Ekealterego:
Can you imagine this statement?
Minorities are really suffering.

Following the recognition as a district, a colonial customary court was set up at Onopa to stop the people from pulling canoes to litigate cases at Brass Island Province and Sagbagreai, where they lost cases because of wrong interpretation of Epie by Izons trained as interpreters.
In Eastern region, Epie-Attisa people always aligned with NCNC and were rewarded with juicy posts to the anger of Izons.
I once saw this in a literature review like that.
Let me search for it and post here now.

I guess Ukiwe and co had this in mind when they favored Yenegoa as the capital of Bayelsa state.

Ijaws will regret the day they drank Ogogoro finish and started eyeing Igbo speaking territories of Bonny, Opobo and Ndoki.

We are about to expose their open secrets.
We ignored their Political franchise for long because we felt it didn't concern us, if the whole NIGERIA will allow such Fraud to stand, then so be it.
But they overstepped their boundaries and it's bust time for them.

It's bad enough that we have two separate independent ethnicities in Hausa and Fulani going together as Hausa-Fulani.
But in Ijaw, you have up to 10 independent ethnicities being manipulated into a fraudulent Political franchise called Political Ijaw by 4 LGA Izons.

They are not wise, an Epie-Attisa son wrote an article we are helping to spread to ensure Ijaws don't commit cultural genocide by assimilating smaller ethnic groups in Bayelsa, and they are here running helter skelter

Lol!
Ebitu Ukiwe was an Igbo Military officer from Abia State who Zik sent Obi Wali and his other Igboid Rivers delegation to, when they came to meet Zik in Onitsha about their domination in Old Rivers State and the way forward to free them from Ijaw domination.

It was Ebitu Ukiwe who suggested creation of Bayelsa for Ijaws to depopulate Rivers State of Ijaws and allow Igboids dominate, while making sure Ijaws don't shortchange other minorities in Bayelsa by siting the state capital in a land we know the natives are not ethnically Ijaws, but Edoid speakers. tongue

Mr man. If they are not Ijaw we wouldnt have sent state capital there during the creation of Bayelsa.
By 1996 that Bayelsa was created the whole Yenagoa had 1 secondary school and two primary schools.
See how far we've come.
It's because they were Ijaws.
That's y we wrote state capital Yenagoa to what we gave Abacha.
Those who were responsible for Bayelsa creation.
The likes of Ebitu Ukiwe who had the ears of Abacha specifically wanted the capital in Yenegoa for a reason.
They knew that Epie-Attisa people were not Ijaws.
They played a fast one on you Ijaws.

You thought you were wise, now have they not left you? grin

That picture was created by Igbo.
Nope.
It wasn't.
Linguists had long studied all the Languages in Nigeria.

Epie-Atissa is an Edoid language.
Degema (Udekeme) is Edoid
Engenni is Edoid (Burna boy is from this ethnic group)

Ogbia (GEJ ethnic group) is Ibibiod (Cross-River language group)
Abureni is Ibibiod
Abuloma (Obulom) is Ibibiod
Andoni is Ibibiod
Odual/Abua is Ibibiod.

All these groups are not Ijaw people.

Enough of the Ijaw fraudulent Political franchising of independent groups in riverine SS.

It has gone on for too long unchallenged. This fraud cannot be tolerated any more.

That even Arogbo Ijaw in Ondo state bear.
Eleme people bear Kamalu, Okochi, Dike, Dimkpa and other Igbo names.
But we know they don't speak an Igboid language, they speak an Ogoniod language, and for this reason can't be said to be Igbo.
Look at Eleme VIP with Igbo surnames, does that make them Igbo?
People borrow names for reasons best known to them, but mother tongue is what defines a people.
Epie-Atissa are Edoid speakers and can't be Ijaw.

See the language classification.

1. Izon

2. Epie

3. Isoko.

You can see that 2 and 3 belong to same group, while 1 is independent.

Ijaw is a political franchise and not an ethnic group.

No it's not.
Ijaw is a political franchise not an ethnic group.

Epie-Attisa people are Edoid speakers. They speak like Isoko people.
And they have a history of migration from Edo state.
They are the owners of Yenegoa.

They claim Ijaw when necessary for Political advantages,as per Nigerian crude oil politics and pipeline protection deal.

This is Ibadan oh. No too make mouth abobby we sabi everywhere like palm of our hands. Both Ibadan and Aba have same challenge of garbage, flood and bad roads but Aba has much better houses than Ibadan. There are only 10 highrises around 200 meter radius in the entire Ibadan but more than 20,000 4 to 7 floor buildings in Aba scattered across vast areas yet you are capping. This is old Aba township Ndiegoro where the Enyimba Stadium is located. It was full of colonial houses of bungalows and just a storey buildings but has been rapidly demolished and replaced with thousands of 4 to 7 floors as well. You cannot claim a place stuck in the past as better than a place evolving albeit more by the people than government.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AN4Lt4pM8GA
Imagine the flood in Ibadan, but they love suffering and smiling to appear suffersticated, so they don't come on social media to lambast their failed leaders.
And because in Igboland we have no respect for bad Leaders, we don't hide bad roads , floods and all, we bash bad leaders and display their failure in governance for the world to see, for this reason, those whose States are even worst than those in SE or whose leaders are doing worst, get the feeling that they are better off than Ndiigbo.

I was enjoying this thread until I noticed Bigotry.
Just like the other Ijaw guys have told you, until you can change the realities on ground, all you are doing is just academic excercise.

I have friends and in-laws from Bonny and Opobo who have identified as Ijaws and I think it will be foolish to argue with people who haven't stepped foot on Opobo or Bonny to get a first hand knowledge of this people.

Until you step foot on Opobo and do the needful, you are only fooling yourselves.

Your assertions are inconsequential
So it's okay to have people who speak Igbo, Ibibiod and Edoid as part of your ethnic group, just because they want to benefit from crude oil politics that Ijaws are in charge of.
Then get angry when people point out to you that your ethnicity is a fraudulent one, since it is not based on homogeneity of language, but on Political and economic benefits?

You see where the problem lies!

Until you limit your Ijaw ethnicity to just Izon and Ijoid language speakers and leave Igboid speakers (Bonny and Opobo), Edoid speakers (Epie-Attisa, Udekeme Engenni) and Ibibiod speakers (Obulom, Abua, Ogbia, Abureni, Andoni, etc) alone.

We will continue to call Ijaw what it is, which is a "political franchise".
It is the pure truth and we will not shy away from saying it.
You can cry all you like, but the truth must be said.

Let me go to your level of Bigotry.

I insist Igbo is not an ethnic group but a political franchise.

If it is not bigotry, then I don't see why any ethnic group should be reduced to a mere political franchise.

Most people accused Buhari and most Northerners of tribal bigotry but here we are displaying bigotry.

If Ijaws are not a ethnic group, then Igbos are not an ethnic group.

If you check my history on this forum, I have defended Igbos especially during the unnecessary militarization of the Igboland by the Federal Govt.

I am disappointed that some Igbos are no different from some of the bigoted northern oligarchs which I have been defending the Igbos against.

I now know why some person will only shout marginalization when they are not benefitting from the center
Tell yourself the truth.
Is Ijaw an ethnic group?

Where else in the world do you have an ethnic having groups within it with totally divergent and unrelated languages?

How exactly is Ogbia Ijaw?
The people speak a language that is totally Ibibiod and classified as a Cross River language.
It has no relationship whatsoever with Izon. This is the truth. No lies here.

Look at Abureni, look at Obulom (Abuloma), look at Odual and Andoni.
These people all speak Ibibio language related to each other and to Ibibio. The language is classified Cross River language for crying out loud by linguists. No Izon man from Gbaramatu can understand a single sentence in those languages, but an Ibibio man who listens well can pick out one or two things.

Look at Epie, Atissa, Engenni, Udekeme (Degema) .
These people are essentially Edoid people, distant relatives to Isokos. They call Child "Omo" and speak like other Edoids.

How can anyone call them Ijaw?

Then look at Opobo and Bonny. These people speak Igbo language.
Undiluted Igbolanguage that an Igbo speaking person from far away Nsukka in Enugu will understand without an interpreter.
But you want to tell me they are Ijaws, using dubious and deliberate manipulation to coerce them into dropping Igbo language.

Come on! Ijaw as an ethnic group can only happen in a fraudulent country like NIGERIA where truth is abhored and lies are embraced which is why the country is not working.

On one hand you Izons claim that Language doesn't matter in ethnicity, that what matters is to shout Aswana and Izon haa and then crude oil and riverine terrain, and then on other hand , you are busy forcing people to drop their mother languages to fit into your Kolokuma language, because deep inside, you know that uniformity of language is the basis of real organic ethnicity World wide.

I have nothing against Izons, but the truth must be said.
You lots are living in lies and building your franchise on top of falsehoods.
And you expect folks to keep quiet even when you are virtually trying to erase our Igbo legacy in Bonny and Opobo?

Ikot Abasi people are Ibibiod speakers.

Why should we claim a people who don't speak our language as mother tongue?

We are not desperate land grabbers like Ijaws.
