Finally, after a year and six days the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria shut down flight operations at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport for safety concerns, the airport was reopened for businesson Sunday, August 30.

The FAAN on August 24, 2019 shut down flight operations in the airport after high profile Igbo sons and daughters criticized the deplorable state of the airport, and described it as a death trap.

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), subsequently approved N10bn special fund for the reconstruction/ rehabilitation work at the airport after the South-East Governors and Igbo leaders led a delegation to the presidency.

Speaking during the official reopening on Sunday, the president who was represented by the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, said that the completion of work at the runway and the reopening of flights operation “was a promise kept.”

Buhari said the Airport was so important to the aviation industry as well as to the people of the South-East because of its revenue base, adding that was why everything humanly possible was done to see that the Airport reopened on time.

Sirika said that by approving the sum of N10bn for the rehabilitation of the airport, Buhari had shown how dedicated he was towards the infrastructural development of the South-East and the country at large.

“With the airport reopening today, it is now open to local flights and on 5th September, International flights will resume as soon as we begin to allow them into the country,” the minister said.

#4 The conversation wasn’t one sided. If the conversation was equal, and you were contributing as much as they were, that’s another good indicator. If the conversation is more towards one person than the other, it could mean that one person is enjoying it more. However, an equal flow of conversation means you’re both invested in what you’re talking about and enjoying yourselves.

#5 You regularly made meaningful eye contact and gentle touching. If you managed to hold eye contact a few times and there was the occasional brush of an arm or foot, you’re finding each other attractive. And you’re both enjoying the date. Of course, that doesn’t mean you have to jump on one another as soon as you get out of the bar or restaurant. But subtle touches and looks go a long way!

According to the accident investigation bureau, the Bell 206-B3 helicopter that crashed on salvation bus stop at the Opebi area of Ikeja in Lagos state does not have a blackbox.

The organization has stated that investigation will still go on despite the helicopter not having a blackbox.

Two passengers died immediately and the third passenger died a few hours later at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.

The AIB in a statement on Friday urged eye witness to support their efforts in bringing the investigations to a logical conclusion.

“We want the public to know that we would be amenable to receiving any video clip, relevant evidence, or information any members of the public may have of the accident; that can assist us with this investigation,” the statement read.

Nigerians have commended business tycoon, Alhaji Aliko Dangote for funding the repair of the pitch of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

It was reported back in June that the stadium was in deplorable condition one year after it was named after the presumed winner of the 1993 presidential election, Moshood Abiola.

Mr. Sunday Dare, the minister of youth and sports development on Wednesday handed over the stadium to the Dangote Group and Aron Nigeria Limited for rehabilitation.

“Aliko Dangote is a force to reckon with always. Indeed the man is giving back to his society. Obajana highway is one of his numerous testaments of his good gestures,” Victor Afolayan tweeted, commending Dangote.

Lawal Adeshina also advised that the stadium be put in proper use by allowing the semi-finals and finals of the FA Cup be played there.

“Thanks to all those fixing our dilapidated sporting facilities. That stadium should be a national monument, where it will be the dream of every Nigerian to visit for tourism. I think the FA or Challenge Cup should be given much attention for semi-finals and finals to be played there,” he wrote.

“Way to go…. Private participation is key to the country’s development. I pray more of this happens,” @dee_enigma814 also added.

A former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has come under heavy criticism for abusing journalists during a press conference in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

U-17 World Cup winner, Chukwuma Nwoha, has said the diagnosis he received from his doctors is if he doesn’t operate on his infected leg he risks losing his ability to ever walk again.

Nwoha was on the Golden Eaglets team that won the U-17 World Cup in China in 1985.

Speaking with journalists, the former defender said the issue he is having with his leg was as a result of an old injury he sustained when he was an active player, which was not properly treated.

Nwoha, has been bedridden since September 2019, has said his surgery will cost N700,000 to revive his left knee.

“The pain has been worrisome and it keeps getting worse. Doctors have said if the leg isn’t operated on in less than two months, I may not be able to walk again,”

“But the doctors have assured me that I will be able to walk again if the surgery is done at the right time.

Former President of Nigeria Rtd. General Olusegun Obasanjo has revealed that he will live for more than one hundred years. Obasanjo revealed this during the one year anniversary of the Agura of Gbagura, Oba Sabur Bakare, Jamolu II.

Obasanjo further advocated for the unity of the Oduduwa people of Yoruba land while at the occasion. He called for oneness during an interdenominational service held to celebrate the occassion.

He said; “I will be here to celebrate your 20 years anniversary with you whether I am invited or not.

Just in, a female housemaid got caught red-handed by her employer (madam) while she was pouring insecticide into her drinking water.

The housemaid was seen in a viral video making rounds on social media kneeling down, and responding to interrogations by her employer whilst still holding bottles that contained the insecticide in her hand.

The said housemaid sneaked into her madam’s room to add the insecticide, but it didn't end well for her as she was caught in the act.

Governor John Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has responded to the emergence and dissemination of his 2023 presidential campaign posters via social media.

This newspaper had revealed that the campaign posters which have been coursing on the web were supported by the Chairman of Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Mr Femi Ayodele to show his reliability and backing for the governor.

Responding to the turn of events, Yinka Oyebode, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Fayemi, said his principal denied knowledge from securing the posters, including that the governor was nursing a presidential ambition towards 2023.
