Havertz10: Our parents like that, it’s an archaic social norm that our generation would do away with.
Most people on Nairaland don’t know shit, ideally a woman wants to be affectionate, it’s their nature, we men abused that by turning them into useful assets, thankfully a significant proportion of women are getting educated, becoming more self aware and assertive, things will improve, ignore those people, they will adapt, they don’t have a choice
At the end of the day, if a woman loves you, she would easily afford you the same respect and attention, you don’t need a society norm to force her to give you that.
I don’t know how old your dad is but the measures that republicans are proposing doesn’t completely eliminate social welfare broadly, they just want to limit the number of users. Good post. The Republican proposals would have reduced pensions or eliminated them esp for people getting like 95% like my dad. There was a big push maybe 4 years ago (don't quote me on the exact time frame). They were basically trying to end the social contract of I believe the 60's which propelled a lot of people into the middle class. |

Mintum: Is this another Asiwere SonofLincoln/Abbeybailey in the building? What is all this rubbish of I've been in the US since 5? And so what? You are on a Nigerian platform and on a thread specifically opened for Nigerians interested in foreign politics to discuss it and yet you are whining about Nigerians discussing foreign politics. Is that not very stupid of you? If you don't want to see Nigerians discussing foreign politics then get the hell off Nairaland and go to a non Nigerian forum. I don't live in Nigeria and spend just weeks there when I do visit. So, I come here for news and insight. I don't argue or forcefully engage on Nigerian politics/culture etc. Because I know I don't have the base of understanding or information to even argue rationally. So, I listen, learn and try to get informed. Same should be true vis-a-vis those in this topic. I never argued against discussing the US or having opinions on it. My comment was more to two posters on this board who want to dominate this thread with mis-truths, alternate facts and propaganda, all while leaving the impression that they have a greater base of understanding of the US all the while never having set foot in the US or really studied it. So instead of learning and discussing based on a common set of facts, we are here arguing basic US facts of History, Law and Government. If you enjoy that, carry on. |

raumdeuter: Thanks for the explanation. I have been trying to figure out what it means and how soon can they conclude Special Prosecutors don't have a set timeline. They are independent of the Justice department so it's hard to stop them unless there is malfeasance. I would suspect he would try to wrap up by the middle of next year (indict, not indict), as far out as election season as possible. |

adamusuleiman11: MTG said she and other MAGAt Republicans have a plan to stop the special counsel:
"the special counsel which is nothing but a democratic party campaign arm to campaign against Donald Trump who is running for President in 2024.. They can tell Jack Smith he is not going to get much of a paycheck. It's going to be real simple. We are not going to do this. That's it. We're gonna stop them and we are gonna do it through the power of the purse " Yeah, she should have spent more time learning how governments work. The House is 1/2 of that purse, the Senate is the other. No such bill would pass the Senate. And to defund the Special Prosecutor they would most likely have to defund the whole Justice department. Good Luck with that. |

Havertz10: Trump is social vehicle that is used to express displeasure at status quo, there are so many dynamics at play but i’m guessing that your dad is black so it will most likely be the religious/ conservative angle that makes trump appealing to him. My hypothesis has been, Trump appeals to people who are scared of losing power. White Males etc. They are scared of losing Power to minorities and women. I think that is where my dad fits in. He's not white but a successful man. And so he enjoys the power the social construct of the past, esp. Nigeria's past affords him. He sees the loss of power from his own selfish vantage point and wants to cling on to it esp. when it comes to women. Look at all the misogyny and sexism on this board. It all stems from the believe that women are not equal to men or men are divinely superior. That is what my dad believes. He's not shy about telling his children or his wife that he is our Lord and we should obey him. lol. There's also the fact that he got his. And doesn't want anyone to displace that. What's sad and frustrating is that the Republican policies he advocates, if successful would directly harm him. He has a very very good pension (I think it was 95% of his salary when he retired) and his salary was very good. And so it's amazing watching him cheer on Republicans as they talk about scaling back pensions or scaling back Medicare, which he is on as well. |

SlyFoxx4Life: Listen to me clearly bro. I will say this just one more time; Bush too was a war criminal!!! I have said that several times before on this forum.
You just assume that because I have shown some support for Conservatism and Trump that means I’m a die hard party man. I don’t tow the party line like you democrats bro.
I hate American imperialism and Bush was one of the biggest proponents of that. Trump for all his faults was an isolationist and kept America out of wars for his entire term. Even you can’t argue with that unless you just want to prove you have severe TDS. But isolationism was what led to 9/11. We live in a global economy and what happens half way across the globe affects us. Isolationism isn't necessarily the best thing. But, you also misunderstand me. The same conservative psychology that elected Trump was the same psychology that elected "no-nothing" Bush. The same psychology that led to McCain wanting Sarah Palin as his VP. The same psychology that cheers on Desantis. The only person that was an outlier was Romney. |

They particularly fvcked up with that raid of Trumps house. I remember that day I was here telling all the jubilating fools that that day was a watershed moment in American political history and the Democrats would live to regret it. They were laughing at me. I said no problem. The Bile you regurgitate daily. They impeached Clinton for a BJ. Trump sic'd the Justice Department on Clinton's Foundation. They found nothing. IT was a watershed moment. The day an ex-President forced the DOJ to raid his house for TOP SECRET HIGHLY compartmentalized documents that had info about Sources and Methods. Stuff that would land you or I in jail for 20 years if we had it. Stuff so secret that there are a handful of people in the WORLD with access to it. Stuff so secret that if it got released, people would most likely die. You think somehow that if you went after Clinton or Obama, you would find similar, you are nuts. This is the GOP's M.O. Looking back at the midterms, one thing we all should not forget is that the House of Rep gavel is going to the Republicans. Peloshit has been fired! That's a huge win (given that the demonrats did all they could to rig the election). And talking about US elections, me I believe that the "fair and transparent" views about that country's election is a complete ruse, sham, doctored and at best pre-planned. I don't believe in their election outcome. Huh? Why would you like to think it's not from Pompeo? Do you believe his account was hacked? Or someone drugged him to say that? He's made similar statements last week. People are literally substituting what they "think or believe" over objective fact. How is any of this not delusional. |

kkins25: We were misinformed of the pathology of the COVID, although i acknowledge the positive effect of the 'drugs.' None the less, bearing in mind that the ruling party defines what hate speech, conspiracy theories and misinformation is, how then do we ensure that objective hate speech, etc. is defined? Who defines these?
What is misinformation? A few centuries ago, a wise man was placed under house arrest because he didn't think the earth was the center of the universe. A few more centuries back, somebody was crucified by the 'government' because he claimed the 'government' wasn't true to it's people. History has proven both instances to be right. Fewer centuries ago, people were killed for their skin color and the so called institution of truth supported it. Do you demo-cats know the implications of this subliminal communist ideas you are promoting?
SBZ stole money, but everything is on stalemate, because, knowing that truth is subjective, he, SBZ, donated money to the government in power. So in this case, if i call the current administration criminals, would that be hate speech?
If we completely block out the opposing side, how would humanity progress? What then is democracy? aren't we heading towards Beijing that we so much criticize for it's 'evil' socialism? What is the pathology of Covid and how was it misinformed. When you reply, please quote 2 peer reviewed studies or sources. Thanks. |

Your post and logic are incoherent. benalvino3: firstly, point me to a post where I said you talked about being a politician or president. This is what you wrote below. Do you not understand what you wrote? Talking about what a Politician or President does, doesn't mean you are a Politician or President. So why would I then need the experience of having been a Politician or President? Again your logic is incoherent. benalvino3: Have you experienced being the president? Or a politician? Take your advice and zip it because you believe you don't understand it due to lack of experience. This is a nonsensical argument below. You sound silly even making it. benalvino3: so because you live in the US, you have experienced the US. I have not lived in the US so when saying the Sky in the US is Blue it must be wrong if you say it is not because you EXPERIENCED THE US. Next you'll be arguing the earth is flat. I already explained why it's ridiculous in another post. Read it. Do better, sound smarter. benalvino3: I ask you again, are all the Bimbos agreeing with you or spewing Leftwing BS... How many of them have you asked if they are from the US? or have LIVED IN THE US? Bimbo ke? Lol. Typical. Why do all you types revert to sexism and misogyny. It's reveals your character, your lack of education and lack of upbringing. benalvino3: are you a child? living in the US these days discredits one's ability to be coherent. Does it really. My education from one of the top schools in the world discredits my ability to be coherent? Lol. Do tell. Lol. Our posts are an easy indication of who is coherent. benalvino3: I never talked about you traveling or your money, Did you forget you wrote this below? benalvino3: Sounding like the Oldman who is still trying to reach Nigeria since this time last year after he booked a cheap flight for $2 You seem not to be aware that what you type is saved. The word "Like" is generally used to denote two things are similar. ex. "You sound like an idiot". Which is analogizing you to an idiot. But I am glad you are trying to back track. benalvino3: I don't know you and I don't think we will cross paths. This is probably the truest thing you've said. I won't be an a*s about it. But I keep my circle tight and it doesn't include misogynists. |

What a gullible simp.
Sounding like the Oldman who is still trying to reach Nigeria since this time last year after he booked a cheap flight for $2 I think you can't fully understand anything if you haven't experienced it. And once you experience something it'll probably change your perception of it. So, basically, without experiencing it, you are believing the perception of whatever source you are reading/listening to. Ex. We can talk about all the racism in the US, but until you've had a gun pulled out on you(4 times in my case), for doing nothing (1 time when I was 14, going to tutor at Sat. school, cop thought I was a drug dealer because I had a backpack, another when I was 16 outside my prestigious highschooler, someone called and said they thought I had a gun). FYI, you should probably keep this to this matter. I'm the wrong person with all that nonsense. Before the Pandemic, I was in Nigeria/Lagos/Ikoyi at least 4 times a year. Most of the time last minute tickets because my g/f was complaining. |
