NPTJ: Good morning house
The only sister i and my other siblings had met a Man around 2008. He's from Imo state, a deportee from Germany who was in his late 40s when they met. My sister was just out of high school then and struggling to secure admission into any of the tertiary institutions. Luckily, she got admission to study law at Unilag after her second attempt. Sadly, there was no money to process the admission, she lost it. She was the first and only daughter of our parents. My parents were incapacitated financially to support her dream
My father never wanted her to work then, for guys not to take advantage of her or something. Having lost the admission, she insisted to work inorder to raise money for her studies. My dad got no option than to obliged
She met this man barely a year she started working. She was in her early 20s and full of dreams. Lest I forget, she was staying with our grand mother due to distance. This man got my sister pregnant and we got to hear about it. My dad got the man arrested and beat the hell out of my sister. He wept bitterly claiming this isn't the life he envisioned for his only daughter
He beseeched her and talk sense into her but she insisted, claiming she loved the man. This man was deported after spending almost half of his productive years outside the shores of Nigeria. He came back home with nothing and the next thing he could do was to got my sister pregnant claiming he loves her beyond words
My sister moved in with him and they started living together. We lost our grand parents (paternal and maternal) Yet, this man and my sister never stepped their foot in our house to commesorate. I lost my eldest brother, same thing happened. They never showed up. I was the 4th child of five children. Though, only four left now. She hardly call our parents nor we her siblings. To cap it all, my sister had stopped using phone ever since she moved to pourtharcourt with this man
This same man always attend his family function and very much into his family but isolated my sister away from her family. My sister never called throughout my days in the university just to know how I'm fairing, despite knowing our family condition. A very close friend of mine noticed this while in school and i did explained everything to him. He felt so bittered. He asserted the man might be diabolic, he's from the same town with the man in imo state
My parents are in their early/late 60s respectively and aging gradually. They couldn't felt the presence of their only daughter. Interestingly, family members got suspicious and they kept asking after her but my parents are bent on covering up, claiming she's fine. Yet, they goes to their closets to cry bitterly for the life of their daughter. I asked my dad why covering up, he claimed to have known his family pretty well, that they would do nothing
I'm just a young graduate, still job haunting. While my elder brother is gainfully employed with 50k as his monthly take home. He's being supportive with day to day running of the house and that of our last born studies. A friend suggested myself and elder brother with any of our uncle should go and treat the man's fvckup for eloping with someone's daughter without paying her bride price nor any other marital rite. I told him that isn't feasible for now due to our poor finances.
Nonetheless, we can't continue folding our hands and watch this man get away with this. She is the only daughter of our parents. Her presence is highly needed in their life, especially my mother
Please what can we do to make things work for my family back? I can't imagine having a sister who's more like a living dead
Any help, input or suggestions from anyone! I dont know what tribe you are but I say shame on that Igbo man. He knows by Igbo culture it is a shameful thing to take a woman without a bride price and he is doing it. I suspect your sister is being abused by this man hence the isolation from her family. If you know where she is, take a trip down there to PH and find her to see her with your 2 eyes and talk with her. If you need transport money to get down there,I will gladly help you |

needhelp909: My younger who is age 20 has been battling with a sickness for over a year now. His body is swelling up. Eyes, neck, legs and stomach. They all appear puffed. We have done all kinds of test and treatment, nobody has been able to diagnose the nature of the sickness. There is no pain whatsoever, just swellings especially after a nap. Also he sleeps more than usual. There was a period it went down for like 3 months. But now we are back to it again. He is having difficulty in breathing because of the throat swellings I will be attaching some of the drugs he is using. And will be available to answer questions.
Pls ignore the typos here. Don't listen to any advice about getting herbs or doing prayer and fasting and going for deliverance. Please take him to a teaching hospital as soon as possible and the specialist you should be seeing is a nephrologist |

IPOB is being very foolish by systemically destroying Igboland by grounding the region. Other regions are moving forward but you choose to move backwards, destroying businesses and killing people in the process. This is stupidity Any iota of sympathy I had for the group has flown out the window. Being under Buhari is looking more attractive than being under IPOB I denounce this with every fiber in my being and yes I am a full-blooded Igbo woman |

Christianity Etc › If You Could Ask God One Question, What Will It Be? by igbowoman(op): 10:57am On Sep 28, 2021 |
Sometimes I fantasize and wish I could ask God one question just like I would speak to someone beside me and get a satisying answer to this one question I have. Why does the bible say we should ask anything in his name by faith and it will be done unto us yet we pray for very sick loved ones and they don't get healed but most times end up dying. I have seen this happen over and over again and it saddens me each time. I have prayed for many sick people believing for a miracle but they still died. It is always sad and sometimes very discouraging.
What is that nagging question you wish you could ask God and receive a satisfying answer ? |

I always laugh when there is a thread about a cheating wife and the boys will start hyperventilating telling us the man should pack her things and send her to her father's house. I love to see their frustrations pouring out in their responses In Nigeria today most husbands can't afford to pay house rent and feed without the woman's income , you all know that already. But somehow when you type you forget that reality. Many of the women are the major bread winners . This is 2021 Nobody is packing anybody's things and taking their kids Only Mgbekes get that sort of treatment today. A woman will carry a baby 9 months and birth her and you take the child and kick her out? Are u mad? Am I saying it is good to cheat? Absolutely not. Her story may be totally different If they can work it out and she is remorseful let them work it out , if they can't, let them go their separate ways. |
Romance › Re: Women Ride Motorcycles In Brazil(photo) by igbowoman: 10:04am On Sep 28, 2021 |
walkbrazil4k: I come from a country where females don't ride motorcycles and bicycles in the city, but would you find few women riding tricycles in the city but in villages in my country you would see women riding bicycles and motorcycles but in the main city it is always hard to find women that ride bikes and many would even laugh at you or many women are even shy to ride motorcycles because they feel too big or they feel that they are bigger than motorcycles, they prefer a car or using Uber to shuttle around.
This is why in developed countries they have bicycle lanes so people can ride and this is very important to reduce pollution and where I come from, in the city, you would hardly see women or girls ride bicycles, lol. maybe because many of the roads are bad. Lol, I would leave you to be the judge and we are not used to women driving buses and all that because in Africa we believe there are some things that women shouldn't be allowed to do or some jobs that they should not do, I think before in Iran women are not allowed to ride bicycles or maybe they do now.
Brazilian women have rights and there is freedom for everyone and in Brazil, you have bicycle lanes where people can ride their bicycles in peace without stress and it is common in Brazil To see women riding buses, motorcycles and bicycles, in fact even old women you see them riding bikes and it is very common here even the rich have bicycles it is no big deal, you are not poor if you ride bicycles unlike our belief in Africa that it is only the poor that ride bicycles, we must imbibe the bicycle riding culture in Africa to reduce pollution so don't be surprised when you come to Brazil and see women riding it is normal here
https://www.walkbrazil4k.com/2021/06/ride-motorcycles-in-brazil-i-come-from.html?m=1 So riding bicycle is now divided into riding it in the city and riding it in the village. You acknowledge that in Nigeria women ride bikes in villages but you are fascinated that in Brazil they ride them in cities. In Ngwa there has always been females riding bikes , the female bikes are called love nwantinti and sometimes rich suitors bought it for the bride's family. Its nothing new. Igbo women have always been fearless hardworking women. |
