I just updated it bro. Obviously, there is no homogenous ijaw state in Nigeria.

The four main languages spoken are Izon, Nembe, Ogbia and Epie-Atissa.
Yes!
Those are the main four.

Ekpeye and Isoko/Urhobo are the Minorities there.

Then there is Abureni tribe too.

Well atleast JANK23H is an Ijaw man from Bayelsa.
I checked his history already.

I guess we can now expect Alabo to rest that Moniker and log into another moniker to continue his mischief where he stopped.

The Afonja in him will never allow him leave this "Omo Ibo" thread.

Or it becomes conjectures when it doesn't suit you.
I have read it nah.

He noted Igbo was the predominant language in Bonny.

I have alluded to this on several occasions.

When the lazy British came, rather than do a thorough investigation coupled with bias, the likes of Crow described Bonny as an Igbo town.

Of course,if he approached a slave and asked his origin, he would have been told him Igbo.

Therein lies my grouse.Igbos initially dismissed the presence of Ijo in Bonny, until earlier accounts were produced.
This document is referencing a 1969 material.
Why should we take it serious?
They were adding conjectures to Koller account and passing it off dubiously as facts.

interestingly Adum deity was the first deity in Bonny kingdom and Alagbiriye also served as it's priests.
if the founders of Bonny didn't migrate from kolokuma (same with calabari) why do they share the same language?
why did the bonnys worship Adum?

anyways, I'm not making a point because it'll fall on deaf ears.
soon I will seize to respond to you clowns.
I will create time and write a well detailed thread, it's just time.
it is in ijaw tradition to enculturate a slave bought, Jaja was also enculturated to Jubo jubogha,
Asimini made some Igbo slaves free men after helping him in battle, now if you claim igbos owned Bonny, why were the igbos enculturated?
why was okwarazurumba renamed Jubo jubogha?

see major clowns, your lies are like leaking nylon, water keeps pouring out.
the igbos are known to move about for business and establish, reason there is atleast one igbo man in every country in the world.

just because you igbos are a nuisance everywhere who like to make noise in everything you do, you brought your noise to spread lies just because the ijo man is not a noise maker.

Wait! You are an Afonja? grin
So you will go to Bonny and tell the Igbo speaking natives there that they are descendants of Igbo SLAVES and not descendants of Bonny Aboriginals Igbo kings like Okpara Ndoli, Kamalu, Pepple, etc?

And why should an Afonja be interested in Bonny and Opobo, don't you have Ilorin to win back from your Gambari masters? Are you this jobless?
Politics › Re: The True Identity Of Bonny/Opobo(UBANI) People Facts Versus Fiction by Igboid: 9:54pm On Dec 04, 2021
Putindbutt:
During the slave trade in the 19th century, there was a heavy presence of Igbo slaves from the Igbo hinterland.
Further injection of Igbo people, culture and language came after the slave trade was abolished and all the captured slaves brought recently from Igbo land to Opobo and Bonny to be sold couldn't be sold off again, then the Igbo slaves SETTLED then there AMONG the Ijaw natives. The proportion of the Igbo people to the Ijaw was highly significant in both areas that Igbo language became the common spoken language. In addition, the Igbo language was spoken as a second language by all the minorities living along the Niger Delta and was used as a common means of communication with the Igbo people from the hinterlands.
After the Igbo slaves settled there, it was noted that the natives refused to teach their language to the Igbo people and outsiders but rather they reserved it as a secret language instead. This factor led to the heavy decline in the usage of Ibani in Bonny, the total death of the Language in the Opobo area and the pervasive usage of Igbo language in both areas. When the christian missionaries landed in Bonny, note that the natives did not present Ibani to the missionaries but they presented Igbo as their language instead.
This history is clearly captured in the work of Roger Blench of which a snapshot image of his pdf book is shown below. JANK23H:
They set up camps na and never claimed to be indigenes.
All Ijaw colonialization of people coasts starts from setting camps first and foremost. Fishing camps.

Then they start pirate activities to ward off the in dwelling villages from coming close to the coasts.
Then they slowly start building shanties in lands close to the coasts. This is the stage at which they give the settlement a name.

Then now start marrying women from the owners of the land they hijacked their coasts, they multiply quickly and soon they start receiving more of their people from their homeland who come in droves to the the colony.

This is how it happened every where Ijaws occupied the coastline.

The Yorubas nipped it at pirate stage in Lagos and stopped it at expansion stage in Ondo.

Gabonese territorial tribes understand the game well too.

The Akwaibom tribes seem to not understand this game as well, because Ijaw presence has been on the rise in Ibeno and Eastern Obolo in the past decades. It's a ticking time bomb.

Yorubas are more politically aware especially when it comes to things that threatens their borders and territory. They cut it early as it is budding. You can't even find minorities in their religion. They deal with you immediately.

When Ijaws were terrorising Ikorodu, looking for place to annex with piracy, Yorubas stepped in immediately.

Yoruba's weak point are the Fulanis when it comes to territories.
Yes!
I remember this Ikorodu debacle.
Ijaws are still crying over their inability to get foothold on Lagos coasts in their groups.

Yorubas are very strategic at leadership level.
They beat us hands down on that.
We have the most aloof and non strategic leadership in Nigeria.

Ijaws always know their place.Dem no dey do pass their selves. They migrated there and still make contact with their families back home till date.

An Ijaw will only react if you attack him first, otherwise he'll remain at his coast and do his fishing.

If they are as ambitious as most of you say,you won't find them mostly along the coast or rivers. They would sojourn inland and dominate.
Ijaws know nothing.

You were simply shown your place by Gabonese tribes who themselves are very territorial and non accommodating.

If they gave you an inch in those their water fronts, it would have been a different story today. You would have immediately set up camps there immediately start naming the coastal lands after your local names , looked for smaller tribes to annex and start making Aboriginal claims in a matter of a century.

One thing Ndigbo should do now is to document their achievements, especially on the Food aspect.
Ndigbo should document our traditional food before it turns to everybodys own.

You see this yellow garrri, when most Nigerians understand the marvelous discovery behind it, every ethnic group especially the Yorubas that are comparing it with their poison (Ijebu garrri) will try to claim co-ownership. And when they do, they will hype it with their media.

If you can remember, they once argued about Egwusi and if care is not taken might do the same for Ọgbọnọ in the future.

Infact, some times I wonder what the job of Ọhaneze Ndigbo is. This is supposed to be one of their Job.
True.
Eguisi is now called general Nigerian food, including Ogbono.
Even Yorubas and other ethnicities are now dragging it.

I had to break down the meaning of Ogbono to a Yoruba man to show him that it is an Igbo food.
Ogbo= when it boils
Ono= it becomes slimy.

Ogbono when broke down in it's original Igbo words means something that when boiled becomes slimy. grin

Yeah. You are right, we need our foods patented and full credits given to us.

No it's not part of the Ijaw musical instruments.

There are Ijaw migrant camps in Gabon and Cameroon. They aren't Indegenes. In Gabon, government policies have forced them hinterland and been absorbed by indigenous tribes.

I remember my dad and grandad used to tell me stories of how they would go fishing from my village in Sagbama to Gabon. It's actually very close by sea, like their backyard. They'd paddle all the way and back.

The first migration to Gabon was in the early 20s forming Kala(small) fishing ports.
They are not Indigenes because the Gabonese tribes were wise and were quickly on your case immediately you showed up in their coasts.
If they had allowed you to settle, in 50yrs you will start springing up your villages everywhere and in 100years you would be Indigenes.

I don't say things for the sake of talking, and I joke with Igbo history and accomplishments.

The whites are now trying to make the discovery look like accident, but they forgot that they never told our ancestors that Garri was toxic.

Our ancestors discovered it was toxic and as far as I, Ndigbo and reasonable black Africans are concerned, after series of experiments discovered the cure which it palm oil. The whites after seeing a black race (Ndigbo) discover what they couldn't are trying to suppress the achievement.

The whites don't eat Garri because of it, but when it got to the Great Ndigbo, we cured the poison.

To them, their own is discoveries but when black do his own it will be considered an accident. Ndị ara
Our ancestors are too much.
We should give them more credit

I remember the war they had in Ondo state over land as they were fighting Ilajes for land there.
If Yorubas were as senseless and non strategic like Igbo Leaders starting from Zik to modern day Governors, the Ijaws would have since claimed the entire ONDO sea coasts.

But Yorubas made sure to keep them in check.

They were also checkmated in Lagos seas coasts too.
It's sad to admit, but Yorubas always had more strategic and foresighted Politicians than we do in Igboland.

Ijebu Garri outside Nigeria? grin you are the Funniest ignoramus I have seen this year.

Until Ijebu Garri is cured from Cyanogenic glycoside which is in Cassava itself , it can never meet the international nutritional standards and as such will be continued to be considered as poison over seas. Any Ijebu Garri you see outside SW is smuggled without the authorities of the regulatory agencies to be consumed by ignorant Yorubas alone.

You can never see anybody selling Ijebu Garri in SE. If any try, he will be arrested

Ijebu Garri is poison because of its high cyanide content. The only way to remove those Cyanogenic Glycoside is by using what we use that turns it to yellow Garri. I won't tell what it is you so that you lots will keep on looking sick and systematically continue to lose sight (blind) as a result of Cyanogenic glycoside accumulation in your eye lenses.

Comparing your poison with our actual food is an insult only ignoramuses make.
Wow ! I thought you were joking until I checked it up and found out it was a scientific fact, Jesus!

Addition of palm oil before flying the Garri reduces the cyanide content significantly!

How did our parents know this without going to school or carrying out any experiment?

Impressive stuff!

From this I gather Bonny kingdom was wide. Having Bonny Town as a kind of main town or capital. Which could mean there were sections closer to Kalabari who would claim Ijaw, and possibly even claim the town as back then. However, the town wasn't theirs as it was founded by the Ndoki.

All the communities, Kalabari Ibani and the Igbo founders can coexist together. But the problem started when the Ijaw became greedy and wanted ownership of the kingdom. Fabricating various falsehoods and using federal government backing to terrorise Bonny Igbos during and after the war.

I remember now, about 4 years ago when researching about Bonny in IPOB, I came across a news publication dated 2011 when Ojukwu died. It was from Bonny, under the auspices of Bonny Igbos Association or something like that, headed by a certain Comrade Ogbonna and he spoke with the confidence of one who knows who he is. I can't remember exactly if it was a resident Igbos association or indigenous Igbos stuff. In any case such association existed. Maybe it still does.

There was a week's mourning or so, declared for Ikemba. And the king of Bonny was notified officially of the mourning activities, while inviting other nationalities to join them in mourning Ikemba.

For the love of God whatever happened to that association!

Whenever I am chanced I will dig up that newspaper publication and provide it here.
Yes.
I made same inference from the Baike report.
