Frankly speaking, when I read AwesomeDuru's reply template, I knew it will seal the deal as a freelance writer cum copywriter myself. It was a creative thinking and write up that anybody couldn't have faulted. This is why domain sales letters and follow up messages should be slightly different for every domain and/or potential buyer's response. Every potential buyer's reply should always influence our wording after quickly carrying out due diligence on him or her with the reply email ID information to evaluate how big he/his company is on Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.

adsense and affiliate links are possible. don't bother yourself with web designing. make use of self hosted wordpress for free.

Great Pal, how is it going? Feeling the same way is cool. But you must approach this business as a business NOT AS A HOBBY even if you're doing it as a hobby or part time. First, don't invest more than you can afford to lose.

Secondly, get a second income. Majority of us here are specialists in different fields. Build a website around your passion, interest or specialization. Monetize it with Google Adsense codes. There is hardly no niche market you cannot make money with Google Adsense because of the power of retargeting. So, your area of specialization can make you money.

You can still go ahead to list the domain name of your blog on domain for sale marketplaces but your name servers will remain that of your web host. If sales comes from marketplace, sell in order to cash out and re-invest. Listing in marketplaces will also boost your visibility to an extent.

I know most people are afraid of the hosting cost. You can find cheap web hosting even you cannot afford a robust one for less than $20 per year.

One sale a year should cover that and money from Google Adsense and affiliate income should keep you going. The challenge is in writing constant content and consistent promotion. No pains, no gains. Even the politicians know what they go through to loot money. It's a world of survival of the fittest.

not scam at all. they are domain brokers. even the potential buyer has paid them circa $19 to initiate the negotiation. it may be a good deal. put on your negotiation cap and goggle

That is my constant grouse with some undesirable elements from Nigeria. May be the Nigerian is thinking that the domain belongs to a fellow Nigerian. He wants to be a cog in the wheel of progress.

100%.. I once had three offers for three different names same day and they all failed to pay up. They stopped replying my follow up mails. When I got the offers, in my mind, worst case scenario at least one would sell but it was not to be as they were not my buyers...

Not every offer leads to sale in domaining. Having that at the back of ones head really helps

You're 100 percent correct but not only in domaining. It's in every business both online and brick-and-mortar. If you own a physical shop or store, you'll appreciate what I'm saying. Some leads or potential buyers can even be insulting and you'll like thinking whether to give up. I'm never looking for the 99 percent that will not buy but the 1 percent that will open his wallet.

It's in relationships too. You'll see an ugly man marrying 5 virgins and still counting. You think it's money? No! Charm? No! Many will never fall for these. It's about charisma!

Great Pal, I've read about your previous muse and I want to say you're just worried about nothing. Everyone has his or her payday. Your payday will definitely come, sooner than you expect. But you must be patient and don't quit. You should be familiar with the common saying that "winners don't quit and quitters don't win."

But before your payday, continue to study, study and study.

I have said this before but it bears repeating. For some of us here who send PM to fellow members, always check your email address which you used to sign up with Nairaland forum for a reply. At least, you have to acknowledge that you've seen the person's reply. The recipient's reply goes to your mail box not Nairaland. So, don't expect reply on Nairaland platform the same way you sent the PM. I constantly receive PM and when I reply with a simple message like "Hi, this is IdeasPro...," it goes to a dead end. It's the self updating program in it. Just navigate the system and check the settings to pause it and only update when you want to.

@the bolded. It may be that your laptop is automatically updating in the background all the time. Simply go to your OS settings and pause automatic update. In Windows 10 you can pause it for 35 days maximum. In other words, you update every 35 days or so. At least you can prepare for update every month. Your data will not be zapped.
