Please, has anyone here had payment declined issue with using Nigeria Paypal linked with GTB MasterCard. I tried making payment with my Nigeria PayPal and it was declined. Also, I tried using the MasterCard itself and the same happened. I'm worried because I need to make an urgent payment.

Website 101: Niche down a lot!

The number one mistake Nigerian website owners/bloggers make every time is that they don't niche down.

They want to talk about everything at the same time.

They bite off more than they can chew in the process.

They talk about entertainment, business, health, money, travel, etc, all in one blog.

And in so doing, they end up confusing Google.

How can you be an authority in all of these things?

Google gets very mad with people who do this!

I have a friend who blogs about grey hair and she recently just got approved on Mediavine. And if you know anything about Mediavine, you'd know you need about 50k traffic to get approved. That's a lot!

I made this same mistake in my early days blogging. I wanted to talk about everything. And it backfired big time.

I took a paid course titled 'Stupidd Simple SEO' and I had since niched down a lot!

Wig is even too broad in my opinion (though it's okay). You can still niche down to blondes, black wig, etc, you get the gist?

This is not a slight on your person IdeasPro, I know you're an authority in running a website already. It is commendable for anyone to even nurture a website (I know the hours of work I put into mine).

Yes, I understand and agree with you. But here is my advice because the best teacher is experience.

WigPalace//king is too restricted for growth and expansion. And when he wants to sell it in the near future, there will be a ceiling to what he can earn. What if wig is no more fashionable tomorrow and another fad comes in? The first step I think he missed is the domain name. I would prefer BeautyPalace//king or anything similar so that he can promote any product related to beauty and lifestyle over time.

But he can start with wig as a niche, get traction to his website, consistently make money for few months and then add another product to the list. If he is solely building a niche site with WordPress, he can create pages with children and grand children in hierarchical order. If he follows the blogging route, no problem. he can continue to blog about wig, make money and gradually expand from there.

ShopRite, for example, sells lots of product in order to make consistent sales. If you sell ice cream during raining season. your sales will not be the same like dry season. Google is not mad about websites doing various things. No! It's only concerned about theme-based content. So, wig, shoes, clothing, etc are theme based and that is okay.

All in all, when you're into website investing, you'll appreciate what I'm saying the more. Products and services come and go out of the market. Unless you've a theme based website, you may wake up and found out that your sales have dried up. But that is not our portion.

Take Away:

1. Get a broad domain name that you can grow over time e.g. WeightLossXXX//king instead of PaleoDietWeightLoss//king even if you're starting with the paleo diet niche.

2. Niche down to start with, get a good handle of that and earn money consistently for 3 months before you branch out.

3. Create quality, unique and superior content on your blog. This is what Google need.

4. Promote your blog. If you don't, magic or miracle will not happen.

5. Etc.

We're on the same page brother except that I always have an "exit strategy" in mind when creating blogs or building websites.

Yes this one if for Wig but of course I'll be expanding this in future. When you say authority site do you mean legal, lawyer firms? This is my first time so I still have alot to learn. The website is live on another domain specifically for development perpose and I just acquired the domain so I'll be moving to the domain in a few days.

In SEO speak, authority website simply means a blog or website with a lot of high trust ratio and expertise for the website, owner or blogger as the case may be. And it has avalanche of relevant and authority backlinks from diversified sources in its field.

Backlinks profile is barely non-existent. Less than 50 and from no-authority websites.

It's not a universal domain name but rather African. Majority of Africans don't invest so much in buying and selling of websites except it is a goose that lays the golden egg.

You should have monetized it with Google Adsense and promote it. This should have been earning you an average income of $50 to $100 per month to enable you sell it for at least $800 and above.

You can turn the fortunes of that blog around in a matter of 90 days and you won't want to sell it again. But the images you're using are they royalty free? This could be a turn off if you're using images without permission and you're not a journalist legally approved by any government.

Today is a great day for me. Daily working from home online is the best thing to happen to people who hate day job commuting hassles and the income potential is great. If you can navigate websites, research content and create a blog using WordPress blog CMS platform, there is no reason why you cannot make a living online.

But be prepared to learn and earn. What I do every day is to find needs in the marketplace, create unique content and monetize it on a blog.

This country would have been an Eldorado in the comity of nations if things are working seamlessly. We worship money and power and never merit and honesty. I know the consciousness and honesty majority of us are exhibiting in the thread shows that God is coming as the ultimate Umpire to sanitize the nation for the benefit of all.

If you travel out of this country, you'll continue to weep for our leaders who are steering the affairs of this nation with careless abandon. All in all, we need prayers for God to wrestle this country from evil hands. You and I can do it. If we cannot set up common PayPal business account to receive digital goods as legitimate merchants, it means that the system is prostrate. Most people in Nigeria celebrate evil, thieves, 419ners, fraudsters, con artists and bad leaders. It's quite unfortunate!
