Your case indeed get K.leg.

Keep hammering the same sermon.

If you case isn't inferiority complex then it diff psychological.
I understand that this is an Igbo bashing thread,so you can away with any sort of ethnic baiting.
I would pit these two different lifestyles against one another.
It's not a serious issue. Do yours and let Igbos do theirs.

Every tribe has it uniqueness, strength an weakness, and with great personalities and wealth. So spare us the chest beating sermon.

If you consider it a sermon then what's the essence of responding to it? Nairaland is an open forum,
i saw an interesting post and decided to post my opinion which is insightful and not intended to cause division or elicit unintelligent replies from folks like you!
There is no inferiority complex in explaining why Igbos take to spraying money at parties as against Yoruba's love for food. They are two different lifestyles which shouldn't be pitted against each other.
Take your childish remarks elsewhere! Some of you respond foolishly to people's comments!

Basically,Igbos are self sufficient and sensitive people who believe in showcasing achievements and greatness to the world, consequently same traits are also applied in ceremonies and events. The average Igbo man attending a party does act like a glutton because he believes his own food is sufficient for him and he knows that swallowing every food available at the party is a dent on his honour and prestige.
Actually, igbos are not hungry people looking for where to eat download food. On the contrary,we believe in blessing the celebrants with enamorous Gifts and Cash. Ceremony in Igboland is an opportunity to gather your friends and have them show solidarity for you.
The cash and gifts symbolize that you have people who have achieved enough not to be stingy with their wealth.
The cash and money realized at the end of the day will be used to offset expenses, which will go a long way in preventing abject poverty.
It's unfortunate that some people that i would'lt mention see it as showoff and boring . It's our lifestyle and we are proud of it.
Only guttons go to party to eat everything on the menu!

Family / Re: Why Do Nigerian Ladies Grow Out Of Shape When Married? by Ihuomadinihu: 6:26am On Jun 29, 2016
It's really frustrating how men bash and body shame women irrespective of their size. Men are never satisfied. If you are slim, they complain. If you are plump, they equally complain. Slim ladies are usually the targets most of the time. Men complain they look unwomanly which has led them to go after padded bras and pants or painful plastic surgery.
Some of them even take dangerous concotions just to add weight!
While the plump ones like tools are strangulating themselves with Body shapers, Girdles and Corsets just to please men!
This is just an excuse to cheat. An unfaithfulman will cheat on you irrespective of your beauty and body size.
Ladies, just do you! Be comfortable in your body irrespective of size and shape. Too hell with their useless complaints!!

There are many indians in Nigeria, some of them are even criminals yet Nigerians and Africans never molest them. I keep asking God if he hates the black race, why do people insist on treating Blacks in this manner irrespective of the situation.
Nothing suggest that the woman was truly violent. They just hate the Black skin period!

No doubt Indians are very racist and aggressive to black people.
If a White woman was in the same situation would they do same to her? The answer is No! They love the white skin, they would simply beg and apologize to her. Blacks are seen as adivasis -sub human.
It's poverty caused by years of poor and reckless Nigerian governance that drive people to this shitty racist country.

Culture / Re: Is Arochukwu The Origin Of The Igbos? by Ihuomadinihu: 4:14pm On Jun 26, 2016
There is nothing i wouldn't see on nairaland. Aro the origin of igbos? That is ludicrous!
No Aro man living on the face of the earth claim that aro is the origin of Igbos. It appears you have no knowledge of your history.
Aros are a complex heterogenous group that pushed away the original occupants of the present arochukwu.
The original settlers of Arochukwu and the Cross river basin were the Losi,Nchai,Nchalagha,Iwerri and Ohaodu people that operated the cave complex(oracle) which was later changed to Ibit Ukpabi when Ibibios migrated into Arochukwu. Therefore,if you carbon date the caves,it will go back to when the Losi and other aforementioned groups were the original occupants of arochukwu.
Shortly before or after Ibibios settled,a few igbo groups also came from other places and they existed side by side until conflict arose and igbo forces and Ibibios fought each other.
The igbo elements engaged the services of Akpa warriors from the cross river basin,it's important to note that the Akpa people are linked to several benue valley people. Some historians believe they were igalas, others believe they came from Akamkpa in Cross river state.
With the help of Akpa warriors,Ibibios were defeated and Aro dynasty was established in the 17th century. Slavery trade had already started and aros capitalized on the popularity of the Ibini Ukpabi oracle which they called Chukwu to catch slaves for the white men.
Subsequently, arochukwu became populated and the wealthy business men needed to migrate and continue their nefarious trade.
So they migrated and set up outpost, slave markets and settlements. Some of the settlements were set up diplomatically, the rest were gotten from invasions or gifts from communities that hired their services for they were warloads and militants(ohafia and abam).
When the Europeans banned slavery, the aros kicked against it because they benefitted immensely from slave trade. So they threatned the white men and took their markets into the hinterlands where they continued their activities. Long and short of it, the Europeans got them and squashed their business.

They didn't fight because they hated the whitemen, they only fought because the white men was against their lucrative slave trade. There are other major uprising against the Europeans like the Ekumeku war. You should read up and stop making up illogical ideas.

Secondly, the Nris are not the origin of Igbos. When the Nris arrived Igboland they met igbo groups that were already settled in igboland. Most of what they claim to do in igboland was bequeated to them by the aboriginals.
I think the current trend for some igbo groups that had a sort of influence is to claim to be the origin of igbos. How conceited!
The origin of Igbos have not been established, many historians believe they are a Niger Benue confluence group that migrated down in bands/groups.

Just a point of correction, African diaspora tends to allign herself with Yoruba religion because it survived outside Africa but tends to key into the Eastern Culture or way of life. A lot of them see some facial and physical resemblance in Igbo people and assume their ancestors were igbos.
I've seen some of them get genetic test just to see if they share dna with Igbos.

Religion / Re: Osun CAN Orders Christian Students To Attend Classes In Church Robe by Ihuomadinihu: 11:29am On Jun 10, 2016
Ignorance is a huge problem in Africa!
It's unfortunate that people don't understand that wearing of veils,Hijab,Niqab and burqa stems from an oppressive and patriarchal society that saw women as low class citizens. Various cultures in the Middle East have insensitive laws for women and sort for ways to subjugate them. Along the line, veils and head covers were introduced and they have been inexistence long before the rise of Judaism,Christianity and Islam. These religions also borrowed this cultural practises and fused them into their doctrines which they evangelized across the world.
Why should we let Middle eastern culture or Western culture take so much relevance amongst us to the point of causing strife?
Hijabs,Choir robes and veils do not belong to this part of the world or public class rooms, they should be left as religious symbols for religious environments!
Sometimes,it's better to study your Bible and Quran alongside Historical perspectives, cultural and linguistic context,it's not everything your master teach you that has relevance to your region!

People in the East are generally happy and peaceful people.
Most of our state capitals are epic center of peace and happiness.
1. Enugu takes the number one spot for me. Well structured, good transportation system, warm and friendly residents-everyone is eager to help you, good sewage system, schools, market, churches at strategic position, low cost of living etc. If you want to raise kids with ease, that's the best place for that.
2. Owerri - Ebe Ana Ekpori Ndu. Omg! If you've made money, that the best place to spend it and people come from all sorts of places to spend their weekends and money in Owerri.
Assorted joints, shops, supermarkets, resturants, hotels, schools, active night life, churches, banks, good social amenities, finest Girls in Nigeria lol etc.
That's the hospitality city of the East and Nigeria to an extent, residents are cool, receptive ,peaceful and always ready to have fun.
Rochas is trying to spoil the happiness, but he wouldn't succeed.

3. Umuahia is also calm but not as fun and happy as Enugu and Owerri.

I know this for a fact because I 've a book on the three major Nigerian Languages and a book on Edo Language and was able to compare. Verify this claim thank you.
We are saying the same thing na. All Southern groups come from the same Linguistic family but they have different cultures. The interesting part is that when you study these cultures, you will see some sort of similarity amongst them.

So you're saying that Mercy Aigbe doesn't promote her Edo culture? Are you blind? Didn't you see the movie Osas? And also, look at Viktoh of YBNL and Blixxy D Raping from Uromi. Both of those guys have put Esan on the map with their indigenous rapping so to say that Edo entertainers don't embrace their Edo identity is hilarious to me. The biggest Edo movie director Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen has put Edo culture out there for the world to see with Invasion 1897 and Iyore. And oh, your Igbo Nollywood queen Rita Dominic was in Iyore too, should I say that she appropriated Benin/Edo culture? Like I said, go to pro-Igbo threads and get off Edo people's jock.
What's Osas? Is that a name or a movie? How many Nigerians know any movie titled Osas?
Fact is that you are not doing enough to promote your culture. Viktor might be an exception but that doesn't change the fact that Edo celebs actively promote either Igbo or Yoruba culture.
Rita acted a Nollywood movie inspired by Edo history, she didn't act an Edo language movie. That is the difference.wink
Lancelot has been shooting Igbo related movies since 19keredim.

Must you make this thread about Igbo? It's the Igbo's that rep other culture and maybe because it was a Nollywood Igbo's producer that influence them. Sam loco speak a lot of different languages and he was pro one Nigeria. You guys are annoying and some Igbo's speak Yoruba or anywhere they stay and they learn their host languages. Edo's dont hardly speak anything Igbo.
A lot or should i say 80percent of Igbo celebs that grew up outside igboland speak Hausa,Yoruba or some other language. But how do they manage to still retain their identity even after acting a yoruba movie or singing a yoruba song?
Because they know it is showbiz, after that they quickly drop yoruba and revert back to their Igbo culture.
A lot of Igbo celebs act Yoruba movies or sing yoruba lyrics like Psquare,Mike Ezuruonye, Zack Orji etc. That doesn't stop them from going all out to promote their culture. The fact is that your celebs have carried and promoted other cultures in such a way that people don't know they come from Edo.

That is an observation and it should be a cause for concern, look inwards and identify why these celebs lose their identity while promoting other cultures. There is nothing wrong with reping other cultures but learn from the Yorubas,Igbos,Hausas and Cross riverian groups.

You're very funny. Just because Edo actors and actresses act in Igbo and Yoruba films doesn't mean that they're completely assimilating into those cultures. For example, Mercy Aigbe still acknowledges that she's a Benin girl, as shown by the film Osas. Also, Charles Inojie and other Edo actors know where they come from as well, in fact they do all they can to mentor Edo actors and make the Edo film industry grow. There's this Esan-English film titled Elomo and it features a couple Igbo actresses, should I sit there and say that those Igbo actresses are repping Esan culture? If anything, you should actually be grateful that they embrace your damn culture and language. What it shows is that Edo people are tolerant and open to embracing other cultures.
How is it my business if your celebs rep other people's culture?
A while ago, many people thought that Sam Loco,Toyin and Mercy Aigbe were either Yoruba or Igbo because they 'Carry these cultures on their head as if they own it''
This is an observation that you should reflect on,it's not an avenue for you to diss me or my culture, you don't know me anyway.
But this is an avenue to let you know that your celebs rep other culture at the detriment of their own maybe because they have to yield to the dominating cultures and groups in Nigeria.
You should be more concerned that folks like Mercy and Toyin is more Yoruba than Edo and Sam Loco was more Igbo than Edo.
It doesn't show that they embrace anything,it only shows they are not doing enough to promote your culture.
When Igbo artist start reping yoruba or hausa profusely,we call them to order and ask them to rep more igbo for prosterity sake.
You should do same instead of looking for who to insult.
