The Niger Delta man is physically and mentally Lazy.

The region is so bad that there is no Billionaire in the entire region whose wealth has crossed 2 generations. Whereas the Igbo Man, Yoruba man and the Hausa man would build an empire and start setting up his sons and relatives to takeover and expand the empire to last long beyond him, the Niger Delta man once he becomes a billionaire or a millionaire would rather live large, buy multiple cars, marry more wives, birth more kids that he would not provide for and die almost broke leaving his estate in disarray.

The Youths grow up on this belief that they can be lazy and expect to get rich from terrorizing Non-Indigenes and extorting businesses in their locality, selling off their ancestral lands and blowing up oil installations for settlement claims money.

All developmental projects embarked on by the Companies (oil and otherwise), the Government, e.t.c are all sabotaged by the same Niger Deltans who are the primary beneficiaries. I remember how a school with a budget of almost 100 Million was awarded to a Contractor and when he arrived the site to commence work, the Chief and the Youths started harassing him and in the end, the Chief demanded 15 million Naira for him to sign a Work Completion Certificate for the Contractor. The Contractor ofcourse offered the Chief 15 Million out of the almost 100 Million, settled the youths with like 2 million Naira and pocketed the rest of the dough. That job was marked as completed on the list. No thanks to the Community people.

I have sat in on several MOU's and I am yet to come out of any one where I can say the representatives of the Community had the best interest of the people they claimed to represent at heart.

I remember how one community demanded that their people be sent on training and paid a salary of 750,000 per month for the duration of the course.. I was like WTF?

Total Nigeria Limited has spent over 1 Million Euros on OML 58 Communities i in Rivers State in the last 6 Years and yet that community does not look like they have ever seen dollars before. Same with NAOC and SPDC amongst others.

If you are a contractor in the Niger Delta, you know all I am saying first hand, if you are not, ask anybody who is to tell you stories.

Its in the Niger Delta that you will get a Contract to fabricate or construct something, after settling the chiefs and elders and youths, they will give you a list of persons who you must employ before you commence work and they will in some cases stipulate their salaries. After you agree, these workers will never turn up to work until its time for salary.

The biggest enemies of the Niger Delta is the Niger Delta.

Many believe in God and Vodoo (black magic, charms, spiritualism), but as the popular saying goes, "Action speaks louder than Voice"

I see no reason why we should put so much effort in talking about God when demonstration of God is all we need.

Here are some cases to consider.

1. Where do you rush accident victims? Church or Hospital?
Even pastors would say it is foolish to take accident victims to church instead of hospital. Why? Are they indirectly saying it is foolish to trust God?

2. Where is God in times of epidemics/pandemics?
Has God ever stopped any disease outbreak?
Polio has been eradicated from any countries through vaccines and research. How many diseases has God ended?
Within the last 15 years we have suffered, SARS, BIRD FLU, SWINE FLU, EBOLA, LASSA FEVER, ZIKA outbreaks. While science was giving tangible proven solutions, what was God doing?

3. Who are the richest people in the world, are they those who did Blood money? Are they those who worship God? Even if you say some of them believe in God, what about Millions who go to Shiloh and Holy Ghost Congress every year and shout amen to Mighty prayers of great wealth? How rich are they today?

4. Where was our Juju when the whites were colonizing us? Where was God?

5. If something works, would there be need to get something else?
If Juju and God works, why do we keep improving on Technology and Science why not Improve on Juju and Faith in God?
Does it make sense to spend Billions of dollars on Milatary research when Juju is ridiculously cheap?
Why build space crafts when Witchcraft can take you to space within seconds?


6. Why conduct experiments to solve medical and life problems when all we have to do is just go on our Knees and ask God? Or Ask Ifa?
While developed countries are "wasting" Billions on research, why are we not simply asking our oracles for direct answer? Or asking God. Don't you thing we would have made Trillions of dollars from secrets Ifa or God reveals to us?



You can preach God all you want, you can praise Juju all you want. What I know is they don't matter where it matters.

This is perhaps the best layman's explanation for juju.

To add to that, it is my opinion that juju and other occult practices are primitive , rudimentary Analogs of Quantum Physics.

I have written before that the human brain has been shown to have quantum physical properties, and therefore the mind, being a conduit between several realities, has the ability to recieves and transmits cosmic impulses outside of its physical locality.

Quantum physics is where the so-called spiritual phenomena and physics converge.

So, at the end of the day, just like Loj said earlier, juju and other speculative phenomena are still aspects of natural scientific phenomena , a higher physics that we are yet to empirical study and understand.

It shows that the universe is much more complex and that we only know so very little.

It does nothing to advance the case for a creator God, rather it makes a better case that our very complex universe evolves and runs independently on its own laws.

The problem with juju in the African context is that it has NON or very little catalogued knowledge attached to it.
It is 99.9% ignorant primitive superstition.

This makes an undue attachment to it impediments to scientific curiosity, rational thinking and rational actions.

Just because you can't explain it, doesn't mean it is supernatural.

Imagine these scenario, both of us where to stumble upon a time traveling machine and jump back in time to the ancient Greeks carrying our smart phones(now ignore the mobile service infrastructure), if we were to make calls to one another and these ancients saw us, they would regard us has gods because we can communicate over tremendous distances at an instant, the most intelligent of them might reject us has gods but would still be amazed at the powers we have, they might be tempted to think its supernatural...Nope, its not, its purely physics and perfectly natural, but because they dnt understand some concepts, it would seem supernatural to them. Now lets jump into the future, we would be shocked what we would find, sentient computer, teleportation, faster than light travel, uploading your consciousness to a flash drive, things of that sort, things we can't imagine, would you call it supernatural?, I doubt it, so why call the little one here that you don't understand, supernatural?

Before I proceed, what Is Juju?
Juju is a common Nigerian term for Black magic. It's also referred to by some Nigerians as Jazz. It's basically the evoking of supernatural powers/forces to perform a task or objective. This objective may include the bad ones such as: causing harm to someone, either by inflicting them with a certain critical unexplainable illness, or causing their death. It may also include the good or supposedly good ones such as: healing someone, making someone rich or protecting oneself from the effect of weapons such as guns and blades.

Now, I was born a christian and I was indoctrinated in the religion of christianity and I have since upheld it's doctrines until recently when I began to question these doctrines and beliefs and the general concept of religion(the belief in a God) as a whole. My questioning and search for knowledge led me to Nairaland; Religion section especially, and I must say, I have gone through a massive mental shift in my perception of Christianity and Religion, thanks to the objective arguments and comments of users like Cloudgoddess and Johnydon22 and other intelligently and rational minded Nairalanders.

I have decided to bid goodbye to religion and embrace atheism, but one thing is holding me back. I have discredited every other belief I had been indoctrinated in; The believe in the so called goodness of God, the believe that Christianity is the one true religion and every other religion is a lie, the believe in the tooth-fairy like biblical creation story, other fallible biblical explanations for the existence and essence of humanity and the various baseless beliefs enveloped under the umbrella of Christianity.
But like I said, one thing is holding me back and making me doubt the position of atheists and their believe that God and the supernatural doesn't exist- And that thing is the evidencial existence of Juju.

As I continue, I would like to share these few stories.

As I was perusing through NL one day, I came across a thread where a doctor on NL shared the tale of a girl was brought to the hospital where he worked and this girl was said to have been complaining of extreme stomach ache. When a scan was done, the doctors noticed something that they hadn't seen before- There were live insects seen crawling around the walls of her stomach and internal organs. According to the doctor, there was nothing anyone could do about her condition and after few hours, she died. Now, under medical cross examination, there was no explanation for how these insects found their way and were able to survive inside her. This girl was said to have been inflicted by the person she had sex with trough Juju, supposedly for money rituals.
If a supernatural force from where whosoever did this evil to the girl drew his power from didn't exist, then how was this possible?

Growing up, I lived close to a popular university here in Nigeria, and one day I witnessed a cultist attack on a cult member of another cult group. Right in my presence this guy was shot multiple times with a pistol and the bullet didn't penetrate his body, it was not until his pursuers caught up to him and after realizing their guns were useless, they used a machete and cut him with it till he died.
Now, how was this guy able to withstand the effect of bullets?

When I was in secondary school, I had a female friend who traveled to her village for a ceremony, and one morning as she woke up to urinate, she stepped on the door mat in front of her room and she became paralyzed instantly. Not only that, her legs began to swell up. She was taken to different hospitals but nothing could be done to curb her strange illness. It was not until she contacted a spiritualist that the cause of her illness was revealed. Now this isn't a here say story. She told me herself. She even showed me pictures of her legs.
If Juju doesn't exist, how was this possible?

I used these stories because they are ones I saw with my eyes and life experiences from people I can validate them from. Aside from these ones, I have heard other stories of people who were struck supernaturally, with ailments that couldn't be explained medically. Stories of people who were sick almost to the point of death, but all body processes were functioning properly, and in medical terms, they were healthy.

I have heard of people who sacrificed their fellow humans and family members to make money, and they actually made the money. Everyday we hear of stories of people how were kidnapped, some killed, with some of their body parts supposedly stolen for ritualistic purposes. If these rituals didn't actually work, people wouldn't invest into it right? So it means it works and people benefit from it and others are able to see evidence and decided to sell their conscience and delve into it.

Atheists in the house, what's the logical and rational explanation for this? Where do these people draw their powers from? How are all these occurrences possible? Does this mean supernatural powers exist? If it does, then there must be a hierarchy, and a power has to be at the top of the power chain..

I have heard stories of people who claimed they were once evil and they wielded special powers but these powers were overcome by the power of the christian God. If God and the supernatural doesn't exist, how is all this possible?

Christianity is more of a relationship (with Christ) than a religion. I have had personal encounters some of which I cannot share because of people's unbelief. Christians all over the world face persecution and even in the face of death, most Christians refuse to denounce Jesus because of our eternal security.

There's hardly any evangelism in Islamic countries yet thousands of Muslims in those countries claim to have seen Jesus do convert even if they know it would cost them their lives. Do you think they are all lying?
