thoth: For the past few months a lot of enlightening posts has been made on Nairaland, mostly on politics, Afrocentric Educational reforms and the whole interventionist Humanitarian scam. Such posts, the arguments it raised, and the detailed answers given by enlightened posters has been serving as thought guidelines for most whom were before unenlightened in such matters.

If the attack(if there was actually one and not just a collaborative sham) has achieved anything at all, it can only be said that it eliminated any benefit that Nairaland can offer to its users whom are mostly Nigerians and Africans in the sense of enlightenment and relegated it to an empty, uninformative website where fiddle minds that are alienated from there own reality play light tricks on each other for amusement.

I was not surprised that older posts were not affected, I am only surprised that most of us can still log in with our previous accounts.
If you ask me if Nairaland was hacked, on a good day I can say “maybe”, some other days I might oppose such notion.

How about Burkina Faso - why was Thomas Sankara assassinated by French intelligence operatives? Do you think it might have had something to do with his plans to make Burkina Faso an economically independent country and loosen France's control over its economy?

Congo had problems , but who created the problems? Wasn't it King Leopold of Belgium that annexed this country in 1885 and transformed it into his personal property?

Wasn't it this same Leoopold who enslaved millions of Congolese and forced them to work on rubber plantations? Wasn't this rubber exported to Belgium and the proceeds of its sale used to develop Belgium whilst Congo was left undeveloped?

Don't get me started on the genocide that he perpetrated on that country which resulted in the deaths of over 10 million Congolese people. In a nut shell Belgium, the US and the rest of Europe owe Congo a huge debt and the least they could have done was help rebuild the country but instead they chose to destroy it with the help of one of their puppets. Mobutu was recruited and assisted by Europe and America what is the point of talking about the way he looted, the issue is not how he looted but WHY he was even allowed into that position in the first place.

The CIA drew up lists of people who were suspected of being communist sympathisers and these lists were handed to Suharto who instructed his thugs to systematically torture and kill these people - this is well documented in a documentary/film called "The Act of Killing" google it and see the horrors that were perpetrated on innocent people in that country. Anyone who wanted a fair chance in life by way of a more equitable system under a socialist/communist govt was butchered by Suharto's killers - is that what you wish for Nigeria? By the way this was done so that the US and Europe could implement neo liberal economic policies without having to worry about opposition groups within the country.

Yes, Suharto developed the country but only because he was told that in doing so he would be given a big share of money that would be generated from foreign investment, Suharto's regime was one of the most corrupt and brutal dictatorships in the world but the west turned a blind eye because of the huge returns they were making on their investments.

Have you asked about the price the indigenous people had to pay - the only beneficiaries were Suharto and his cronies and thugs while ordinary people (that is the ones who survived the death squads) ended up working in sweat shops making products for western multinationals - is that your idea of progress?

If the US truly wished for a more developed Congo why did they assassinate Lumumba who for all intents and purposes was more than willing to go down the route of development of the country?

Black countries do not prefer to flog their resources to the highest bidder - sankara of Burkina faso wanted to control the resources of his country himself and this earned him a bullet in the head, Lumumba the same thing, Gbagbo wanted to limit france's involvement in ivory coast's economic devt , this ended up with ivory coast being invaded by france and his subsequent arrest and deportation and imprisonment.

Qadaffi though not a black African incurred the wrath of Europe and America when he refused to allow their oil companies set his crude oil prices and take over the running of Libya's banking system. Prior to the invasion and devastation of Libya by NATO, Libyans enjoyed the highest standard of living on the African continent.


The pattern is the same throughout Africa - European and American exploitation of black Africans.

Andre Uweh: In Achebe's TFA (1958), the elders of Umuofia asked the white missionaries what will happen to them when Umuofia ancestors get angry at them for abandoning their religion. The missionaries could not sell the idea of abandoning Igbo religion to Umuofians. Their explanation that the religion of Umuofia is made up of dead woods and has no powers was not bought by Umuofia people. As a consequence, Igbo religion is still practised side by side with Christianity in Igboland till date.

dasparrow: I agree 100% with all you have said but will they listen? I feel like giving up on black African people because many seem to be so mentally enslaved that there is seemingly no hope for them. Myself, Cap28 and a few other Nairalanders try to educate people on this forum on the dangers of not getting our acts together and depending too much on the white man who has never liked the black African from the very first time both groups met. I am currently in Nigeria trying to complete service year. I can tell you that it has been a huge relief not having to deal with racism ever since I came back or having to deal with americans harassing me because of my African name or accent. After having to experience that for the past over 16 years between europe and USA, it feels good not having to experience that again for now. Now I am torn whether to go back to racist USA after service year or stay back. Truth is, I really don't feel like going back there because now that I have tasted what it feels like again living amongst fellow black people like myself, I don't want to expose myself to racism again. However, the electricity issue in Nigeria is driving me nuts especially because Nigerian weather is so hot and not having constant electricity causes discomfort and unnecessary hardship. For one, Igbo was ALMOST wiped out between 1967-70, by FELLOW BLACK AFRICANS. Though aided by non-Africans, it would not have happened if there were no Africans who HAPPILY played the script handed to them, and some are still ready (even today ) to do a repeat should they be given the opportunity. It is my humble opinion that I have seen more HATE from FELLOW NIGERIANS than I have seen from a non African towards Igbo for example.

I am 100 percent Igbo but I see where you are cming from. Africans are so naive that we cannot unite. THis is why we can be easily exterminated. Just like the Native Americans were. You can still make your points with ANY other username. Igbo people have suffered too much (historically: from Haitian uprising to Anglo-Aro war, to Ekumeku, to "Zikist Pan Africanism", to Biafra) for the foolishness of other Africans. The culmination of that suffering was during the Nigerian civil war when ALL major powers of this world (East and West) ganged up against Biafra. The Igbo nation was almost wiped out.
We Igbo should have learned ALL the lessons then, but it seems some of us have not learned it. Smart Igbo people have since learned not to run faster than other Africans. If it is God's will that Africans should be wiped off the surface of the earth, it will not be stopped by one hapless African ethnic group thoroughly caged by the same forces that want African extermination. The best result from your efforts will be FASTER extermination of Africans, starting with innocent Igbo who are minding their business.
