Don't really understand why Non Igbos wouldn't leave Igbos alone.
What is this delta igbo and south east igbo nonesense going on in this thread? Always trying to cause division amongst Igbo people.
An Igbo name is an Igbo name irrespective of geographical location, besides Nwaeze is a FULL igbo name, period!

This is about a wedding in Lagos,i don't know how these demons, foools, tribalists and illiterate manage to turn everything into Igbo vs Yoruba war.

They are men from different ethnic groups that have come to support and celebrate their friend on his special day.
To the best of my knowledge, Noble Igwe and Ebuka Uche Obi are not Yorubas, don't let the asoebi deceive you.

it's possible.
Supremacist statements like Nri civilized a group of people and pygmies make Black Africans look stupidd and ignorant. Which people did Nri civilize and what does Nri have that others do not have.
The only fact here is that people were already settled in Igboland before Nri migrated into that area and probably displaced a group of people.
It's unfortunate that West Africans couldn't sit down to develop a written language and document their original history.
Igbo people are just a group of people with a distinct identity that probably birthed other people.

I know some Yoruba girls at my university who are light without bleaching.. so I guess that stereotype is smashed.
Nothing has been smashed. Even Yorubas will tell you that Igbos tend to come in lighter skin and eye colour. It doesn't mean there are no light skin yorubas.
If you are assumed to be Igbo then there are features you exhibit which is commonly associated with Igbos.
The problem is that you are obsessed with Igbos and their light skin. This is probably the 1000th time you are discussing igbo features and skin tone. That you saw some light skin yoruba girls doesn't mean anything. Apart from some Northern Nigerian groups, people in the East/south are more or less known to exhibit interesting physical features.

lol, what a load of bullshit....
Until you explain to the world the difference between these fair skinned, hairy, strong and light eyed igbos:

And these very dark, short, bootylicious Yoruba people:

Then you are only demonstrating your stewpidity to the world.
If a non Igbo had answered this question you would have replied differently without throwing insults on that individual.
I don't seem to understand the unnecessary resentment of Igbo people on nairaland. Instead of addressing the Ops questions, you decided to unleash personal attacks on her.
It will be ridiculous if we pretend not to notice the obvious physical differences amongst Nigerian ethnic groups. Whether they come off as steroetypes of not,it is interesting to note that people associate certain physical characteristics with different ethnic groups.
In the East,a very Curvy and Plump woman is said to be like Yoruba/Calabar women irrespective of her ethnic group. A very tall lanky guy is said to look like Fulani people. If you are looking for a girl for a fulani part in a movie,we all know the type of features that will be looked out for. When you meet a Nigerian with green eyes or so,there are higher chances that the individual is Igbo.
More often than not, Keke and Motor cycle operators from Akwa/Calabar region that reside in the East have a rather short stature. Igbos, Niger Deltans and certain groups from the north are mostly associated with light skin and coloured eyes and we can't pretend we don't notice that. Even in West Africa, Ghanaians are known to darker and buffer than Nigerians,it doesn't mean there are no natural light skin Ghanaians These things are visible to the naked eyes.

We may call this stereotypes put there are elements of truth which may not be applicable in all situations.
This 2016,make a resolution to attack the issue at hand not the individual. Calling people stewpid doesn't make you intelligent.
Those random pictures doesn't make sense. I expected clear pictures of popular igbo and yoruba figures for proper comparison. Even Nollywood igbo, Hausa and Yoruba would show you that we manifest different features. wink

We have told the rest of of you that we don't trace or acknowledge Nri in our ancestral records and that should be respected. It's my earnest desire that we dump these divisive assertions and channel our energy into threads that will uplift our ethnic group this New year.

All black Africans including Yoruba and Fulani are struggling to be part of the Egyptian civilization through a reference to the Neanderthal dna in their genetics, lol.
If you really want us to make researches, you will find numerous connection between Egyptians and all regions of Africa. But to instigate an exclusive connection between your group and Egypt is a No No.
When you say all humans have non human genes, which dna are you referring to?
Apart from Neanderthal and Denisovan, which other Non Human dna exist in Africa?

The predominant YDNA haplogroup of all Niger Congo groups is E, and predominantly the subclade E1b1b.

It is preset in some sample African poplations in the following ratios

Bantoid Cameroon: 93.3%
Bamileke: 100%
Ghana: 92.3%
Mandinka: 79%
Igbo: 90.0%
Bantu (Gabon): 80.0%

Fon (Benin): 95.0%
Nande (DRC Bantu): 100%

We don't care about Bantu slaves or whatever trashy bantu contribution. Slavery is Evil,it is never an achievement. You should really be ashamed of yourself.
The most important thing is that African Americans don't create any divisions or associate with any bantu complex. They identify as African Americans only. For your information, Blair Underwood is Igbo via ''Paternal ancestry'' and a whole number of the people you posted their pictures have a combination of other African genes in them. Slave Lover!

The Bantu post and pictures are not important or beneficial to Nigerians/West Africans. You keep struggling to be part of a Slavery record. Isn't that ridiculous and extremely preposterous?
Anyway, Bantu and their origins/relationship with West Africa is a common knowledge in the intellectual world. Everyother argument happening here is just a waste of time and energy.
Your post and pictures are very inconsequential and irrelevant among experts in this field! :DToo bad!

I,just like other Africans in diaspora don't care about any Bantu slaves that were sent to Brazil or Jamaica. It's only a backward African that will boost of sending more slaves across the Atlantic. Something as Evil and Inhumane as African slavery is not something to be proud of. It has already happened and those guys have moved on to embrace their African identity irrespective of any Bantu majority trash you are trying to instigate.
The Last time i checked, non of them were even proud or spoke of bantu, they don't care about your existence.
They just identify as African American and move on.
Keep your Bantu trash to yourself, bantu is not a race!

What is west African ? You call alanwemne dumb, yet you are trying to compare a linguistic group according to you and a geographical region ? Does that make sense to you ? What do bamtu share with Mauritanian or Gambian ? Who are in west Africa ? The answer is nothing . I'm q firm believer that Igbo are bantu, but this your Wes af -Bantu connection is nonsense and baseless. Igbo are isolated bantu group in west Africa(which is even subjective) . and like alanmwen said you can't compare Bantu with Igbo , you will only make a fool of yourselves .
When you understand the clear and unbiased meaning of the word 'Bantu',you will understand that Igbo,Yoruba etc are not Bantus. Bantu is only a Linguistic unit of the larger Niger Congo group.

I don't buy the dutch account and then again the adaption is not particular to south Africa , anyone in botswana can have the same features as anyone in south Africa without having ever setted foot in SA . by that I simply mean him sseing Bantu entering in SA (modern or not?) does not negate my point don't forget we were talking about Botswana, and the same setup exist all over southern Africa (from Zambia to south Africa)
After all said and done, Bantu is still and will keep being a Subgroup of the Niger Congo linguistic family of West Africa. It's not a race or ethnic group.
Take it or find your way out of this thread.
