The Manifesto of Dumo Lulu-Briggs of Accord is supported by a never before seen Minifesto of action plans relating to individual local governments. His proposal was electrifying and visionary. In a State where gutter language and mannerisms are being exhibited at high quarters, DLB intellectual and civil approach to governance stands him head and shoulders (he is tall) above the pack. He should win the forthcoming Rivers State gubernatorial election.

Wike's track record is deadly and they know it yet they foolishly supported him just because of Jonathan. River state is pathetic.

Let us suppose you are married to a spouse from Rivers State. How would you see your words here written. When people write the words are permanent. You may not be right, so write soft words in case you have to come back to eat the words.

Education / Amaechi Rssda Trade Off Students On Medicine Scholarships In Uk by ilebaami: 4:44pm On Aug 20, 2014
Rip-off: Amaechi, RSSDA Trade Off Medical Students On Overseas Scholarship  ...Give Them Marching Order To Return Without Qualification

This may sound funny and incredible but it's indisputable that what could pass for a giant leap and landmark achievement of sending a good number of Rivers youths to the United Kingdom for Special studies in Medicine through Gov Amaechi's Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) was only a goof.

Rather than registering them for the Medical Degree Programme (MBBS) for which they were awarded the scholarship to augment the few medical doctors for the numerous State health demands in the light of the newly built health centers across the State also for which millions of pounds were expended or purportedly spent, the students who are currently stranded and have been asked to return home were entered for courses other than medicine, a mistake the RSSDA accepted upon confrontation in 2012 by the State House of Assembly but subsequently kept repeating.

In the United Kingdom, students are not admitted directly for medicine after secondary education.

Prospective medical students are expected and must of necessity undergo an A-level programme and, or four years of premedical degree followed by a medical interview by the few universities that offer medicine in the UK.

Because it's not all the Universities that offer medicine in the UK, the percentage offered to international students (the rest of the world) is only 6, making it very competitive.

But having been subjected to undergo these undergraduate programmes that are equally offered in Nigerian Universities like Pharmacology, Biomedical science, Biochemistry etc, which they successfully completed and a good number of them qualifying to start the medical course proper (MBBS), the RSSDA had asked them to come home as though the premedical degree was what they were offered the scholarship for.

Consequently, the agency has stopped paying their upkeep and  accommodation allowances including their  tuition fees.

In response to the lamentation of the stranded students, one Mrs Ogechi Odu of the RSSDA replied the students inter alia: “We had expected to receive funds from our funding authorities to enable us discharge our responsibilities to students and the Universities.

Further to this, payment of your last and final allowance for June and July as ex-gratia has remained unpaid. Because of the time it has taken for this payment to happen which is still being awaited, you would have incurred some expenses including rent on accommodation for August, management has granted one additional month allowance for August.

We hope to make your payments in naira upon your return in the event that we did not receive funding before the date of your return.

Consequently, we advise you to please give us your return date for us to provide you a return ticket as we will Not be responsible for your stay beyond August 2014, kind regards.”

Still at a loss, the students besides being compelled to return home without actualizing their dreams to become medical doctors for which they were offered the scholarship, said their expenses were incurred in the UK in pounds and cannot be allowed to leave without paying off these debts.

Frustrated as much as their children and wards, the parents of the affected students had cried out to Governor Amaechi as well as who cares to listen that what should have ordinarily been a thing of joy to the government and people of Rivers State, the extra ordinary performance of the students that just have been offered provisional admission into UK medical schools, has been frustrated by outright refusal of RSSDA to continue sponsoring them.

These aggrieved parents are therefore calling on Gov Chibuike Amaechi to as a matter of urgency intervene directly, arguing that the claim by RSSDA that the students have competed their degree programme for which scholarship was offered was untrue and a calculated to mislead the government, adding that all efforts to meet with the Secretary to the State Government, George Feyii to discuss the issue have been fruitless due to the SSG's evasiveness.

But the underlying fact remains that since the commencement of the RSSDA overseas scholarship scheme, only about four out of the estimated 250 students have secured admissions into medicine and three of them through A-Levels.

The low rate of admission is primarily due to RSSDA placing the students in inappropriate programmes and institutions such as business schools yet both the agency and Gov Amaechi are boasting of sponsoring Rivers Medical Students abroad for which he (Amaechi) has received undeserved applause.

What a deceit, the aggrieved students have cried out.###

On fleeing abroad he got into photo-journalism which brought him fame and fortune. Now we see him image-laundering for moneybag miss-roads like Governor Amaechi. He has delved into political journalism and expectedly depleted his limited intellect. What is left of his career is verbosity, grandstanding and megalomania. You wrote "The divisive tendencies of tribe and religion, which have become more pronounced under Jonathan". Can you explain further?

I understand that part of the propaganda is to repeat wicked lies as often as possible hoping the lies may by so doing transmute to truth.

Can you explain to us how "divisive tendencies of tribe and religion" have become "more pronounced under Jonathan"? Is it in terms of project sitting in the country or appointments? What else do people ask for after electing a govt if not for projects and policies that'll make their lives better? So how has GEJ made "divisive tendencies of tribe and religion... more pronounced"
in these areas? Pls explain.

Can you explain to Nigerians why you'r online always attacking the president? Why would any normal human being spend a better part of his time attacking another? Is not because of tribal bigotry?
This is like placing logic on its head. You attack the govt for the obvious reason that the head of that govt is not from your tribe, then you turn around to
blame the president and those who support him as being clanish. The shame is on you.
I am so very disappointed with the bigotry being exhibited by young Lagos residents in the main. Most are Yoruba who have very little exposure to the rest of Nigeria. Fashola, their hero is ordinarily not quality material like Agbaje. Even Jakande attended King's College and you could see originality in his radical approach. Fash is a product of lowly Birch Freeman which was not top 20 in the Lagos of his time. Fash is wobbling by showcasing ' Eko for show projects ' that the Lagos economy cannot sustain. Bigots beware. Your heroes are paper tigers. Your empire is collapsing!

Listen every Nigerian knows that GEJ and his team are doing well for Nigeria and they deserve an applause. But the truth still remains that he turns a blind eye to corruption. He's too weak to confront other politician and he's too ambitious not to prosecute anyone in order to win the coming 2015 election. He wants to be a goody-2-shoes even at the detriment of the Nigeria economy.

Let's tell ourselves the truth for once. I like GEJ but his take on corruption is my problem and it is unacceptable to well meaning Nigerians.
GEJ cannot fight corruption stupidly the way OBJ did. During and after OBJ did corruption stop? GEJ is eliminating the sources of leakages by minimizing Government involvement in business such as privatization of NEPA, refineries etc. The forthcoming Confab will localize whatever is left of corruption to people in your locality whom you must now begin to PAY YOUR TAXES TO. Then will you leave your armchair, regularise your licenses, prove your credentials, certificates and documents and get ready to battle anyone who asks you to settle. If you know you hate GEJ, simply say so.

Anyhow, Clarion was somewhat more up-class than Shina though.

Politics / Re: Presidency Reaches Out To Amaechi, Nyako, Others by ilebaami: 11:17pm On Nov 28, 2013
chimchim1: Despite the hard line posture of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Presidency has opted to reach out to the aggrieved governors and leaders of the New PDP to give room for the completion of peace talks with President Goodluck Jonathan.
The aggrieved governors- Rotimi Amaechi, Murtala Nyako, Abdulfatah Ahmed, Aliyu Wammako and Rabiu Kwankwaso- defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday.
According to sources, who pleaded not to be named, a security chief has since Tuesday been reaching out to the aggrieved G-7 governors to honour the President on Sunday by attending the resumption of peace talks.
It was learnt that the security chief made the governors to realise that the ill-health of the President accounted for the shift of the meeting.
It was gathered that the security top brass said even if the governors had taken their decision, it is proper to allow the conclusion of talks with the President.
A source, who spoke in confidence, said the intervention of the security chief was as a result of the likely implications of an all-out-battle between the President and the governors.
The source said: “The top security brass has been begging the governors to return to the negotiation table because of likely degeneration of the political situation in the country.
“His fear is that the implosion in PDP may ground governance to a halt, in view of the attitude of some hawks in the ruling party that the President should adopt a tit-for-tat measure against perceived political adversaries.
“The consequence of the crisis on the 2014 Budget became obvious following the probability of APC controlling the majority in the National Assembly, especially the House of Representatives.
“So, there is pressure on the governors to have a rethink. The security chief has contacted some key Northern leaders and traditional rulers to intercede.”
As at press time however it was learnt that the aggrieved governors, with the exception of Governors Sule Lamido and Babangida Aliyu, were yet to make any commitment to have meeting with the President on Sunday.
Another source said: “Mr. Rotimi Amaechi told those making the overtures as follows: ‘I won’t attend any meeting on Sunday since I am no longer in their midst.’
“The governors are skeptical about the sincerity of the President to the resumption of peace talks. He is using the session to gauge the feeling of the governors and determine when to strike against them.
“The governors and New PDP leaders have merged with APC; it is presumed that the reconciliation process is dead.”

Politics / Re: Oduah To Present 20-yr-old Plane To Jonathan At National Carrier Inauguration by ilebaami: 7:26am On Nov 26, 2013
Italiano1:

This is the problem with some NL posters- lack of comprehension and a penchant for butting in arguments that they do not know the genesis of; apart from the ludicrous list you have written up there, you even bizarrely claimed to be arguing from an intellectual standpoint. I laugh!

1. So because no country has banned the use of old planes, it is OK for a newly established National carrier to buy planes that are 20 years old. What exactly is your point here?

2. Most Airlines have a mix of old and new airplanes because they have been operating for years! When they

commence operations
, credible airlines order new airplanes - of course as they years go by, they would retain airplanes that are still functional and pass quality tests. What reputable airline would start business with 20 year old planes and expect to have a successful long term business?
Eagle Air is just commencing operations and as such, your argument is invalid.

3. Your third point is perhaps the most derisory of all, you want the ICAO to lecture you that the older a mechanical contraption gets, the higher the probability that it would fail to perform at optimum and hence becomes susceptible to accidents? That point was clearly a joke- right?

4.You say ICAO has accredited Nigeria as having one of the safest aviation practices- you could have kindly provided a source for your claim. Regardless, there is a major difference between practices, processes, procedures on the one hand and the performance of an airplane . The fact is that the older a plane is, the less reliability it has in terms of quality and performance

I just cannot understand how some people can unashamedly support actions that might have a negative effect on them or their family members all in the name of sycophancy. Nigerian administrators have always compromised the quality of goods and services procured on behalf of the citizenry-
second hand public buses, third- hand trains, and now they are celebrating the commencement of a new airline with planes that were manufactured in 1993 when Jonathan goodluck was in his mid thirties

It is ok for the Minister of Aviation to buy brand new bullet proof cars but it is totally complicated and complex to buy airplanes that would facilitate the success of the new airline and significantly lessen the probability of air crashes or incidences occurring.

The plane that is displayed for the launch may even be a "dummy" as is commonplace in marketing events. Oduah haters have a real big problem. The dependable Aero Contractor plane being flown this morning may be over 20 yrs old, so why can it not be repainted for a launching to sensitize the public, and build momentum and finance for the impending operations. New planes do not come off supermarket shelves. Haters are dumb.

Also, if Nigeria is ruled by a Majority person he will depend too much on his power and tribe to seek the face of God. You are a child if you do not know the power of God in governance.
