If that number of people were killed in Europe or elsewhere our leaders, including the ibi-bearing Bubu would be falling on themselves for an opportunity to commiserate with the affected country. But unfortunately here we are; nobody gives a hoot if we all die!

Three years that looked like eternity. I was promised pay rise after 6 months probation. But that didn't come. I applied elsewhere and was asked to resume, which I did. On the day that I resumed, my former boss called me around 9.00am threatening to give me a query for late coming. I then told him in the most courteous way that I have resumed in my new office.

Of course the honourable short minister is right; he cannot collapse and still be in Nigeria. He must be hanging in space until he is resuscitated.

Comparing the salaries of sanitary workers to their colleagues in US and elsewhere is missing the point. The fact is that by Nigerian standards, any sanitary worker (or cleaner) who earns that much (N300k+) needs to be investigated. Some doctors and other highly trained personnel in Nigeria don't earn that much. So please leave USA and others out of this.

Nigerians should not just protest online, because if don't physically show our strong resentment of this unpopular policy the government will not take us seriously. What I actually advocate is PEACEFUL PROTEST. #IfYouCantGiveMeYour5kLeaveMy50Naira.

OohLalah:

cheesy cheesy cheesy I can only lmao hard at this. Nigeria proud themselves of being the most intelligent country in Africa but are unable to comprehend a simple article?

This is the craziest thing ever!

Now, if anyone has read the article thoroughly its :

1) A report on what citizens perceive

2) It shows the intolerance of corruption by South Africa as being at most high than fellow Africans ( Which is a great thing)

3) No actual audit of corruption cases were done but citizens were surveyed to give opinion

What this article mean is:

1) More South Africans are vigilant and not complacent about corruption than their African counterparts

2) If you look at the most stated corruption case by South Africans its the Nkandla-gate which is $20 million vs Nigeria's latest Army gate @ $2.1 billion dollars.

Nigerians should more angrier but maybe have gotten used to corruption than their South African counterparts.

3) Imagine $2 Billion being lost to corruption in SA, their citizens would lynch their government reps while Nigeria's are sympathetic to theirs.

Conclussion : The article as an opinion of citizens about corruption and a barometer of corruption tolerance. FULL STOP!

P/S : NIGERIANS VERY QUICK TO CELEBRATE RUBBISH! THAT IS THE SAD PART OF THIS THREAD! undecided

Aunty, if I ever need an English teacher it's definitely not you! When you have corrected the highlighted part of your comment (there are so many others), then you can quote me again.

South Africa Knocks Nigeria off its Perch as “Most Corrupt” African Country

South Africa is now believed to be the most corrupt country on the continent, according to a new survey.

By Alexis Haden
The latest report by Transparency International sees South Africa top the list of countries where citizens believe the problem has got worse in the last year.

Over 80% of South Africans who were interviewed thought that corruption had increased over the last year. Ghana and Nigeria are some of the other worst-affected nations.

79% of South Africans surveyed also believe that not enough is being done to curb corruption. On the continent‚ the majority of Africans (58%) say that corruption has increased over the past year.

If there is one shining light to the survey it’s that 56% of South Africans surveyed believe that ordinary people can make a difference in the fight against corruption.

The survey found that 25% of respondents in SA believe that the most effective way for ordinary citizens to combat corruption is by reporting their experiences‚ followed by a further 22% who identified the refusal to pay bribes as an effective means to fight corruption.

With 43‚143 respondents, across 28 countries surveyed, people feel the police, business executives, government officials and the courts were all perceived as corrupt, with 75 million people estimated to have paid a bribe in the past year, AFP reports.

Between JZ pouring money into his Nkandla digs, Prasa’s dodgy trainsand countless of other scandals, South Africans aren’t exactly stoked about the state of affairs.

“People are outraged, they see this huge spending as part of government corruption,” David Lewis, director of Corruption Watch, a local anti-graft organisation, told AFP.

“Corruption creates and increases poverty and exclusion,” Transparency International head Jose Ugaz said in a statement.

The research shows that corruption has increased in South Africa as well as in Ghana and Nigeria. There is no place in the article where it is stated that Nigeria is now less corrupt.

Dear Seun Osewa,
I have noticed with dismay that the frontpage
of this great forum has been hijacked by
terrorists. Yes terrorist! Because I fail to
understand why any sane individual would
embark on an aggressive per second update
of the homepage.
The frontpage of this forum used to be
revered and topics worth their salt.
Today it has totally gone to the dogs. If you're
not convinced of this assertion, why not take
a stroll down some of those topics on FP,
you'll discover that the pages hardly go
beyond page 3. This is opposed to when as a
rule FP threads had a minimum of 20 solid
pages filled with quality and incisive
discourse.
Now go take a look at what's happening to
those threads your 'boys' put out there, its a
real mess. I just dey shake my head
throughout today. I no fit read any of those
topics.
I expect you to solve some of the nagging
problems we've been experiencing such as
those posed by the Space Bookers Association
of Nairaland otherwise known as Nairaland.
But all you've done in effect is help spread
their ministry.
In closing I want to urge you to as a matter of
urgency revert to the old system where
threads where allowed to mature at the
section level before been pushed forward to
the homepage. This will amongst other things
help to;
1) Cut drastically the activities of Nairaland
members as pages would have progressed
way beyond page 1 and its direction of
discourse already clearly established. This na
serious check against Nairaland members
who are not interested in discourse of any
sort.
2) Modelling the direction as well as
improving the content of thread discourse.
3) Ultimately keeping your premium
members who are very highly placed people
of corporate Nigeria but who still find time to
drop in on your little web due the quality of
some posters submissions.
I know say you dey find money as evidenced
by your recent search for a paid supermod,
but please don't sacrifice content for some
mediocre gain that won't even last.
Cheers bro.
Nothing can be farther from the truth. This post in itself deserves front page!
