You can buy the concentrate and mix with corn instead of buying the total bag feed all the time, that can reduce your cost.

leverage12: Hello guys, am planing of starting up layers in weeks time, but want to ask- between broilers and layers which has more profit?
My brother, a lot of farmers beleive that broilers are more profitable if you can get buyers for your birds, it is easier to sell your eggs because buyers look for you, but for the broilers , you need to go and look for them. But once you get your sales outlet, i personally beleive that it is through broilers that you can make real money from poultry.

fnk: This pix looks good. How is the pot heater working? and how much is it?
The pots cost about N700 each. You will need to buy charcoals, a bag is about N1200 around IFO area of ogun state. You fill the pot with charcoal and and light the charcaol, you empty the ash and replace with new charcoala after 4-5 hours. The lenght of time the charcoal can last before completely burning off depend on the type of wood the 'coal was derived from. So far there are working perfectly. After the second week the pot will no long be required untill another set.
