raumdeuter: People in the real world multi task and achieve things which is a strange concept to you and why you have always been inferior. Elon, Trump etc all spend considerable time on the internet everyday on SM and they are doing good You are useless everywhere and in everything you touch. No wonder your mates have kids in college and you still talk about imaginary GF like an incel You claim you were an entrepreneur with a fledgling business, a full time job and a family. You claim your business had minimal employees such that you were unclogging toilets yourself. And in the midst of all this you invested 4 hours a day not into this fledgling business but into sexualizing teenagers on Nairaland? If you think multitasking while starting a business while holding a full time job means spending hours on Nairaland it's no reason your business failed. CEO's have a cadre of people to help run their business, from personal and professional admin staff, to in the case of Elon other leaders who run their various ventures. And in the case of Elon and Trump, the time they spent on Social Media helped their business. Elon used it to manipulate people to vote Trump and increase his wealth, Trump used it as well to manipulate people to win the Presidency and hack his wares. What did your time on Nairaland do, except lead to your failed business? You don't seem to have learned much from your experience. And, I'm not sure who you write these posts for.. well outside of Bemeruca. They are brazenly ridiculous and leading people astray. If you are starting a new venture, dedicate your energy into it.. Gerrard59: What these studies don't explain is that there is no DELIBERATE attempt by employers to pay women less than women, but women making their choices which result in lower pay than men. It is not a gender issue as lesbians outearn married women. Calling me a misogynist would not change anything. In the most gender friendly countries, the pay gap exists not because of gender differences, but choices. If lesbians can outearn married women, that is not a gender issue.
The gender pay gap does not exist = misogyny. And one wonders why they lose elections woefully. The studies contradict you. However, roughly 70% cannot be attributed to measurable differences between workers. At least some of this unexplained portion of the wage gap is the result of discrimination, which is difficult to fully capture in a statistical model. https://www.dol.gov/sites/dolgov/files/WB/equalpay/WB_issuebrief-undstg-wage-gap-v1.pdf As I said, you seem incapable of filtering facts through your misogyny so much so that you keep deliberately mischaracterizing studies and facts. |

You are not more liberal than the Economist Magazine or BBC. I am suspicious of black people who claim to be liberal as black people are generally conservative in every part of the world.
The gender pay does not exist. Period! Facts don't have to care about your lovey-dovey feelings! If the pay gap exists, employ ONLY women and pay them big big money. BLord in Nigeria does it. Gerrard59: No one has barred women, but women themselves chose not to work in the rig in the middle of nowhere. I stated that policymakers in Nordic countries were stunned to realise that their women INTENTIONALLY declined to work in industries that have tougher conditions, harsher weather situations but have higher salaries. Are you saying women don't have the free will to make the right decisions for themselves? We have fewer women choosing to study physics or mathematics, so how would companies suddenly employ women enmass when the pipeline isn't abundant with women? Do companies have to forge women out of thin air just to fulfil gender parity policies?
No company pays less to anyone who decides to work in the middle of nowhere. However, someone who goes on more leaves per year and works fewer hours would most likely be paid less than a colleague who takes fewer or no leaves per annum and works longer hours. That is basic capitalism. If women are paid less than men to work in rigs, why are companies not employing only women? Wouldn't this reduce their labour costs? Why would a profit-oriented company miss the golden opportunity to reduce costs in a bid to increase profits?
The gender pay gap does not exist. It is a terrible and disgusting lie that has gone too far. Expectedly, it does not get traction on Twitter any longer. So why are educated Nairalanders peddling this lie in big 2024?

lebete3000: And how would she make you feel better if not by checking her phone? If you have to check her phone the relationship is probably irrevocably broken. But, if you have a valid concern, she should communicate about the nature of the relationship and she should choose to put up better boundaries between her and the person. I believe it's hard to maintain man/female non romantic/sexual relationships without clear/strict boundaries. So, when I'm in a relationship I put up those boundaries and expect my partner to as well. That includes making sure she's comfortable with my female friends, so I expect the same. |

Magnoliaa: And I have exhaustively belaboured the fact that nobody is being unaffected.
So your "disagreement" is moot.
Believing in Yahweh or Sango is unlike believing a man can become a woman and expecting everybody to go along with it. So it's not "eh". It has real life implications.
I am a Christian myself, but even I know that if I go and jump off a 20-strorey building, I will die.
Gravity is a natural law just as biological immutability is.
These are things that makes the society ordered and stable, to a large part. No matter the extent post-structural and -modernist and constructionist and transhumanist theories go, they will never replace natural precepts and laws and society, or least in an harmonious way. You seem to be unpurposefully or purposefully conflating multiple things. If I jump off a 20 story building, the consequence is I will die. What is the consequence to me or society if I choose to say I am a woman? And honestly, I feel some of these arguments were used back in the days to justify racism and sexism. Especially the ordered and stabled society argument. Magnoliaa: How do you see the compulsion of using preferred pronouns as wrong, but "living as the opposite sex" as OK when gendered pronouns exists for the purpose of sex differentiation? Let me delineate the argument again for you. I believe there are primarily two sexes. I do not believe in preferred pronouns and don't believe anyone should be forced into using them. I don't care what you call yourself or how you live your in your personal life. Dress up as a cow for all I care. I care only in so far it affects me, forces me into using prefered pronouns, etc. I think that's part of the liberty the US was founded on. I feel you are making me defend Trans and I'm not a proponent. I just think we have to be careful in dictating how people choose to live their lives. |

Magnoliaa: So everything I said just flew over head. Got it.
The lesbian app founder who is being sued in Australia for discrimination is of no consequence. As well as the women who are leaving lesbian-dating apps in droves.
The women who have been sexually assaulted and physically attacked by TRAs is also of no significance.
The 800+ medals that have been lost to trans athletes in women's sport is also a very minute number.
The trans care ban case that was heard in the SCOTUS some days ago is not relevant.
The people who have been fired from their jobs or doxxed for stating gender critical views... who cares?
It doesn't matter if it's just one or two women it's affecting, so long as it doesn't affect you. Very manly of you so I'm not surprised.
That wasn't my point.
If a man can become a woman, and a woman can become a man, then homosexuality, and even heterosexuality, as sexual orientations become 'fluid.' This is another part of the issue to me, not merely numbers.
If you cannot understand the fact that the redefinition of sex into making an allowance for gender identity is concerning to everyone, I'm done interacting with you.
Like tf? Most social issues and commentaries rarely, occasionally apply to the general population but that doesn't mean talking about them is needless.
I- just have a good day. My overarching view is that people should be allowed to do whatever they want as long as it isn't affecting anyone else esp. with their own bodies. That's the reason I am pro-choice. Some of the issues you are discussing go beyond that and I'm not in favor of that. Esp. forcing people who don't disagree to adopt things like pronouns. I thought I was clear on that. But If a man wants to be a woman and then a man again or vice versa. eh... I do think setting an age requirement for sexual transitions is necessary. But then again the age requirement would have to be 16 because in some states they believe teenagers are mature enough to wed and have children. So why not own their own bodies? But, I'm not a woman and so won't argue what you fear as a woman. I was simply pointing out the statistics surrounding it. And fyi, you and I agree on large swaths of this. |

Odafe360: I've been married for 7 years and blessed with 3kids... Sometimes ago my wife confessed to me about the paternity of my first son that he is not my son, when she got pregnant while we were dating, she told the real Dad but he denied being responsible and she had no option than to pin it on me. I became shattered and down, infact my world nearly came to an end, i sent my wife out of the house but after about a month, i forgave her and took them back with the kids, infact I still love all my kids equally without remembering the paternity of my first child. We had a little issue some weeks ago and she threatened to leave the marriage by the end of the year, then i told her if she really wants to leave, she mustn't wait for the year to end..... Then two weeks ago she started packing her things gradually to her parents house (her father is late). She finally left yesterday and we even had sex a day before she left. The funny things is that she has packed every of her belongings, leaving nothing at all.
Since she started packing her things back to her mum's place none of her siblings or her mum has called me or come to find out what the problem is, anytime we have issues and she goes back to her mum's place, nobody from her family will come to enquire what happened, i'll still be the one to go and pick them back home and apologize to the mum whether i'm at fault or not, i think that is what made them to view me as a fool, even when i discovered the paternity of the my first son, her mother never came to my place nor called, i was still the one who went to see her mum and we spoke then brought back my wife and kids home.
I work so hard to take care of her and my kids, i always make sure they lack nothing. People envy them because i invest so much on my kids...
Please guys, what do you think i should do? Should i just move on and forget about her because honestly this time around nothing would take me to their house. She called me yesterday that they've reached and i said okay, then she called me this morning that the children are asking when I'm coming to see them? You mentioned that you had a little issue weeks ago, yet don't describe it. From your telling, it caused your wife to say she wanted to leave the house. What was the issue? Perspective helps with advice. Also, when did you learn your 1st child wasn't yours? I ask because you spent a lot of the post describing that. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by IjeBos(m): 9:19pm On Dec 08, 2024 |
Magnoliaa: Yes, just like I've mentioned that it is only a fraction of men commiting the larger percentage of crimes. One violent, sexual pervert/suicide bomber/mass shooter can wreck a recoiling disaster.
A few trolls on NL have silenced or sent away many active women on here.
How do you ensure that women in vulnerable spaces like care homes, rape/homeless shelters, prisons, or anywhere that requires them to be naked are protected from any rando just waltzing in and getting catered to, just because he claims he's a woman?
Another point I made was also about the fact of -biology-. TWs would not be trans if they weren't (born) males. And I said all males, especially as strangers, pose a potential danger to most women (even if he's suppressing his T; especially when he has gone through puberty). This is not the same thing as saying that they are violent/dangerous in actuality. So I would not be less worried if a male-bodied person got close to my space in public, and smiled at me, all the while thinking himself a 'sis', just like me, in his head.
You may see it as a few violent transwomen, I see it as continuing male violence against women, but now under the protected status of "trans."
I do not dispute that women don't already face all forms of violence and discrimination from the general public, but 'self-IDing' will make it much more worse, because the regular perpetrators of such can do all claiming a marginalised status. And any crime against women will be treated on an individual basis, and not within the context of a structural issue.
And have you ever heard of the term "social contagion?"
The trans community might be a small percentage of people but the things they clamor for has implications for the larger percentage of people in society. The redefinition of languages and words and laws protecting sex-based rights. Medically transitioning children (treatments whose long-lasting effects have yet to be holistically documented), and even performing irreversible surgeries on some in some cases.
https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/usa-transyouth-data/
This link also shows you the spike in adolescents who identify as transgender. You can say the numbers are going up because there's an increasing level of societal acceptance for it, and a space for more people to explore their gender identities, but you will only be partly right. The numbers are increasing because there are kids who genuinely, erstwhile experienced dysphoria and are now coming out and there are kids being inundated with susceptible, subliminal messages of exploring their gender identities. It's a new 'cool'. Teenagers who should have grown up to be gays or lesbians now identify as the opposite sex... And then if a fully male-bodied person claims to be a woman, or to "feel like a female" on the inside, where does that leave people who are same-sex attracted? That is also the reason why homosexuality has now been redefined by them into "same-gender attraction." So two people with penìses in a relationship can call themselves lesbians, just because they identify as so, effectively reaffirming many misogynistic, straight men's belief that lesbians are just women who haven't "tasted" the right "dick."
Beyond the transwomen who commit extremely violent crimes, there are others who are casually misogynistic and assaulting to women.
www.terfisaslur.com
https://sex-matters.org/about-us/what-we-are-up-against/intimidation-threats-and-violence-by-trans-rights-activists/
See this post below. This is uncannily parallel to what men do to women. In all the time I've been on social media, I have never seen women going into the DMs of a man to harass and threatened him if he has 'jam-talked'. Everyone will drag him on their TLs and that's it. He's forgotten the next day. But whenever a woman goes viral for saying something wrong or posting a sexualized picture, men will take it beyond her comment section to her DMs.

Trans language also interferes with accurate crime reporting. Demands women address their rapists as a "she."

And so so many more.
So this is decidedly a different issue. This is about gender dysphoria, and it's a real one that is consequential to the trans community. The point of women having the right to say no to anyone who isn't woman is another.
My initial point has been on the older trans-identified males who suddenly think they are of a different gender, sex, at 36 or 56 y/o.
You'd outrightly be called a bigot for stating that this man, this goliath right in the picture below is a man. Mind you, it happened in Nigeria o. At a women-only event. So that I'm talking about this is not me engaging in 'Afghanistanism' or whatever.
But to address the very personal story you've shared- and I don't want to trivialize it in any way: that they've done everything they 'could' is not necessarily a failure on their part or on therapy... it is just the nature of mental illnesses. People who have suicidal ideations, and have even attempted suicide, still go on to want to try it again. For a number of reasons, and it is dysphoria in this case. It's a correlation/causation thing. 'Transitioning' might help relieve some, while not so much for others.
But most pro-trans people are treating these procedures as an holy grail, hammering on affirmation as the only way to help.
And mind you, gender dysphoria is a medical condition... but the whole conversation about transgenderism has been phrased as a "it's just who I am" or "how I was born" thing, as people who are just different from others... like is it all trans people who have gender dysphoria? Can someone be trans without having a mental health issue (dysphoria) or have transitioned? If yes, then what is the basis for their trans-ness? Being trans cannot at the same time be a matter of nature or innateness and a medical condition. Like nobody treat
If we want to talk about it as a medical condition, then maybe the prevailing conversation around it would have been different. There would also be no terms like "assigned male at birth." Pro-trans people would not be arguing about being born in the wrong body or that children as young as two can know they are trans.
And I noticed you mentioned sexuality. If this is about a gay kid who hates being one, I'm sorry but what those parents would be doing to him would be conversion therapy as transitioning. if you meant gender dysphoria...then okay. That's one issue with the movement too. Its proponents obscure language and update term at will that you're never able to keep up with exactly what they are talking about. Why does gender, which they claim is a social construct, needs to be "treated" through biological changes? If you've never lived as the opposite sex before, how do you ascertain that what you're feeling like is what it's like to be the opposite sex?
Wo, I have a lot to say on the matter and I feel like I've spoken too much. Let me just end here.
You can live as how want, but:
- Humans are a sexually dimorphic species - A man is an adult human male, and a woman vice versa, and it is impossible for one to become the other.
These are black and white enough and it is not a question of subjective or psychology. Honestly, I just don't care enough what other people do. As long as it is not affecting me or forcing me to accept things I don't want to. That is my beef with the promotion of pronouns etc. And you are still taking a very very small percentage of trans people and trying to make an argument as if they are a statistically larger percentage. And Julius Caesar was bisexual and homosexuality was accepted in Ancient Greece. I don't think it's a new concept. |

feedthenation: ---Why is sexualilty transition not common in third-world countries but so prevalent in the west---is it because people have been exposed to all sorts of ideologies--- I'm not sure if not as uncommon as it is in the US. There is popular Bobriski for one. Also, when I was Lagos last Christmas, we went to Everyday People which was at some beach club/lounge. There were some "women" buzzing/dancing around our table/cubana. As I looked closer, I realized they were actually guys. Was somewhat surprised since it was Lagos and they seemed very comfortable. I was also a little miffed (if I want someone dancing in front of my table it better be real women). So, yeah would like to see the prevalence in Lagos/Naij, but not sure if the responses would lead to accurate results. |
