Culture › Re: Why Is Male Circumcision More Acceptable Than Female Circumcision? by ifyalways(f): 2:13pm On Nov 10, 2012
@topic, aside the generally accepted belief that its an act of obedience to God(Christians and Muslims alike) , i think its a plus for sanity and hygiene !

Who wants to be pulling skin in and out before bathing the kids or "playing" with oga?

My grand dad once told me that uncircumcised men are more liable to mas.turbAte. I asked why and he replied "with the much time they'll spend pulling skin in and out for washing, guess what happens to a man with soap in one hand and kini in the other hand"

Gboliwe: Women are not circumcised. They are mutilated. Mutilation/mutilate has a negative connotation.
I hope you understand
hmmmn.
Na grammar, IMO. Both processes simply entails "cutting off skin" .

Hehe. This guide and my boys would sooo think I've lost it cos I'm laughing so hard.

@topic, I love African arts. So very much. I'm yet to check/click on your links but if you are in lagos, you might need to visit and network with positive and very open minded folks @ the terra culture VI and Nike art centre.

Don't let confused souls get you with their ignorant rants, there's definitely nothing "religiously or spiritually wrong" with making, selling or buying African artifacts.

goldylock: My point is everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion trying to force a particular ideology on people brings more disunity IMO. If you don't agree with d person move on and leave d person one does not have to decend so low as fighting with d other person. That is how you know people who are worthy of the position. That said I still insist everyone should have d oppurtunity to vote and be voted for as long as their Igboness has been verified.

No 11 . Always act to correct. . .

We must accept that we cannot make some people change their opinion. Arguing or debating with such people would only amount to waste of bandwidth.our leaders should be people of few words and know when to ignore. What's the point dignifying a thread created by someone like Bluetooth all in the name of trying "to clear the air or present facts" ?

Our leaders should have the liberty of knowing when to defend and when to ignore. And when they go on silent mode, our own blood hot brethren must not see that as an act of weakness.

What a dog saw and started barking, a sheep saw it long ago, kept mum but planning. . . Igbo proverb.

Nope i have never been to Youpugon hbu?
What's hbu?

I enjoy coupe decale, soukouss, makossa, zouglou and reggae. My all time favorite musicians are :
Alpha Blondy
T. Jah Fakoly
Magic system
DJ arsenal
Douk Saga
Kofi Olumide
A. Locomba(sp)
Etc

Youpugon is the "home" of music and musicians in Abidjan. Most of the stars either grew up there or nurtured their music career there.
Friday nights are always a blast. Good music.

Go girl cool cool cool
ogugua88: Good evening/morning fellow Nairalanders,

I hope all of you had a great Thursday. I do apologize for the late reply. I am just now getting home and settled.

I managed to get through all 20+ pages of this thread, as well as the few pages on the other thread. I am amazed as to how my posts and character, which, in my opinion, have never faltered, managed to cause such a reaction. The optimist in me wishes that people would partake in constructive criticism and friendly argument, rather than spending nearly 24 hours defaming, slandering, and falsifying a fellow Igbo.

It is no secret that I did not formally accept nor reject my nomination of Eze Nwanyi. Like ifyalways, I too asked what exactly the roles of such a position were. It was to my understanding that at the moment and up until now, the role of Eze Nwanyi had and has not been defined. PointB, 9ja_I_Hail, and others monitored the elections like hawks. The elections were deemed fair, and Odumchi and I emerged as victors.

Not knowing and still not knowing what my duties are, I went ahead and accepted the position. I know that my beliefs and aspirations differ from some Igbos. It is for that sole reason that I agreed to be Eze Nwanyi. I would be lying if I told you that I am here for the title. I am blessed to have the kind of parents that I have as they have never liked titles. As a result, titles do not drive me crazy either. What matters is what I do with it and make of it. I cannot put “Eze Nwanyi of Nairaland Igbos” on my curriculum vitae or post-graduate applications and I certainly won’t get a raise at work. I am here because I want to learn. I am here because I believe I have something to offer. That is priceless.

As aforementioned in my acceptance speech, Eze Ndi Igbo will benefit from having a diversity of minds. I am different than Odumchi. I am different than OnlyTruth. I am different than PointB. I am different than all of you and vice versa. I know that I will not always agree with every Igbo and vice versa. That is fine and normal. What matters is how we work out those differences for our benefits. With differences come the best of ideas and the most effective of methods. Always remember that there are multiple ways to skin a cat, but there is always a best way.

With that said, there is a difference between disagreements or conflicting thoughts, and baseless hatred. I understand that, at times, I can be blunt. I took after my father in that I am not one to sugarcoat anything. I apologize if the way I convey my thoughts offends anyone, but my philosophies remain the same. You do not have to accept my way of thinking, truly, and I don’t wish for anyone to accept my train of thought until they have considered it and understand from where I am coming. However, when insults start flying, when defamation of one’s character is rampant, when bullying is the response, and when jungle justice is in effect (for a crime unbeknownst to me), not only have you crossed the line, but you have passed that line by miles.

If you are looking for an Eze Nwanyi who will be a pushover, then I am not your woman. If you are looking for an Eze Nwanyi who rewards only the good and hides the ills of her own brothers and sisters, then I am not your woman. If you are looking for an Eze Nwanyi who bashes other tribes in order to prove she is pro-Igbo, then I am not your woman. If you are seeking an Igbo woman of intellect, sympathy, understanding, determination, and the best wishes for her region and peoples, then look no further.

Something we all mention at one point or another is that charity begins at home. Part of charity starting at home is being able to differentiate right from wrong amongst Ndi Igbo. Part of charity starting at home is identifying the incorrect and correcting it in Ndi Igbo. I have been and always will be committed to Ndi Igbo. Despite my being critical, I only have our best interests at heart.

I think that is all I have to say on this matter. It is late and I have work tomorrow morning.

Ndi Igbo, I believe PointB has opened a thread concerning electoral reform and other matters. Your constructive input would be greatly appreciated there as we try to move forward and embark on our journey to brighter days.

solomon111: she should know that it is not wise to joke with what your subjects hold dear.
Her views were sound and reasonable but the medium was just not cool.
NL was not the appropriate venue to air such divergent views especially on a serious issue as biafra, given the fact that tribalism is of chronic proportions here.
The enemies of Ndi-igbo have gathered like vultures, and are using her statement as a source of division of ndi-igbo in NL.
twas an igbo that started this thread not "imagined" enemies.

I tell ya, don't be swayed with the noise and usernames, its just alter egos from 3 or 4 old foools. Best believe!

And no, "most" igbos on nld are not "hung on Biafra", I most definitely am not. What you are seeing is same old 4 cowards always employing same tactics to shout us down whenever Biafra issue is raised, plus the numerous "flock of sheep" who either know the truth but aint bold to say so and those who are just confused and following the crowd.

Don't be intimidated by the quantity of the flock of sheep for one or two determined lion would finish them off in seconds.

solomon111: Then how the fucck did she get that position?
Who the fucck voted for her, when they were more capable people?
Nld Igbos voted for her. . .that's how she became the eze nwanyi elect.

Truth is that, during the elections,we (most of the folks that participated during the nomination) said we don't want/understand the roles and position of an eze nwanyi. But oh,they were so confident their preferred candidate was gonna win so they can shove her down our throat hence they ignored that motion for scrapping the office of the eze nwanyi.

Igbos voted and to their greatest dismay and shame,Ogugua won. They've decided to use all tactics ranging from hiding like cowards they are, have always been and would die as,to witch haunt, create meaningless threads via their foot soldiers to pull the girl down.

They are in for a loooooog thing, well, unless Ogugua voluntarily resigns ,they can all hug wet transformers or jump off a cliff.Ogugua was voted in as eze nwanyi in a free and fair election and she is and remains the eze nwanyi. cool

I just hope and pray that the fire you lighted which is burning so fast and the pressure is already on you allowed you to read my message and digest it.Anyway i have learned that in NL people don't waste their time reading any content that does not suit their argument been it lame or senseless argument, they would just respond by reading the headline. My message is that you should stop making the job harder for us, the more you and your hired crowd continue fighting our people the more you are disuniting us this is the point of my message.Igbo adage said a good friend is the one who warned you before something happened but the bad one is the one who said oh i would have warned you before now. I could remember that i warned you that the part you are about to follow will not be good for u and Ndigbo in general now the evidence is here.I felt so ashamed reading all sorts of name calling you have received here because i never expected that i can watch anyone insult you or any of our nwa ada in this manner this is one of my anger/frustration with you, nevertheless i still hold you in high esteem hoping that you are going to redeem yourself and take a (U) turn because there is no road on the part you are walking right now.

Your voice alone cannot save or remove ogugua after much much it boild down to the tribunal and eze council to settle the issue, luckily ogugua still enjoying the support of tribunal and eze council, but when you succeeded in fueling the issue beyond the control of the tribunal and council members we would have no choice than to listen to the peoples voice, this is why i told you that majority will always carry the vote.So you should less your behaviors that seem you are the spokesperson of the eze and eze nwanyi, because you will lead them into trouble with the way you and your hired gangs are ranting all over here.My father used to say that, when one person cook for public, public will finish it, but if public cook for one person the person cannot finish it, this is a proverb it take a wise igbo son/daughter to understand what i am saying.

Mind you this is the last correction i will ever give you on this thread.

Thank you, still your bro.[/quote]
