Thinking about it! How many pairs of shoe is enough for one person? #once went to a girls house and she has over 70 pairs. The funniest part, some she hasn't worn in about a year or more? Why would you buy what you dont need or keep what you dont need anymore. Remember, what you keep owns you, what you let go, frees you. |

stockbull: There are so much people who believe the nigeria stock exchange market is not real,it is gamblingBefore nko? Referencing the bolded but as for whether the market is real or not, it is 101% real. Also, whether its "controlled" by the elite, that as much is true. Can money be made from it, the answer from me remains a BIG YES. |
fxisreal: Hmmm EJ is getting to area of my sell interest @ d green lineNot saying its a bad trade but mehn, you must have enough 'liver' to attempt that. Goodluck man. |
newloaded: Ever since i got married to my wife things have taken a down-turn in all aspects of my life .I now sleep to have funny dreams, nightmares ;waking up to see different scratches all over my body as opposed to how i was before the wedding .I discovered things have just been falling apart and business arent just picking up.I lost my banking job and my business is at its lowest ebb.So many prophets have pin pointed my woes to my wife ,saying she belongs to the marine kingdom and shes in my life to render me to nothing and thereafter destroy me and signs to confirm this i have witnessed on several occasions. There lies your problems. The earlier you stop believing in those, the better for you. You should be searching for the root cause of your problems and not attaching it to some spiritual whatever. |

ayox2003: Bonjour,You know, I keep asking myself why are there so much concentration on brokers in that single country than any country in the world. I use 2 from there but I tell you folks, there is much we need to know than just the alleged 40% tax. Time will tell... ![]() ***No quote me wrong o, I no talk say your investment for Cyprus dey risky or not o. |
feelamong: Am a trader in the market (ASPANDA)however I have early banking experience and had self tutoring the workings of the stock market!Referring to the bolded. That strategy still dey work effectively? These days, them they buy at the very highest price, to sell at the very lowest price. Its called short selling/Contract for Difference. |
Unless your strategy is long-termed, never buy on IPO. At every IPO, the equity is suspended from trading and when it eventually starts trading, the price plummets until it hits its base/actual value to determine whether it would increase or fall further. The reason is, for almost all IPO's, the price determination is based on "guess work" and not the actual stock value. Im sure most of the guys here bought on IPO. I tell my mama same thing with regards to Transcorp, now she dey cry too. Unless your strategy is long-termed, never buy at IPO. If it was in a better investment clime, the Daar Communicaion would have offered themselves for a buy over but you know naija na. Them mind go be, "how I go open business, another person go come buy am for small change, come become the CEO" when obviously the business has lost lifeline. |
Seun: Poorly educated investors are always vulnerable to the pump and dump strategy, but we won't allow that on Nairaland.Didnt quite understand you but talking about not allowing it, are there measures taken by the NSE to avoid/stop/prevent it? Example, in the USA, investor with or holding over ******** (im not sure of the amount, hence the asterisks) are meant to report their holding at each market day. Also, there are guys called the specialists. For the Specialists, their work is to buy/sell whatever amount of equity especially when there are no buyers/seller. lets say in a situation of "pump and dumb", the specialist buys the whatever amount of equity that is dumped, warehouse them until there is a buyer. In this case, the specialist prevents the price of the dumped stock from falling hopelessly. We all know what happens when a particular stock falls hopelessly. There would a mad rush to sell that particular stock, and in the long run, it might force the company into insolvency. |
stockbull: it is illegal in stock exchange almost all over the world but big investors use their influence in doing the illegal. It's not allowed in NSE stockbull: it is illegal in stock exchange almost all over the world but big investors use their influence in doing the illegal. It's not allowed in NSEThe tone of finality in your comment seems funny, the topic was just for discussion. Well, you seem vast in this kind of topic. You can do well to enlighten us. Any known legislation against it? Is NSE doing anything to avoid/prevent/stop it? You know well, these big investors can be creative when engaging in acts like 'pump and dump" thereby making it difficult for them to be prosecuted even if there is any existing legislation against it. Example: Out of the sectors that exists in the NSE, a big investor can target lets say the bank sector. He carefully selects 3 banks (BankA, BankB, BankC) out of all that trades on the bank sector. Now his main target for "pump and dump" is BankB but he will also be investing in BankA and BankC, though not as much as what he invests in BankB. In this case, the equity of BankB increases tremendously, as well as BankA and BankC even so, other equities in banking sector of the NSE increases. Also, if he still has enough money, he can also decided to invest in other related sector like real estate equity which will also be increasing as a result of the run in the banking sector. And before you know it, he dumps them for his money. In this case, will he be accused of illegal trading when you know he traded of collective stock while "pumping and dumping" is about trading an a single stock. ***Im only bringing this up for discussion and also, to enlighten some of us about equity trading. Also, the discussion is not intended to encourage "pump and dump" or any form of illegal equity trading. |
Pump and Dump. Can it work in Nigeria's Investment Market. If it can, is it also illegal as its the case in places like the United States. *Pump and Dump, its often the strategy used by big money bags to artificially create scarcity of a particular equity, inflate the price of the equity and then sell later for a massive profit. |
teeboy4x: Thank God for Additional 1 year...The best of my wishes will be the list of what I will get 2day.HBD Bro' |
What a week!!! You toil up day and night, sleepless nights, draw up charts, read, study, analyse them. Riding on it, your efforts starts paying off positively, and your confidence soars, you see yourself hitting up 85% of your total equity....then b@ng!!! that mistake (over confidence), just that one, single mistake you are back to where you started before market open on Monday.#My story this week. #I might not be making sense but Im just unloading my heavy heart the best way I know to, WRITING so I can feel better to trade the new week. #Talking about World War III, I think we are already in the middle of it (Currency Wars). Every major currency wants to devalue there currency in order to boost export. Japan, seriously I pity them for coming out in the open to say this is strictly what we want to do. If they would actually achieve this feet, what happens to countries like Germany/China even USA that are also export driven? They wouldn't stay by the line and watch Japan render there export market unattractive. They'd fight back and certainly, they are now. A typical case is the Cyprus and how its currently driving Yen and other currencies in that region up. In my opinion, the Cyprus case is "scripted" by the "big heads" with the exclusion on the 'small head" of the Euro member countries to devalue Euro in other to boost export, tourism and even to gain political advantage. #Whatever the war is, whoever is fighting, I dont care. I only want to be on the best side of the trade/trend. #Hmmm..enough ranting by me and even, I still have positions on those crazy pairs. Oluwa abeg keep my account to the new week as I can be an aggressive trader sometimes. #TGIF people. |
