MMM returns … Today we remember, the lost souls to MMM 1love 13th of December 2016 will forever remain a date to remember for MMM participants in Nigeria. News broke that the popular money doubling scheme Mavrodi Mundial Moneybox (MMM) had crashed in Nigeria, freezing the accounts of all its members across the country. This news left the almost 3.3 million Nigerian beneficiaries of the scheme distraught. The participants were assured that the scheme would be up and running from the January 14, 2017 but many of them though expressing their faith in this assurance still had their doubts. MMM participants on January 6, 2017 were asked its members to perform a “Promo Tasks: A New Tool for MMM Community Development”. They were urged to perform both online and offline tasks to promote the scheme in anticipation of its return on January 14. Days later, MMM Nigeria announced the introduction of Bitcoins as a mode of payment as they set to resume their operations. mmm return Earlier today, January 13th, a day before the expected MMM returns, the scheme posted a tweet through their official twitter handle announcing that the scheme is back. mmm returns Here is my opinion, Will MMM participants take the risk to Provide Help ? To sustain the cycle, participants will have to take the risk and provide help to those who are due to Get help, but will they ? MMM operates on a model that is only sustainable with greater inflow than outflow of money. Once inflow is lower than outflow, MMM is bound to crash again. Also, since there are no products sold or service rendered to sustain the 30% ROI and numerous other rewards. Hence, there’s no denying the high probability of MMM crashing again as it has already piled up deficits from fraudulent withdrawals from guilders or participants who upload fake deposit slip. Regardless of that, a simple fact about MMM is: it is a pyramid scheme. Guilders will continue to enrich themselves without providing help hence increasing deficit. Even if MMM returns, it will crash again, in a bigger way. Be rest assured, if (or is it when?) it is going to crash, there will be winners and losers. Be wise. This 2017, I pray that reasonable ideas come to you and u invest right http://www.ideologieshub.com.ng/blog/mm-nigeria-returns/ |

In recent times, the startup community in Yaba has been attracting quite a lot of attention. Earlier in 2016, the community welcomed Adebayo Shittu, the then newly appointed Minister of Communication. Then in August, Facebook founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg also paid the community a visit. Earlier today Wednesday, Lagos state governor Ambode paid a courtesy visit to the CcHub. ambode-yabacon-3 Governor Akinwumi Ambode of Lagos State visited Yaba tech cluster and made a stop at the iDEA Hub and then talked to entrepreneurs at CcHub both on Herbert Macaulay way. In the tech hubs, he met with startup founders and tech entrepreneurs in general. At the iDEA Hub the governor hinted at a government operated tech hub. Speaking to the entrepreneurs, Akinwumi Ambode reiterated his supportive stand on innovative startups and businesses. During introductions and discourse, Femi Alonge of CcHub raised the issue of electric power being the biggest challenge startups in Lagos face. One of the first things we did was to map out innovation clusters, and create a map connecting the dots on the Lagos Innovation Hotspots website. He further implored the governor to put the entrepreneurs in his future plans. We were led to believe the governor did not drop any hint of his visit so his visit was impromptu. Governor Akinwumi Ambode is not the first government functionary to visit Yaba, last year the tech community hosted the Minister of Communications. Expantiating on the tech hub that he hinted on at the iDEA Hub, Governor Ambode; We were considering building incubators and tech hubs, but I am really satisfied with what I see here. I feel we do not need to capitalize and build government operated tech hubs, we can support the existing ones by providing infrastructure. He talked about building a value chain with the youths were entrepreneurial skills gained are passed on. And how the government has not being forthcoming on seeing tech as an instrument to grow the economy. I strongly believe technology is one of the most efficient tools to move Nigeria forward and we will work vigorously towards that goal with every support we can offer. On the issue of power that Femi Longe raised, Governor Akinwumi Ambode sympathized with the entrepreneurs seated and shocked them further; he promised to add all the clusters to the Mainland Power. Being that the Mainland Power serves electricity to public utilities, all the tech startups and business in Yaba will be classified henceforth as a public utility. On complimenting the already existing efforts, the governor also promised a grant from the ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment for the startups. To round off, the governor said his presence in Yaba is a prime indicator that the work being done by tech entrepreneurs in the state is having visible positive impact. See more photos

We ended 2016 in anticipation of wonderful things in 2017, particularly in the startup scene. All said and done, the new year is already upon us, but somehow, it seems already far spent for startups who are looking to make every moment count. A few startups left us with quite an impression in the past year, and we are trusting on a new set to carry on the momentum. Here are 6 startups we are betting on to take 2017 by storm. Tuteria The sub-optimal standard of education in Nigeria has given innovators a huge opportunity to transform the educational sector. So when Godwin Benson’s Tuteria launched in March 2015, its biggest task was probably pushing the platform to the point where it could be mentioned in a similar tone with already existing and established competitors. Things took a positive turn nearly a year later when the startup made one of 10 selections for Co-Creation Hub’s three-month Growth Academy accelerator programme. The partnership seems to have paid off, as Tuteria claims to have registered over 7,500 vetted tutors across the country on its platform. However, the biggest turning point for Godwin, it would seem, was when he made headlines for catching the attention of Mark Zuckerberg during his famous visit to the country. An interest in the business model of Tuteria by the Facebook founder was enough validation, as the startup later won the Nigeria Impact Category for the Internet.org innovation challenge. With the venture garnering $50,000 in prize money and $50,000 in support tools, there is no doubt that it is well equipped for the work ahead. Kangpe Africa is said to have the lowest doctor to patient ratio in the world (with an average of 2 doctors to every 10,000 people), leaving many with little or no access a doctor. Those with the means often endure inefficient hospital systems. Access to a comprehensive, quality health care is crucial for the achievement of healthy life and it goes without saying that everyone dreams of having a personal doctor at their beckon. However, nothing beats the prospects of having access right inside their pocket. In July 2015, Femi Kuti, a doctor and an investment banker, launched Kangpe, a service that connects patients with verified doctors via SMS, mobile app and web 24 hours a day. Interestingly, the startup has been in the news of late. First Kangpe secured $2,500 at a recent TechCircle-organized Meetup, and then went on to win Seedstars Lagos 2016. seedstars-winner Second from right, Kangpe CEO and Co-founder, Femi Kuti By the virtue of its win, Kangpe has secured a place at the Seedstars Summit taking place March 2017 in Switzerland to compete for a chance to win up to $1 million in equity investment. During his pitch presentation, Femi said the startup had already generated $10, 000 in revenue since it launched. Currently, Kangpe is live in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda and is seeking to expand across French-speaking African countries. Aside from competing for the grand prize at the World finals of Seedstars, the one-week-long summit will also afford Femi and his team the opportunity to network with other startups across the globe, as well as investors and mentors. This will be crucial for the startup in the new business calendar year. Having unveiled its premium monthly subscription service at a fee of ₦1500 towards the end of last year, Kangpe has further taken a step towards becoming one of the top providers of healthcare access across Africa — in a fast and simple way. RecyclePoints Excellence and quality assurance are known prerequisites to unlocking demand, and gaining a greater foothold in seemingly crowded markets. However, in the case of RecyclePoints, it appears a simple reminder of the “good old days” was all it needed to gain considerable traction in its niche market. Being an emerging platform that it is, RecyclePoints left many in awe of its incentive-based model of waste collection that is oddly reminiscent of the old traditional system of exchanging a specific quantity of clean recyclables (mostly bottles) for cash. The only difference, in this case, is that the model allocates “points” to the quantity of recyclable items neatly collected at the point of disposal by post-consumers who in turn use the earned “points” to redeem numerous identified household items and services. Although we cannot categorically tell the exact amount of engagement on the platform, it would be unwise to discredit the uniqueness of the model. We cannot overlook the fact that it has put them in the spotlight; emerging from nowhere to be shortlisted among three finalists for the Aso Villa Demo Day. Further proving that it is no fluke, RecyclePoints recently emerged winner of the ₦1million grand prize at the regional final of the Chivas Regal annual competition. By extension, the startup would compete against 32 other global finalists at the international stage in Los Angeles later this year. recyclepoints The issue of poor waste management has long been a part of the Nigerian culture, so the stage is set for the startup to continue to innovate waste management; helping to rid the streets of unnecessary waste materials that pose a threat to human health in the process. Accounting Hub Many of us probably already know Chioma Ifeanyi Eze and how her desire to increase the survival rate of small businesses in Africa — by providing them credible numbers for optimal decisions in their businesses — led her to found Accounting Hub. It is true that accounting at its core communicates a lot of information that owners, managers, and investors need to evaluate a company’s financial performance. However, it a messy situation when businesses cannot afford the services of an accountant, are made to pay exorbitant fees and/or get quack accounting service in exchange for a sizeable fee. So since its emergence in the startup scene, Accountinghub.ng has identified and catered for the huge gap between what Nigeria’s Small and Medium businesses need and what regular accounting firms offer. While it claims to have introduced virtual, retail and tech-accounting in Nigeria, the startup has been able to lower the services of accounting for small business. For all it’s worth, the gesture has been well received. During our chat with Chioma mid last year, she affirmed that Accounting Hub is serving over 64 small businesses and the figure pales in comparison to what we think it would be now. The last we checked, Accounting Hub has moved office twice within the space of a year to accommodate the growing team, having grown from a team of just four to nearly 20 members within a short period. There are over 40 million SMEs in Nigeria and over 90% of them are small businesses. Many are still springing up in the new year. What this means for Accounting Hub is the prospect of having more clients which will all be in dire need of quality and affordable accounting services. So we are definitely rooting for this startup to do big things in the new year. Finally, Accounting Hub is a product of the 2016 class of the Tony Elumelu foundation, and Chioma Ifeanyi Eze has gone on to become a hardcore evangelist for the program. BuyChat The last few years have brought a sudden rise in companies inherently enabled by new messaging technologies. So when Olayinka Oluwakuse pivoted his defunct Balogunmarket.ng to a conversational style, it was seen as a welcome development. BuyChat’s model is particularly interesting as it attempts to disrupt the traditional eCommerce using a simple messaging channel (SMS, WhatsApp etc) as a new interface for its core business. The critical element of this new suite of services is that customers can now engage and interact with brands using natural language. Conversational commerce integrates technologies consumers enjoy — such as chat, messaging or other natural-language interfaces — with artificial intelligence so that people can interact with brands or services through bots. It’s ability to gather personal information about customers — say their shopping habits, offer tips and reviews about products, and even purchase items all without leaving the messenger — makes it a goldmine for monetization. With the potential to rake in customers in millions, there is no telling that this could just be the next frontier for brand communication and merchandise. However, it remains to be seen how Olayinka plans to scale beyond Balogun market to conquer more frontier markets across Africa; as is his ambition. While his doggedness has paved way for BuyChat to ease into the heart of Balogun market merchants, he will require more than that moving forward. However, he may be well on the track of achieving this. BuyChat is not too far from securing all the support it could get to scale his business with the startup set to feature in the 2017 batch of YCombinator program. An official announcement from YCombinator is all that remains to confirm our speculations. Also, the new year seems to have kickstarted on a wonderful note for the startup as claims Olayinka Dana Airline already signed to sell its ticket on BuyChat, commencing January. Ultimately, with natural-language increasingly becoming the norm in terms of how people expect to interact with technology, it is good that BuyChat found this niche to play in. kudi Kudi may not be a strong household name yet, but you would do well to remember them now because this certainly won’t be the last you will hear of them. As the FinTech landscape in Nigeria, with each passing day, approaches maturation, local players are becoming more pragmatic in their approach to not only solve problems of payment but also gain a major footing in this space. What Kudi is however, doing with its Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered chatbot is something to admire. Built to use everyday conversational style to communicate with users, Kudi carries out everyday transactions (like payment for recurring bills, airtime top-up, fund transfer etc) on behalf of the user when prompted accordingly. Especially now where we live in an age of ever-diminishing attention span — thanks to many things (social media, apps, work, family etc) that compete for attention all at once — the personalised chat service that Kudi offers may just give it a surviving chance. Although still a work in progress, Kudi will be further available on WhatsApp, Skype, Messenger and all other messaging apps when it fully launches. Coming to play on those turfs, we believe Kudi will be a force to reckon with in the payment scene. Also, there are mounting speculations that Kudi is part of the 2017 winter batch of startups selected for YCombinator’s flagship program. If so, that is a doubtless plus for the startup. What is Grace ? Deola asked Ben if he was prepared for the presentation he had the following day. He replied, “I am by the grace of God.” Instead of going over his work to make sure everything was in order, he watched some movies and went to bed on the premise that the grace of God was sufficient. Ben got up in the morning, spoke in tongues for one hour, dressed up and went to the meeting disorganized. He didn’t take his time to prepare and go over his work and couldn’t deliver as expected. Of course, he lost to someone who was more organized and prepared. “I will come by the grace of God” was the reply Blessing gave to her friends when she was asked if she was going to show up for the make-up class. Eventually, she didn’t show up. Was that to say that the grace of God was not sufficient? “Okey, how are you preparing for your forth coming examination?” “I am trying o. I will pass by the grace of God.” Okey replied. He kept on playing and before he knew it he, was pressured. He ended up failing 3 courses out of 7. His highest score was a C. I can go on explaining how we have abused or misused the word GRACE. In all of these cases, they believed in God and Grace, but is it God’s fault that they did not produce the right result or was the grace not sufficient? Most of us have neglected our part because we think success will fall on us like a pack of cherry all in the name of grace. We have refused to take responsibility for our actions, we have refused to sit up, we have refused to do the needful because we are “Christian / Believers”. 90% of Christians are praying for God to give them the ability to buy what thinkers are producing. Check your prayer points for 2017 ( – house, car, mac pro, clothing, holiday in Dubai, e.t.c) The funny thing is that half of the producers are not Christians better still have the Holy Spirit. We have limited the grace of God even when he said “My grace is sufficient for you – I ( 2 Corinthians 12:9) The grace of God and praying in the Spirit is supposed to give us an edge. It’s supposed to put us few steps higher. It’s supposed to take us to places where our natural strength can’t take us; to give us insight, foresight and ideas. Are you going to stop saying by the grace of God when asked a question? No, but you are going to be precise. “Dorathy, are you going for the training tomorrow?” “Yes, I will be there 8am by the grace of God!” “John, how prepared are you for presentation?” “My slides are ready, I have also studied the materials they gave me and I will go over them again and by the grace of God, only the best will happen.” In 2017, take responsibility for your life. Happen to life. Roll your boat. Be specific. Know what you want and go for it. Do something. The creator said that he will ” … bless all the work of your hands” – (Deuteronomy 28:12) What will He bless and cause an increase when you have no works. If at any point you feel you need more grace, here is the solution, 2 Peter 1:2 – Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord. This is very clear, Grace can be increased but through knowledge of God and Jesus. You can achieve this by spending quality moments in fellowship with the Word and the Holy Spirit. The same rain falls on the good and evil, principles are universal. If the clouds are full of rain, they empty themselves on the earth – Ecclesiastes 11:3, This 2017, fill your clouds and expect the desired testimonies. Read more Grace gives you an edge. DON’T ABUSE IT! Be inspired everyday on http://www.ideologieshub.com.ng/

Remember the power of words and thoughts. Like the Holy books says in Proverbs 23:7 (KJV) – For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee. Your Personal Development Plans must be a detailed, well-Structured, articulated and written Plan that will demand your loyalty and commitment. Proverbs 22:29 says, “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.” Your Personal Development Plans Guide must include the following: 1. Building Spiritual Capacity (Moving from Just Relationship to Quality Fellowship with Your God) -with an understanding that life is spiritual, no matter your spiritual inclination, get fortified spiritually. 2. Inspirational And Motivational Books to Read in 2017 (weekly, monthly or quarterly) 3. Professional And Career Development Seminars, Conferences or Workshops to attend. (either Paid or Free) 4. Mentors and Coaches you must connect with in 2017, that will add great value to your life and work. 5. Relevant/Additional Skills to Develop or Sharpen to enhance your ability to SERVE people and EARN more. 6. Events, Places, Cities And Nations to Visit for personal relaxation, recreation and education, for all work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy. 7. Networks or Associations to join, that will serve as leverages for opportunities and connections (online or offline) 8. What Products or/and Services will you be creating in 2017 to multiply IMPACT and increase INCOME. Success comes from rendering service. 9. Negative Relationships or Friendships to cut off (that drains personal energy and waste your time) 10. Wise and Intelligent Investments to undertake in 2017 not MMM. 11. Negative Habits, Attitudes and Behaviours to confront and conquer. 12. Most at times, one of the ways of conquering negative habits is by replacing it with a Positive Habits.
