Car Talk / Re: Club-Lexus by igwedaboss(m): 11:18pm On Apr 06, 2022
Good day, everyone,

Please I need some expert opinion from pros and those with similar experience.

About a month ago, my 2009 Lexus ES 350 alarm goes off unprovoked. The key becomes ineffective and the alarm shuts off on its own after about 1-2minutes. I can only have access to the car manually because the key won't work at this time. When I turn on the car, it starts but here is the problem, when I switch it off, the fan goes off but the engine remains on with the dashboard lights staying on as well. To switch it off completely, I will have to disconnect the battery. When I reconnect the battery back, it remains the same, the car starts but won't switch off completely. By now, the key starts working.

I called my rewire who came a day later to take the car for about 2 days. Mind you, when the rewire came, the car had returned to normal. When he returned the car, everything was fine until two nights ago when rain fell. The alarm goes off and the same thing happened.

On doing some research, I was only able to get information from a mechanic site that said such issues are caused by the 'body computer' technically referred to as the Body Control Module. That when the car is been washed or when rain falls, water may get into the body computer and it begins to display all the above-mentioned issues.

If you have had the issue before, how did you resolve it and for the pros, how can I resolve it? Thank you for your responses.

Why Big Brands Advertise on BRT Bus in Lagos - Its Benefits & Costs

In this article, we will be discussing why local and international brands advertise on BRT buses in Lagos and its immerse benefits & advert rates. Transit or BRT buses in Lagos, Nigeria serve as an effective platform for advertising.

So why do these brands, SMEs alike tend to use this platform? The simple answer is EXPOSURE.

Why You Should Look Into BRT Bus Advertising in Lagos State

Let us break it down further. Lagos state is located in the southwestern geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The smallest in area of Nigeria's 36 states, with a population of an estimated 18 million people. Lagos State is the most economically important state of the country. It is a major financial centre and would be the fifth-largest economy in Africa if it were a country. According to Nairametrics, Lagos state (pre-covid) attracted 66.9% ($14.16 billion) of the total foreign investment.

The reason why I referred to these stats is to point out the economical value of Lagos state in Nigeria and Africa as a whole. Whatever business idea you think you have, there's someone or a business entity already offering it. It may not be exactly the same but closely related. This indicates the high level of competition in almost every sector. For you or your brand to stand out, you need to invest in marketing & advertising either online or offline. While digital marketing is quite popular, you can not rule out traditional marketing as they still play a very impactful role in creating awareness and exposure.

Big, small, local or international brands with smart marketing teams understand the value of using buses as an effective advertising medium. Its plays a strategic component in the marketing mix. Among the out-of-home advertising medium, BRT bus advertising comes at the top because it is not static and can reach a broader audience for a set period of time. These buses cover different popular routes of the city, plying important roads thus providing high visibility for your brand.

Fun Facts About Adverts on Transit/BRT Buses
You won't be able to zap it.
It's impossible to ignore.
It cannot be turned off in the same way that television can.
It gets across road users regardless of which radio stations they are listening to.
The eye is drawn to the huge, vivid, and inventive designs.
In your space, you have exclusivity.
It appeals to a wide range of people.
It allows for ad size and placement versatility.

Five (5) Benefits & Advantages of Advertising using BRT Buses in Lagos, Nigeria
Advertising with BRT Buses creates an opportunity for your brand to compete effectively in your marketplace. Your brand message can reach a large portion of your target demographic. When it comes to purchasing decisions, transit buses put your brand's message in front of consumers' minds.
Consumers will remember your message the more they see your advert. BRT bus advertising allows your message to run for a set period of time and your audience gets to see it all through the set period.
Targeting by Location: Your brand message can be carried into crucial communities and places through transit advertising. Other types of large-format advertising lack this flexibility.
Daily Exposure: When people ride buses or sit at bus stops or road users in traffic, they are all exposed to your brand message for long periods of time. Consumers will be more familiar with your brand's message if they are exposed to it for a longer period of time.
BRT Bus advertising is a cost-effective way to contact people for long periods of time at a low cost. Other large size advertisements, such as billboards, would necessitate the use of many channels to obtain the same level of exposure.

In conclusion, BRT Bus advertising is one of the most effective ways to reach your target audience today, and the cost of advertising on BRT BUSES in Lagos is rather low when compared to other forms of advertising. Politics / Re: Why Saraki Cannot Be Nigeria’s President – APC by igwedaboss(m): 12:40pm On Sep 06, 2018
2Ebisco:
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, is unfit to lead Nigeria.

Yekini Nabena, APC National Publicity Secretary, said this in a statement on Wednesday.

He noted that while every Nigerian has the right to run for any office, there are many issues that border on such person’s integrity, antecedents, competence and capability to preside over the affairs of the country.

Nabena stated that APC was aware that Saraki’s presidential declaration was a tactic to deflect attention from the deluge of issues he deals with, particularly ahead of the 2019 General Elections.

He said pressure to reconvene the National Assembly, a fast-shifting political order in Kwara State, among others were a few examples.

Nabena wrote: “By virtue of Saraki’s antecedents, he is an abysmal failure and is totally incompetent to offer himself as a candidate for leadership of Nigeria. Saraki was a two-term Governor of Kwara State and Senate President in the last three years. What were his performance records in these two assignments?

“As Kwara State Governor, was his Shonga Agricultural Programme, not a white elephant project in which hundreds of millions of State funds was sunk into? The infrastructure, particularly roads network in Kwara State in which the present administration remains under his tight grip and political machinations long after leaving office, remains deplorable while state resources are mismanaged through corrupt enrichment.

“A Presidential aspirant who promises to create jobs and turn around the economy at the national level must have done so in a state he served as Governor for eight years. We challenge Saraki to give the nation his scorecard as a Kwara State.

“As Senate President, how Saraki used the position to superintend over budget padding, sabotage of the executive by frustrating confirmation of presidential nominees, stalling legislative approvals for election budgets and his recent shadow boxing on the Electoral Act, among other treacherous actions against the APC (which he was then a member) in pursuit of his selfish political interests has been well reported.

“Was Saraki’s Senate Presidency not a journey of shame and disgrace? – moving from one Court or Tribunal to another over charges of forgery of Senate Rules, false declaration of assets, and being linked with armed robbers who brutally killed and maimed innocent residents in Offa recently.

“Saraki says he is heeding the call of Nigerian youths to contest the Presidency. We are not aware of any meeting of Nigerian youths held during which they decided that. For the record, the #NotTooYoungToRun group berated Saraki for selfishly using their forum to make his presidential declaration. We are not surprised by Saraki’s selfish actions as it has come to define his politics and persona.

“Saraki says he will offer leadership driven by empathy. Coming from an incredibly selfish and self-opinionated politician this is indeed an irony. Saraki’s Presidential aspiration is a huge joke and should not be taken seriously.

“He has repeatedly displayed his character as extremely selfish, deceitful, untrustworthy and unreliable. His only goal is to get to the top, stay at the top, ruin or wreck whatever he finds there or in the event of failure, collapse the system or process.

“Nigerians have had enough of Dr. Bukola Saraki’s retrogressive and disruptive style of politics and deserve no more.”

Source: http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/09/why-saraki-cannot-be-nigerias-president.html

I will continue to say this; Saraki has nothing to offer Nigerians if he were to be made president. It is not by been able to deliver oratory skilled speech. If you think Saraki is the best option, I please indulge you to visit kwara state. I beg you.

Business / More Than A Fund-raising Tool. Other Reasons Why You Need A Business Plan. by igwedaboss(m): 10:36pm On Apr 12, 2018
I’m writing on this topic because over the years as a Business Writer, I have come across start-ups and business owners who don’t see reasons why they need a Business Plan other than to request for a bank loan from financial institutions, grants from NGOs, and investment opportunities from angel investors. Well, in truth, you need a business plan to achieve the aforementioned reasons but in reality, it is a lot more than that. If you are reading this article, it's most likely you fall into this category of people and I will make it clear why you need a written plan for your business beyond just accessing financial support.
The real question I would like you to ask yourself is, why do these financial institutions, organizations, and investors request a business plan? Give a thought to it, why do they request it? Whatever answer that might come to your thoughts is part of the reasons why you should have it. Let’s start by understanding what a business plan is. These are some definitions;

- According to the government of the United Kingdom, a business plan is a written document that describes your business.
- According to startup loans, a business plan is a written document that describes your core business objectives and how you plan to achieve them over a set period of time.
- Wikipedia defines it as a formal statement of business goals, reasons they are attainable, plans for reaching them.
- My definition of a business plan is a written document that shows the blueprint to achieving short-term and long-term business goals. It is your ‘fallback-to business document’ when you are stuck.

From the definitions above, you will notice there are common words used in defining a business plan. These common words are written, describe, goals, and attainability. So, the main reasons why financial institutions and others will request for your business plan is to first understand your business model, goals and objectives, revenue model and how you intend to achieve it. Are these not enough reasons for you to have a business plan other than for seeking loans or grants?
Let’s go a bit further.

Real Reasons Why You Need A Business Plan

A Blueprint for Your Business: The hard truth is, if you wish to build a striving business that would be of value to society, you will need a business model. To achieve a successful business, you need to plan. It shows your commitment to achieving your vision for the business. A business plan becomes your blueprint. It is the document you will refer back to when you come across obstacles and challenges. Therefore, it is an important value to building your empire whether big or small.
Sticking to the plan: When you start running your business affairs, you will come across potential and new opportunities, the moment you begin to get distracted, your business will most likely begin to get affected negatively. With that said, if you have a business plan, you will know what course of action to take. It will be able to help you understand if the new and potential opportunity is healthy for the growth of your business or not.
Course of Action: Almost everyone who has started a business at one point or the other will face a situation when they don’t know what to do next. It has happened to me too. Guess what? The business plan helps in showing the direction you need to follow. Are you still underestimating the necessity of a business plan? Keep reading.
Knowing your market and competitors: In fact, if you do not know your market, what are you doing to start a business? Understanding your market gives you an edge in winning market shares. Knowing your competitors will help you identify their strengths and weaknesses. You can then build on their weaknesses to offer more than they are offering, this way, you win. But how do you get to reflect on all this information without a business plan?
To set business goals, objectives, and milestones: By default, every business has short-term and long-term goals. Short-term goals make long-term goals attainable. To actualize your vision for the business, it is important to state them that way you will know all that is necessary to do to achieve them. In the process of attaining them, there are values, objectives, and milestones, these factors make up all the possibilities. When these are all clearly stated in your business plan, you already know you are on the right path to building your business empire.
I’m sure with the above-mentioned reasons, you will agree with me that a written business plan is a necessity for any business whether small or big. Don’t just treat your business or project plan as a fund-raising tool, it offers more. And remember, a business plan is not a static document, it is a dynamic one, time and season change the same as your business; therefore, you need to develop the plan as changes happen.

If you're talking about copy and paste, then it's possible. If you're working with a team of about 5 writers, it's also possible. But the Nigerian bloggers that I know will rather copy and paste than to sit their ass down and write. That's how they have been copying my post without credit.. It's very heartbreaking to see your hard work copied within a space of seconds.

Just because of them, I have to make my post uncopyable. These guys can be annoying. Writing is not easy, but with practice, you'll become exceptional. If I tell them that 99.9% of my post are mine, they see it as an impossible thing.

SAY NO TO COPY AND PASTE.

I think we bloggers need to run the above campaign. These copy and paste bloggers have given us bad names and it's time to deal with them. It's time to shown them that to reap, you must sow.
How did you make it 'uncopyable'?

Thanks

@OP.

Whoever says blog is done with is a big liar. People project their failure on people because they have failed. Don't mind those set of people.

It is true that the industry is saturated, but I can assure you that with a well detailed and informative blog, you will standout. Because the one thing that naija blogs lack is diversity and quality information. A lot of bloggers are information theft and lack the understanding to further make it detailed for viewers to stay on the blog for long.

So before you start blogging. You need to ask yourself several questions. One important thing you need to do is to develop a plan, like a business plan. You have identified some industry niche you like to work on. Have you done enough research to see how this competitors have faired. See ehn, bloggers are scared someone might come and take their spot, so if you really want to do this, look at where they have not satisfied viewers, that is where you will build your uniqueness.

When you have sorted that out. You need to understand the concept of blogging and monetization. This will help you develop the right structure and UX of your blog. SEO is very important, internal linking is very important, content is king, visuals is important as well, this include videos, graphics and podcasts. If you truly want to do this, then study, research and plan to succeed. Bless.
