Redomination is just a comestic dressing of a problem. Redomination is bad thing, It will cause inflation. For example, A banker salary is 50k cedis per month, transport to work to and from = 2k. A congo of garri 1k. Now Ghana redominate their currency by removing 3 zeros. Hence the teachers salary is 50 cedis (controlled environment). Transportation is supposed to become 2 cedis, it is not regulated so they can decide to make it 4 cedis. The person selling garri can sell her congo of garri to be 2 cedis instead of 1 cedi. Prices already doubled , the teachers purchasing power has reduced.

2 things to take away, redenomination doesn't add value per se. Instead it can cause inflation you have seen in the example. Because most don't know what is going on, they will just set their prices. One of the issues Ghana is facing. Upon that the money has depreciated more that 10 times after redenomination. You have to spend more in Ghana to get equal value in Naija, meaning what you will get for 200 naira in Naija, you might to spend 600 naira equivalent to get that. If the condition continue to get worse Ghanaians will start moving to Naija, Ivory coast etc provided they can get jobs.

If you sabi your math, you can see that after taking 1000 out, the cedis has lost values to $ about 11-12 times. To make it easy let's use 10 times. Hence the actual value of the cedis is 10×1000×1 = 10000. Hence $1 is now 10000 cedis. Hope that makes sense to you.

And you know dollar at a bank rate is a fraud. 700+ is that actually rate. When you create a bank rate, only selected people, people with connections will get it...bank officials, politicians etc are part of this. They will access the dollar at bank rate and sell to aboki at an instant profit. Common man like me and you can't get it. Govt you stop subsidizing it. They allow it to float at same rate with black market. Black market will cease to exist. People will easily go to bank to get dollars. Less demand for Dollar is what will boost Naira though.

One thing I learnt in Naija is that those that complain about tribalism everytime are the tribalist. I can 1000% say this is common with SE. Example is your post. SS, to some extent, also see things through tribal prism. Truth is Jonathan would have won if he had performed very well, he lost the election by himself. The SE also influenced Jonathan and SS with their hatred and poisonous mind towards SW, Jonathan ignored SW during his term, even at that he still got about 49% in his second election. Which leads to the second question, if SW voted Buhari due to Osinbajo, how come Buhari didn't have 70-90% of the votes like it was for PDPin SE and SS or for APC in the north? Even now with Tinubu, I can assure you that PDP will still get sizeable votes in SW because they don't do tribal votes. And it is only region that true elections takes place relatively to other regions. Or shd I say a place where every party has a voice relatively to other regions.

SE and SS always vote and rig en mass for PDP. So Ojukwu losing is not an evidence that SE don't do tribal vote. The difference this time around is that SE realized that PDP has always been using and discarding them when they didn't seed the presidency to SE. Reason they are moving to Labour party.

Regarding Jonathan, he was bad, reason he lost the election. But the idiot like you would never say SW voted for him en mass during his first election. I don't know if I shd call it a good deed, he planned the presidency right from the moment he became a governor.
