Marriage needs not just love bla bla to survive but lots of wisdom and patience. The lady shld have allowed her MIL to go with her to the mkt and bore the woman so much that she wud run back home herself. She went too far telling the MIL shes old school, wud she have told her mother same if she made such a request?.Sometimes we really dont understand the bond btw mothers and their children,Boys esp till u have one,so i guess she really hurt the MIL with that statement.
Well,if she wants to keep her home, she shld find a way to make peace to the MIL even if it means apologising,Lets face the facts,it wud really be difficult for a man to take sides with the wife over the mother, even if he does today . . . .he wud still one day go back to his mum esp African men.If u want a happy home, plsssss try as much as possible to see ur MIL as ur mother and be at good terms with her.Sometimes, one stoops to conquer.

Ujujoan:
Not just comfortable guys. . . rich!! My criteria includes: Good car, landed property, good and well furnished apartment, solid investments and a very well paying job.
I meet nice guys, good guys that really like me; but I can’t accept them cos they don’t have what all of the above. They could have some, but for me, the ones I listed are basic and non-negotiable

Basically, I believe a guy that doesn’t have all these things at age 28-30 might never be rich again; and I don’t want to take the chances.

Am I being materialistic?
Hmmn to seek for comfort is good but to overlook other things in the bid to get comfort is a recipe for disaster.
Uju those good boys that approach you and have some of ur criteria, what stops you from helping them(not finacially) to grow to ur ideal man?You can suggest biz or investment plans,You can help a man grow  . . .afterall men too help women grow. The most important thing is the potentials in the man,he does not have it today does not mean he wont have it morrrow.Dont wait to have it all Uju,you might end up losing it all.
Those guys that have it all HAD someone who encouraged them, they had someone by their sides when they had nothing.
Family › Re: Wife To Be Think Ability by ifyalways(f): 11:48am On Aug 18, 2009
@Poster,You are yet not married,If you think her IQ is not enough for someone you want to call a wife, simply let her go and find ur levels.
oilfielden:
@ToyosI20,The point here is every man expects to see certain level of values or probably smartness in simple things ,like taking care of your home without reminding her to do so, or even to call your parents to ask how they are doing when you are overseas,or even come up with simple initiative as your WTB to help ur life.May be her judgement ability needs to be improved, but whats the suggestion or skill to do dat.

@Gbogboaye, /I love my gf and try my best to support her.
Some men don't give their women the chance to prove themselves, are u one of such men?Men that want to do everything themselves, they don't let in their wives/gfs into their life, biz, plans or project but yet expect such wives to turn to a witch to find out what they are doing.
Give her some projects and see how she would handle it while you secretly monitor.Let her into your life and ur projects, show her you believe in her, praise and encourage her and she wud be forced to buckle up.

Culture › Re: The Concept Of Hair Shaving And Wearing Of Black Clothings In Mourning. by ifyalways(f): 2:05pm On Aug 15, 2009
redsun:
Is the concept of wearing black clothings for an extended period of time and (abolo)hair shaving among the (igbos) in mourning for close relatives a christian theme or african?
It might be cultural or traditional,i don't know abt African.Even christains engage in wearing black or white clothings BUT no more shaving.
redsun:
What is the significance of it?It seems to come out more like a taboo if one,a mourner does not do it.
I think its to let everyone know you just lost someone you cherish and a sign of respect to the dead.
Yes,its still seen as been cruel or/and a taboo If one does not do it.
Been that our cultures are changing daily, widows esp Christians now,can now mourn with either a low cut hair, white or black earrings and a white/black gown for just 3 mths as against 1 yr or more praticed b4.Children who loose their parents are not forced to wear white/black clothing or shave,an earring would do just fine.
