nams77: Na waoh o. Person go even do masters sef? With the way things are going. Bro this thing you said was it in the past or what is currently obtainable. I used to hear that unizik is always on time with its academic/school calendar. But I'm seeing things in a different light now. Thanks for your time . What i said happened in the past where past is just few months ago. Unizik is on time on their calender only and only for undergraduate programmes, when it comes to PG you are on a very long thing. If you have passion for PG then go for it irrespective of what is happening in the system. |

nams77: Pls bro give me more info on unizik. Tnx unizik is a nice school but... Everything they are saying here applies to unixiz. In our own time, over 100 students were admitted for MSc in our department. After five years not more than 15 have graduated from the department. No working PG calender. Inadequate PG hostel, your chance of getting a space in the hostel is not up to 5%. No PG lab for most science departments. The school is always flooded. You have course work and research work. course work takes one year, research work takes another year or more depending on several factors. Then the process of defending the research work takes another year. Research work mostly starts when you are done with course work. The stages in defending your research work is Proposal, departmental defence, faculty defence and external defence. It usually takes more than a year to go through these stages. In most cases students do proposal long after they have completed the research or after they have gone far into the work. How the programme runs will not be totally clear to you . The only time you will understand how the programme runs is when you come for clearance. That may be after so many years. PG school claims that things has improved not until you enter and find out for yourself. Three things are involved, it is either you are lucky, partially lucky or completely unlucky. If you are lucky, you graduate in time, maybe within two years. If you are partially lucky, you will gratute no matter how long it takes. If you are unlucky, you get frustrated and drop out. The longer you stay, the more school fees you pay. The longer you stay, the more frustrated you become. The way PG is ran in Unizik is bad but if you try another school, it may be WORST. I encourage you to go to unizik but make up your mind to accept whatever you see. |

PG is a different ball game altogether... During my days in Unizik I got to understand that other than the regular undergraduate programme of federal universities, FG don't send subvention. So universities are forced to use IGR to run programmes outside the regular undergraduate, hence the incessant, unwarranted and bogus money PG students are extorted. In Unizik they used the "extorted" money to eat lunch. I remember when I was doing my clearance, once its break time you will junior works, who I assume are mostly corpers, taking food from the secretary's office to serve the other staff. I don't know if they are still doing that. No meaningful thing they will use the money to achieve. No equipped PG lab or library, just wasting money on frivolities... mtchewww |

The only genuine disadvantage is Obagoblog: 5. The Npower scheme is not a permanent one but for just a period of two years. The hustle for a good, secure and paying job will definitely continue for some youths after passing through the scheme. |

Education › Re: The Peanut College Of Education, Zing, Taraba State Pays Its Lecturers by iHart(m): 9:52pm On Jun 18, 2017 |
ayenitre: Your idea of an 'idea' is to subject students to extortion or pay for play. Your concept of poverty is warped. Wealth creation is about value creation in a sustainable and legal way. Anything that deviates from this is financial crime. Mind you, all over the world, lecturers (or professors) are not known for being rich, they're upper middle class at best. Pretty sure OP will be content with salary after completing the transition from ad hoc staff to permanent position. First, asking students to pay for handout is not extortion. Didn't you use textbooks in secondary? Is it because they were not written by your secondary teachers, so you don't see that one as extortion? wealth creation is about value creation in a sustainable and legal way, yes I agree. Now tell me how that school is creating wealth with 10k peanut for ad hoc staff? How is that sustainable when the school can't employ permanent staff? Tell me, is that legal? |
Education › Re: The Peanut College Of Education, Zing, Taraba State Pays Its Lecturers by iHart(m): 3:27pm On Jun 18, 2017 |
gsalvatore: Have you been to Taraba? I could say No. We are talking of people that cant even buy good antibiotics to stay alive...are they the people that will patronize sorting and handouts even if its legalised in the school?
Almost everything there is poor(financially and mentally). Standard of living there is scary, money is not really In circulation...the dude is a lecturer I guess...is students cant pay for sorting, dey never even afford rope take hang themselves na to come bribe you... best way around it is to disappear from there... There is something else he can do to earn more money, simple! |
Education › Re: The Peanut College Of Education, Zing, Taraba State Pays Its Lecturers by iHart(m): 10:38am On Jun 18, 2017 |
gsalvatore: You think Taraba is Imo? Get to Taraba you will know that eastern lecturers will prefer to resign. you can't even subject a well read Igbo man to that peanut and he won't find a way around it,. Resigning is the best thing that will happen to anybody facing this work condition. Even those who sell fruits in that school will be making more than 10k. OP is poor in idea, and thats the worse form of poverty. |

Education › Re: The Peanut College Of Education, Zing, Taraba State Pays Its Lecturers by iHart(m): 9:26pm On Jun 17, 2017 |
I think you are not innovative. With over 150 students, no matter the work load, lecturers here in the east can go without salary and still live large. Maybe you need to come for an internship at IMSU. ...only handout can change your story. |
