Gerrard59:The logic here is specious at best. You start with a questionable premise as to why Nigerians don't support Trump, use a specious at best unsupported stat to then make another questionable generalization. 1.) Most Nigerian Americans don't support Trump and Republicans because Republicans allow racism in their party and formulate policy based on that Racism. And so that racism affects everyday life in the US and portends bad things for black children of Nigerian Americans. That racism also then extends to immigration policy. Like Trump's quotes about good and bad immigration. In a White House meeting with members of Congress this week, President Trump is said to have suggested that the United States accepts too many immigrants from "shithole countries" in Africa and too few from countries like Norway.2.) Then you use an unsupported stat, increased visa denial rates. But have you drilled down on that stat? Have you checked whether there has been a recent increase in applications from Nigeria (would seem like it giving the economic conditions in Nigeria). Have you looked at the incidence of fraudulent applications comparatively in the various countries and how that accounts for Visa denials? All those would drive the denial rate up. I haven't drilled down to the data, but I'm sure you haven't either. And so, the stat doesn't make the point you think it does. At least for people used to studying data. 3.) Then you use all that to say "Democrats are less "racist" than the GOP is mere semantics", while leaving out the pure historical and contemporaneous reasons why African Americans believe the Republicans to be more racist. Just look at the Republican convention and the admitted Racists allowed to speak (Hulk Hogan, for one). This was a very very weak argument. If I were grading it for any student I mentored, I'd give it a D-. A D- just because you tried and wrote some words on the paper. |
ogbonti:Trump is a known racist. He continued the "proud" legacy of his father who was sued for racial discrimination. https://apnews.com/article/fact-check-trump-racism-election-obama-018824651613 The Republican party is home for racists and White Supremecists. |
Empega:Not every sports legend is a person we need to look up to. I'm surprised Trump had him speak. Actually, it has been reported that Trump calls black people "Nigg*rs", so birds of a feather. Trump is not a serious person. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eb_7ZCbuBbc
|
bemeruca:Hey self hating racist, you should probably go and google what racism means. One of those clips is racist, the other one isn't. |
feedthenation:Well said. I haven't listened to him speak in a while... I forgot what a rambling, incoherent mess of nonsense he was. That has to be one of the worst nomination speeches ever given. |
Laurene:Mr. Laurence. I think you're a lying troll and propagandist. There's no way you watched that speech and wrote that nonsense. Is that staying on topic? There was no moderate who watched that speech and said they would vote for Trump. Period. I watched that CNN townhall of "Undecided" voters. They weren't all undecided. The tell that some of them weren't undecided is that they gave him an "A" for the speech and then immediately after said the speech caused them to decide to vote for Trump. The speech was objectively terrible and concerning. They were lying. Any person who gave that speech an A and then said it changed their mind is a LIAR and was already voting for Trump. It's akin to anybody watching Biden's debate and saying it caused them to vote for Biden. They'd be lying too. |
Empega:Unfortunately, not every sports legend is a good person. I can't rock with racists. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eb_7ZCbuBbc
|
Laurene:This is pure propaganda. What does this even mean? Trump's speech was objectively poor and rambling. If you can't admit that, you're lying. This is the difference between the two parties. One lives in a cult bubble and spreads propaganda, the other can call a spade a spade. |
basilico:Dude spend some time googling Shorts. When shorting you are gambling the price on the Stock will go lower. You are basically borrowing a stock and selling it at the current price. Fri. the price was 31. So if the price drops to say 25. You can buy it back at the price and return the borrowed share. So, you would make $6 per share. If Trump was shot, DJT would probably bounce in the short term (as it did now), knowing how nutty Trumpers are. It's 38. So, the person who took the short position would have lost $7 per share right now. But they can hold on to the short position, maybe in the long term it would drop as he is the driver of the Stock. But that's a gamble. But others may have different thesis of what would happen. I'm sure people can argue both sides. But DJT is going to crash. It is overvalued. A short position on it is nothing out of the ordinary. |
basilico:If they shorted it friday, they would have lost money on Monday, at least Monday morning. |
basilico:Sat after the shooting one of my boys asked if I had bought DJT( (he can't due to his Job), thought it would go up on the goodwill. I agreed. Easy call. But missed it in after hours trading. Didn't think to short it as I generally don't short plus just wanted to make a quick turnaround. But if you spent less time posting bullshit about a country you don't live, you might know what a short position is. And get you some friends with money so you can talk about money. #noliesoverhere

Republican National Convention dubbed 'the Grindr Superbowl' after gay dating app crashed due to spike in users in Milwaukee No wonder homosexuality is always on their minds. Gay hookup app Grindr crashed after a spike of users around Milwaukee on Tuesday – the location of the Republican National Convention (RNC).

Decided to watch this rambling mess of a speech. What a mess! But, by the looks of it, a lot of Republicans are having a great time.
|
RingRoadCartel:Please, this is nonsense. Israel never wanted a Palestinian state. At least one that would really be a state. The goal was to do their periodic "mowing of the lawn" and to continue developing settlements that would make a Palestinian state impossible. At least they are finally being honest. |
happney65:Yeah, they think that Biden gives them the best chance of winning. Though I don't think they'd even win with him on the ballot. Trump has a hard ceiling. Everyone knows who he is. And that's not changing. Yeah. Dems do what Dems do though.. wet the bed. Trump could eat a crying baby on live TV and Republicans would still support him. But, either way, it's ok. I think Biden would have still been an effective President. If you listen to this speeches and interviews, taking out the gaffes, it's clear he still has a profound understanding of policy. Something that Trump doesn't come close to. In terms of accomplishments that would move the US forward, he's probably been one of the better Presidents. Maybe even better than Obama. But I don't think he should have run. He'll be 81 and Father time is undefeated. We are in a inflection point in the US. We need a President who can strongly vocalize what the US needs and push back against the BS that the GOP is pushing. I think that was one of his biggest failures in the debate. He knew his policy, but he didn't trash Trump and the BS that came out of his mouth. The new President is going to have to deal with the Supreme Court, may have to end the filibuster to pass abortion rights, will have to do something about the Media Landscape (too much purposeful mis/disinformation) and will have to deal with the Middle East. Need someone both with new ideas(though was pleased with his proposal on the Supreme Court) and the ability to use the Presidential bully pulpit. When I was younger, I read about Lucius Cincinnatus. I felt he represented what it meant to serve. He left his farm to lead during an emergency. After the emergency he went back to his farm. There are other people who can lead. Biden has done his work, has led us through the emergency and did it well. I think it's ok that he goes back to his farm and enjoys his family who Republicans have mercilessly attacked. But either way, I think it's ok. Democrats will always be the grown ups. Fortunately and unfortunately. |
bemeruca:A a self hating black racist defending a racist. Who would have thunk. |
Hulk Hogan to speak at the RNC. Trump sure seems to love his racists. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eb_7ZCbuBbc
|
basilico:I see as the RNC meets the R epublican-Wannabe N utters C onvention is meeting here. Keep at it Basilico. Might want to up your medication dosage though. Looks like at least 10 conspiracy laden posts the last 24 hours. |
basilico:This nut wants to buy into a conspiracy theory but doesn't even understand how it works. Lol. Nutters. Fux.. Tried to buy DJT after hours on Sat. was already too high. Should have shorted it instead. Shorts aren't in my DNA though. |
Gerrard59:Is it classist to believe you can't understand racism fully if you've never been in environment where you aren't in the majority racially? Fortunately for a lot of those people in this thread, cheering racists and cooning away, they will never have to experience it. You argue about fact based debates, and now argue that you can somehow have full knowledge of things without actually experiencing them. Does that sound rational to you? I am Nigerian and spend tons of time in Nigeria, but I even understand my limitations when discussing Nigeria. It's ok to understand your limitations. We will never know what we don't know. There are tons of Black people doing amazing things in Math and Science. You should figure out why you think "black people" hate numbers and fact based debates. Maybe reflecting on it will illuminate your own biases, insecurities and deficiencies. Insecurities like figuring out why you thought I was boasting about being "abroad", because I said you can't understand racism without being in a place where you may experience it. |
Gerrard59:Oh, did you expect me to have a discussion with you on whether "black people generally hate numbers and fact-based debates."? Leaving out the fact that, ironically, your argument was not fact based, that post was drenching with coonery and inherent racism. Given that, you seem unexposed or psychologically damaged and so generally not worth my time. In this Trump era, where Racism seems to no longer be a taboo, I have less patience for it. Surprisingly you are not alone. I've found that there are a lot of self hating black people on this forum. I'm not sure why. Generally, it's people who have never left Nigeria, who somehow believe their skin color isn't really black or they would be considered the exceptional black skinned person. I see it a lot more in the American Politics thread. |
Laurene:Posts like this read like someone who knows little about the US and gets most of their opinions on some blog they get to by firing up their VPN. Oh yeah. That is who you. As if Desantis had some option to preempt a Federal court approved subpoena. Jesus. The fuckory of it all. The damage right wing media has done is incalculable. Lost brain cells reading this. |
Gerrard59:So much coonery and broad racist generalizations in this post. |
djon78:The majority of Trump voters are Uneducated/Undereducated. Trump's support is derived mostly by white non-college educated men who paint themselves victims, and despise black people and minorities, because they feel they are keeping them from success. The states that support Trump are generally dead last when it comes to any metric. Education, Income per Capita, Life Expectancy. etc.etc. In fact they are mostly welfare states, receiving more from the Federal government than they give to the Federal Government in taxes. Google any of it. That is what you are supporting. Yes, Nigeria is in a mess. And for us to grow, we must erase the logic of voting for a convict who is a liar and who corrupts anything that he touches, including the Justice System. And fyi, your argument may work if I wasn't an American citizen. Focus on facts and less on insults. Your way of thinking is what roots Nigeria in failure. |
djon78:Devoted, like he's their God? Devoted to a man who says he grabs women by the kitten? You say it so cavalierly as if there is nothing wrong with it. |
ElSudani:You're right. But there is more to it. I'm sure she is scared that if she takes Biden's call she will incur the wrath of people who donated close to $5 million dollars to the gofundme set up for victims of assassination attempt. https://www.gofundme.com/f/president-trump-seeks-support-for-butler-pa-victims Trump has thoroughly corrupted the US |
bemeruca:Lol. You are wholly incapable of being truthful. You are a LIAR. You lie about everything. You lie about what country you live in to your friends. There is a time in life when you'll be given a lesson the hard way about lying. You are really truly a trash person. Through and Through. |
bemeruca:Lol. The community note was on the original tweet and subsequently downvoted. The conversation downvoting it is attached to the original tweet which I linked. So. 1.) I know understanding how community notes work is too complex for an idiot like you. 2.) You are a proven bona fide liar, so I never expected to you to keep your word. Pax, Liar.
|
bemeruca:This was the bet ijebosb:Remember the bet was If there is a community. or If there was a community note. There was a community note that was subsequently downvoted. https://x.com/_SammyGirl__/status/1812877129987870771 Be a man of your word. Goodbye!

I think this video/report is interesting. The father of the shooter and the owner of the rifle used to shoot Trump was profiled as part of a secret GOP project. He was rated 17th out of 19,320 people profiled in that area and was classified as a "Strong GOP Voter".
