He lamented that the nation’s economy which is based on oil has been affected badly as a result of the ravaging of coronavirus.

David Umahi who spoke through his Special Assistant at the Vocational College, Barr. Adaeze Nwaji made this known while briefing Journalists in Abakaliki, Ebonyi state.

The governor noted that there is a need to diversify the state revenue by converting gasoline tricycles and vehicles to Electric and solar energy vehicles, especially if COVID-19 persists.

According to the governor: “We are looking forward to seeing a situation where people will no longer depend on fuel but where all the tricycles and vehicles in the state are electrically powered.

“We are working tirelessly to make sure that the governor’s zero oil economy initiatives are implemented. And that’s why we have come up with this.

“We are building waste to wealth projects by using abandoned containers to construct our tricycles body.

We have a technology that enables us to convert gasoline tricycles and vehicles to Electric and solar energy vehicles.

“Before the end of this week, we will have the first Ebonyi made state Tricycles and vehicles.

Nwaji noted further that the governor directed the Department of Automobile and foundry of the college to ensure that the plan is achieved and sustained.

PoliticsGoodluck Jonathan: I Have No Accounts Or Property Abroad by igwe699(op): 9:56pm On Apr 28, 2020
https://authenticng.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/6c413953-goodluck-jonathan-1024x576.jpg

Former Nigeria President Goodluck Jonathan says he has no accounts or property abroad.

Jonathan made the comment in response to a report that the federal government has requested for the bank statements of public officers including his and his wife, Patience; former ministers of petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke and Rilwanu Lukman.

The request was reported to have been made by Abubakar Malami, the attorney general of the federation, to help an ongoing investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) know individuals involved in the Process & Industrial Developments Ltd gas deal.

“Our attention has been drawn to international media reports to the effect that the Federal Government of Nigeria has subpoenaed bank records for former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan in the United States of America,” the statement signed by Ikechukwu Eze, Jonathan’s spokesman, read.

“We aver that the Federal Government of Nigeria did not contact Dr Jonathan or his wife before issuing these subpoenas. If they had, we would have advised them of the fact that you cannot subpoena what does not exist.”

Eze referenced a comment made by Jonathan during the swearing-in of new ministers on March 5, 2014, when the former president said he had no accounts or property abroad.

“We are confident in stating that between that time and now, nothing has changed with regards to Dr Goodluck Jonathan. He has no accounts in the United States of America and encourages US authorities to cooperate fully with the Federal Government of Nigeria’s subpoena.

“We would also like to state that during his tenure as President of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Jonathan extended every courtesy to former Presidents and Heads of state because he believed and still believes that promoting, projecting and protecting Nigeria’s sovereignty and the image is the paramount duty of her government because it is not possible to belittle Nigerians without belittling Nigeria.”

Eze said the P&ID contract was signed before the Jonathan administration and that he “gave appropriate counsel to the incoming government in the handover notes of 2015, which advice if carried out, would have prevented the current unfortunate circumstances”.

Nigeria hopes to overturn a $9.7 billion judgement awarded against it for breach of agreement in a botched gas project.

Nyesom Wike, Governor of Rivers State has ordered the Immediate Deportation of All Almajiris and vagrants in Rivers State as measures to curtail the spread of Coronavirus in Rivers State.

The Governor in a State Wide Broadcast Said: 'We have also directed the Commissioner of Social Welfare to round-up and deport all vagrants, including the almajiris, to their States of origin to protect our people from the threat they present to the transmission of this pandemic.'

The Governor also locked up some areas of the state on 24 Hours basis.

See Governor Wike Full Statement in a Statewide Broadcast:

My Dear Good People of Rivers State,

It gives me pleasure to address you, once again, on the state of our struggle against the transmission of COVID-19 in Rivers State.

2. As at yesterday, 26th April 2020, Rivers State had 6 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 2 fully recovered and discharged, 2 confirmed deaths, while 2 are active and presently receiving treatment in our isolation and treatment centre at Nchia General Hospital, Eleme.

3. The recent positive cases, in spite of the strategic measures we have put in place, are clear evidence of gradual increase in transmission of the virus, which has happened as a result of the actions of those who either chose to breach or sabotage our directives on lockdown and social distancing.

4. We consider the emerging trend as not only serious and risky, but also, one that compels us to step-up our strategies and prevent a spike in the transmission of the coronavirus in our State.

5. It is important to re-emphasize that, in the absence of any vaccine, the directives and restrictions we have imposed remain the only viable way to contend with the scourge, stop its spread and save the lives of our people.

6. While we are truly concerned with the economic consequences and the resultant suffering on our people, especially the vulnerable ones among us, we are more worried about the irreplaceable lives that we have lost and could still loose on account of this pandemic.

7. For this reason, we should all be prepared to go through more stringent measures, including a

Kano Deaths - The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, has accused the Nigerian government of neglecting the state, as it battles the COVID-19 outbreak.

Ganduje stated this in an interview with BBC Hausa Service on Monday.

When asked if he was getting supports from federal government agencies on the fight against Coronavirus, the Governor replied: “Sincerely speaking, we are not getting deserved attention.

“If these equipment (testing centre) are under our control, we will do our best to make sure it works properly.

“But we are not getting the needed support and cooperation from Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.”

Nigeria’s Health Minister, Osagie Ehanire, has already assured that the COVID-19 testing centre in Kano will resume operations on Monday.

Kano State is also battling with mysterious deaths, which the state government claimed might be complications arising from acute malaria, hypertension, diabetes and meningitis.

PoliticsFraud And Corruption In Imo State Is Mind Blowing – Hope Uzodinma by igwe699(op): 12:08pm On Apr 27, 2020
Hope Uzodinma, Governor of Imo State has come up to say that the level of corruption in Imo State is mind blowing.

Th Governor in a special broadcast to mark his 100 Days in office sited some of the achievement he has made.

The Statement read thus:

My beloved NDIMO, I am indeed glad to address you on this auspicious occasion of the 100 days of my administration. As you will recall, about 100 days ago, precisely on January 15th this year, I was sworn in as the duly elected Governor of our beloved Imo State. This was sequel to the landmark judgement of the Supreme Court the previous day, which restored the mandate the good people of Imo State freely gave me on March 9th 2019, as your duly elected Governor.

However, the circumstances of this historic victory did not avail me the luxury of a transition period, which most governors- elect have the privilege of using as a preparatory phase to actual governance. I assumed office less than 24 hours after my final victory and still hit the ground running.

The situation was not helped by the sorry state of affairs I inherited. There was no handover note from the previous government to mine. This left me with no definite starting point.
In addition, I inherited an empty treasury and a disillusioned, disoriented and dispirited civil service.

It was sad to behold the site of the Imo State Civil Service Secretariat. The roofs of all the buildings housing the civil service structure were leaking. All the blocks were dirty and unkempt. There was no water in the buildings just as there was no light. To describe the entire environment where our civil servants worked as reminiscent of an abandoned scary set of buildings in which no decent person can conduct any meaningful business will be a gross understatement. It was close to a piggery!

Worse still, I inherited a public service sector that was riddled with corruption and fraud. The amount of Imo State money that was siphoned through a public sector corruption riddled payroll system was simply mind blowing. It was, to say the least, incredible.

It was very painful to me that while Imo people groaned under the yoke of scanty infrastructural provisions and lack of efficient public service delivery, few heartless people were regularly siphoning huge sums of money from public coffers. Needless to add that these stolen funds could have been used to provide more infrastructures and services to the people............
I reasoned rightly that I had a choice to make in the face of the daunting situation on ground; 1. To sweep the appalling situation under the carpet and continue to do business as usual, as previous administrations did, and receive accolades for doing little or nothing. Or

2. To summon the courage and do the right thing by flushing out an endemic corruption that threatened the survival of our State, and risk being initially misunderstood.

I made my choice and chose the latter. I did so, because I do know that Leadership...........
