There is place they crush palm kernel around Oji river. When you get to Oji through old road, ask and you will get direction but what I don't know is if they sell anything less than a drum...

Yah thank you very much Bro, but I've been to Ehi road at Aba behind ckc as you describe but the price I got there was not encouraging, 250/4lits that's the same price I get on the street of pH. only #10 difference if am buying like 1k quantity, but I believe a company will do cheaper if am doing the same quantity or more. meanwhile its going to be a long term deal for like 50yrs contract and they gonna produce 150ml, 300ml, 500ml, 1lit and 3lits all in thousands.

then you don't need to go far. there in PH, look for a big bottle water producing firm. most of then blow their own PET,... Get in contact with them and strike a deal. one bottle water factory in my village does that as side business, so I believe those in town will be glad to do it as well. Or look for a pharmaceutical firm around, mount surveillance and wait to catch companies supplying PET to them... Or take out time and visit osisioma in Aba, there are many plastic companies there. Ask questions, move around and trek well well, get contacts... If you need a special design, you will have to arrange a mold...

Enter Aba, find your way to school road behind CKC, aba. You will see a lot of plastic dealers, then make your choice. At this stage of your business no company will be able to make customised container for you. or rather you may not have the financial strength to make a "minimum order". Good luck

The type of oil you used may be the reason why your soap melt quickly or doesn't last long. No matter how long your soap cures or drys, a soap made with PKO will finish before a soap made with PO if both are subjected to the same condition of usage. PKO gives a soft soap that lathers well, PO gives a hard soap that doesn't lather well. If you blend the two oil, you get a soap that is hard, last longer and as well lathers well. If bleaching PO becomes a problem, then add "something" in your PKO formulation to harden your soap.

from my research, its called cold process soaping too... Because the soap is not heated and forced through the gell phase.

Hot caustic isn't cold process. The temperature of the system when using hot caustic is far higher than that of the cold process, so i term it hot process.

heat is involved in hot process, you either heat up your oil to a certain temperature before adding your cooled caustic solution or you use hot caustic without heating the oil. In using hot caustic, you don't necessarily have to heat the caustic solution. when you dissolve caustic in water it undergoes an exothermic process releasing heat, thus the solution becomes hot enough to be used in hot process...

seriously, I want in, and I want to be part of this cottage industrial revolution in Nigeria. but I have a lay man's question. cos I have never made a soap or anything like it before. I believe I will receive a candid response.

1. Can someone make soap with groundnut oil, instead of palm kernel oil?

2. If yes, which one is cheaper?

Palm kernel oil is cheaper na. And more so you don't just consider the cost of oil in soap making, you also consider the properties the soap will have when you use the oil. Groundnut oil is likely going to give you a soft soap that doesn't cleanse well...

To be efficient, you must use a slow speed diesel engine. I have seen a 3 cylinder British engine that uses a liter per hour.

It's not really about the type of engine but the capacity and the load it needs to carry. For example, a 30KVA generator working in full load will take nothing less than 5litres of diesel in one hour, no matter the type of engine that drives it... To be efficient and reduce cost, you need to synchronise all your production processes...

I don't think anything is wrong with your formulation and method, though small scale producers rarely care to look at quality parameter of their product. But your major problem might be capital. It seems you are buying your raw materials from retail shop.

I have passion for manufacturing of goods and recently i decided to engage in laundry bar soap production to be sold in my locality, though I have d knowledge of producing d soap but my greatest challenge is dt after production I don't recover back even the money I invested let alone to speak of profit, for instance d formulation I used are as followed 3L of pko, 1.5L of caustic soda 0.6 of sodium sulphate, color, perfume. Pls anyone wt perfect formula better than my or can offer anything useful to d success of ds soap production should pls help a brother to earn a legitimate leaving.

hahahahaha at the bolded. What people don't know about soap production is that there is
i. Product rejection mainly due to consumer poverty. This is assumng the quality is good.
ii. Product pricing is primarily driven by market and not your cost of production.
iii. Buying raw material at retail don't offer profit .
iv.there is a lot of "tweaking"to break even...
It isn't as easy and simple as it seems

Ok, but i feel that will be slow. For me, I will prefer to pour everything once to save time as the delay in pouring them one at a time can lead to the soap congealing and not setting very well in later molds. Well, its good.
