eyenCalabar: You don't understand bro. There's a way work is being done in NGOs. That one year experience u'll get with them can never be wasted. There are so many big NGOs in Nigeria which you can use that experience and apply. It's a real good start brother. Those guys would pay nothing less than 100 NGN and the work you'll do won't even be much. I've been around NGO and I know what am talking about. You'll sleep in hotels and get tired. Have you ever heard something like per diem? Go find out! Working with NGO is so cool brother. I won't talk much pls. But I'll give you a little advice here: always have an open mind about something. Every opportunity in life is an opportunity for another opportunity. Don't waste any opportunity you have in life to show display some talent in you. You may start small but just keep doing your best in that small thing and before you know somebody may show up to take you higher due to how you display your skills.

nenergy: Three months, that was the time frame within which I was sure I would get a job. So after the fifth month without a job, depression naturally crept in. My name is Nenergy and this is my story.

I graduated from the University of Uyo with a degree in marketing and was posted to serve in Gombe State under the National Youth Service scheme. Service year ended in October, 2011 and despite the reality of job scarcity I was so sure a job will be in my grasp in just three months. Why was I so certain? Well for one, I was well armed with knowledge and skills I got from attending career seminars and employability workshops like the Microsoft Employability Programme organized by LEAP Africa. I was also certain that my enthusiasm and can-do attitude will work the magic. Yes, knowledge, skills, enthusiasm and a can-do attitude did work some magic, but one essential element was missing – I did not understand the Nigerian job market.

My job search started in January 2012, but the fuel subsidy crisis made that January a NO-VACANCY period in Nigeria. February came and went and so did March, and April, yet not even an invitation for aptitude test. Something was clearly wrong. Were my applications all going to the recycle bin or shredder? Depression set in, my enthusiasm waned, my savings dried up, and I began having disagreements with my parents. I found solace in relating with other job-seekers. We would gather to share information and recruitment stories and discuss the way forward. The movie “The Company Men” was also an inspiration. The movie plot is based on the lives of working class men who lost their jobs due to redundancy. Life was tough and depression set in, but they did not give up. They got their lives back because they had faith, courage and enthusiasm.

With renewed zest, I began to study trends in the Nigerian job market and also focused on personal development. I reset my goals, improve my computing skills, re-crafted my CV, extended my searchlight, pounded the streets more and things began to look up. The aptitude tests invites began to trickle in, and then came the interviews. I got my fair share of rejections, even turned down two job offers and in September 2012 after an aptitude test, a minor car accident, a computer based test and two interviews, I got a job (my first BIG job). Not just any job, but a job that matches my skill, abilities and career objective.

Today, the story can be told of how a young Nigerian found a thrilling and fulfilling job after almost 9 months of protracted search. The long wait was not easy, but it was worth it because it birthed THE JOB SEEKERS’ CREED™. I did it, and so will you. See you at the top!

It has saddened me that people have turned this into funnies. I am 20years of age and he is 21. We have been dating for 8 months. We used to catch fun at the dam and sometimes we would catch fish that we would sell to make more money for our outings. Sometimes we would steal food items like cassava and groundnuts from nearby farms, sell them and use the money for our enjoyments. Now we dont do anything any more. Anambra Guber: Peter Obi’s Aides Destroy Campaign Billboards Bearing @SenChrisNgige

Following the severe beating our cameraman, Chinedu on Wednesday by men who introduced themselves as coming from the Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor of Anambra State on Security, we have reported the matter to the Police at the B-Division Police Station Awka.
The Police in Awka have gladly provided the security cover for us to exercise ur right to cry when beaten. They have accompanied us to the scene of this unpardonable crime from Anambra State Government and APGA at this stage of our political development and we are glad to have enlisted the services of external photographers to get he pictures we must get within our right of fair hearing ,as yet in the Court of public opinion.

As per enclosed photographs, the operatives of Anambra State government and removed the flex bearing the information, even after felling the board, as displayed by us on Tuesday and further shown by Mr Ike Oligbo the sponsor of the billboard (earlier photo also attached)
What is left is the skeleton of the board, even as we have received reports that another bill board of Senator Chris Ngige, standing roughly two kilometres from the Amaku General Hospital victim billboard at the precincts of Transport Company of Anambra State (TRACAS), has equally been destroyed.

While pursuing our case through the due process to get our camera recovered from the Government House in Awka, we appeal to well-meaning Nigerians to advise Governor Peter Obi and APGA sell the programmes and manifestos, if any, of their candidate(s) to the voting public of Anambra State and allow others to do so, rather than trying to stifle the political space in a manner that reminds one of the era of military governance.

We know that there is no democracy in APGA. Otherwise, their leader Gov Obi would not have supported 16 votes to prevail over 19 in the May elections of the Nigerian Governors ‘Forum and would not have gone ahead to manipulate his business partner into the factional ticket of the party ,at the expense of more worthwhile candidates.
We are however quick to remind all that our decision to be law-abiding ,follow the due process and refrain from any retaliation is not borne out of weakness, but because , our party APC is peopled by highly principled and experienced men and women who love Anambra State and will stop at nothing to create a peaceful environment in it,including Senator Chris Ngige, candidate to beat on November 16, 2013.
We have not forgotten that aspect of history which saw Governor Peter Obi collaborating with federal forces and their local foot soldiers in the state to abduct a sitting governor at some point in order to satisfy an ambition which in their own view was apparently delayed ,going the lawful way.

We know it for a fact that Anambra State was victories in that battle over undemocratic and unethical forces and the man whom the current government in the state is persecuting at the moment was the arrowhead in that liberation of the state.
With that ambition clearly satisfied -whether Anambra State gained or lost- Governor Obi is invited to give peace a chance and desist from tampering with the election materials of Senator Chris Ngige, which saw his unpopular hand-picked candidate removing Ngige;s posters in strategic places in Anambra State to replace with this own yesterday.
