jashar: @ madam OP, foodstuffs is a very good business because no matter how bad the economy is, people still eat.
You complained about it being dirty in your area. You already have an advantage. If you decide to start up the business, make your own shop neat and get quality products.
People would patronise you because they'll know your shop is neat. Besides, with the foodstuff business, you get a quick turnover. But be ready to work smart. @Munarules: FYI. |

cococandy: I didn't even see this your post before I typed mine. Anti-spam bot caught me.
The OP sounds like she no dey go market. Things are expensive from what i remember and they are probably even worse now. With all that's going on economically. On a normal naija day 20k may not even buy you one sac full of household grocery in the open dirt cheap markets like ariaria
Maybe she lives in the north. I heard those folks are in another kind of paradise that side. Aunty speeerm nyash swallowed my post too. OP, is obviously interested in flashy, posh business like boutique. See agro farmers living large and doing well for themselves. I was at a Young guys farm at Obinze two weeks ago and wished I was wiser a few years ago. The guy is making cool cash daily, eats good fresh foods and enjoying peaceful life in the quiet country side. |

munarule: madam you dnt need to insult me ok. Though I thought of going into foodstuffs and frozen food before(I already hv 2 deep freezer at home) but someone told me it's a dirty business that I shouldn't think about it. So I abandoned the idea Did your friend explain what s/he mean by dirty business? I run a foodstuff business my dear and when u said " those things", you not only insulted me and others in that line but sounded super ignorant. Do you eat daily? Do you buy clothes, weave on, make-up daily? How many average Nigerian families buy new clothes, shoes etc each month? I don't agree that foodstuff business is a dirty one. My shop for foodstuff is in a complex where rent is 400K per annum and the place is super neat. Same for lots of others. Income is guaranteed daily, and so is sales. Well, if you dont like it, good for you but don't call it a dirty business or look down on people that do it. |
Properties › Re: Still searc: #6M budget, i need a land between lekki and Ajah. Post pics pls. by ifyalways(f): 8:35am On Jan 20, 2016 |
My point exactly! Ikota shopping complex have been existing for over 10 years. Rent starts from 400K per annum and people are renting it, maintenance is OK and owners are smiling to the bank each year. Now compare that with those cheaper complexes at Ajah that have become mini sahara/ breeding points for rodents cos of lack of patronage because the owners believed they could provide a cheap alternative. Personally, if I must spend money to build, location matters. Why 70K per annum when I can get 300K or more for a RSC? brabus: Cheap properties do not necessarily translate to good investment. I'll rather build in a place where I'll be getting my steady 500k per annum in a shop than where I'll be getting 30k per annum on 20 shops. The 30k shops will come with 20 problems from each tenant. And the maintenance is overbearing in the long run. |

blank: Please leave that Addo Badore area. That area is under govt acquisition. Any cheap land you buy there, you would have to buy it from govt again. Some areas are even committed lands that people are trying to codedly get rid off. really ? I know Greenville estate has official gazette from LASG Chekitaut: Madam Bed space per annum ooo 2 - 3 bed in a room My question remains, would she( landlord) rent out bed space or room? brabus:
u no go kill us for Nairaland. Lol. 80K per annum? Abeg I don't have that patience. And trust me such tenants sabi owe and spoil house. Collect 80K, use 30K repair room, spend 10K on charge and bail lawyer wey go help u collect the rent by Fire by force. Not for me, biko. |

munarule: you mean I should tell my husband that I want to sell those things listed above with almost 200k. Then I need less than 50k to do it and I can't even sell those things. Thanks anyway No, you should tell your gateman. Ofcourse you can't sell foodstuff, too petty for your posh self. Why are you sounding like I sent you message? My response was based on what I myself would do if I had just 100K capital and if you didn't like it,you should have just ignored it as opposed to sounding lofty. FYI : a bag of beans costs btw 27 to 33K. A bag of rice 12 to 17K, bag of ijebu garri starts from 8K. I won't bother you with the price of 25liters of oil so you see, that 100K as capital for foodstuff na management kpa kpa! |

Chekitaut: From a different angle, MUST IT BE LAGOS? Consider 2plot of Land close to a good higher institution, Like FUNAB, OOU, MAPOLY, TASUED, to mention few where land is not up to a million. Build barracks , Barrack no dey empty is a year thing.
Building is cheap ass in cheap in Abeokuta, Ijebu Ode. Walahi 30tons sand is 55,000 30tons Granite is 80,000 Cement 1,300 Bhole may not be friendly 250k-300k Iron rod too cheap only your fit-ens will be cost you more because of transportation from Lagos How much is the rent there? Nobody wants to build and after 5 years, yet to recoup basic workmanship and materials money . |
