Is it me or is something wrong? That looks to me like a typical winter/Christmas setting and it is just Autumn right about now. @Justwise and other Mods, please keep an eye on this person and whatever intentions he might have. I stand to be corrected though...

tonychristopher:

with all due respect I hope that I didn't offend your sensibility ..if I did I apologize

we are here to have what is called a re orientation and rethink

we can't be this way..we can't be begging the west for aids and grants we can't be going to west for treatment we can't abandon research and development we can't allow some people to drag us back ..we can't allow Africa to be laughing stock we have to be a beacon

yes truth does hurt but a great man us the man that accepts the truth

we can't assume all is well

I completely agree. Hence, the reason why in my first comment on this thread, I agreed we do have a problem. I just differ with you on the issue of terming a particular set of people over isolated cases. That is because some of our problems are inherent in these beliefs whether we like it or not. I am from the South-West, but I have family friends who have become families from the South-East and I have been to their core eastern villages in both Enugu and Anambra States during festivities. In addition, I have also been to almost every part of the country. Therefore, you should know I know enough to let you know such beliefs as you have are not only wrong, but bias and hope you can pause a minute to reflect on this.

Back to the topic: What I always advocate is a difficult, if not an impossible one. That is going back to societal basics and self reflection as a people. Even here on Nairaland, we see people bashing each other on the basis of tribe and political affiliations. We heap blames on our leaders, yet forgetting the fact that they are also products of the same society. People screaming for a revolution should take a clue from the Arab spring which has failed to achieve much if not for descending the countries into total chaos. In our own case, even if we revolt successfully; the new leaders will also come from the same societies and then the story continues all over again.

If we can re-engineer our societies and give re-education a chance, it could re-invigorate upcoming generations into giving more. The present generation can only try; I won't be placing a huge chunk of bet on us however, as the term 'All man for himself' is the order of the day at present. Just my humble submission.

sir

apart from my experience I did research and had what is called random sampling and there are inherent factors and indices of a particular group or unit ...thus I arrive at a conclusion

that was my submission but that doesn't mean I am generalizing but there is a higher tendency in a particular set

Speechless... There is no gain in replying.

tonychristopher:

it has nothing to do with been sarcastic what we should understand is that blacks feel intimidated by progress

they were dealing with individuals I employ a different strategy and started dealing with organizations ..this made my output to quadruple but he won't understudy buy jealous

now you have shown that tendency here. instead of tackling the issue you brought sarcasm here. I am not been sacarstic I am a man that call a spade a spade not a shovel

my wife has experienced this also ...I have notices that some set of people in Nigeria are just OK with complacency and docility

the black man will always dance party and not think...this is the problem

communication skills isn't a requirement where I was working but productivity

many people are more of liars and term it communication skills ....you will see an office instead of focusing on productivity you see people focusing on eye service

to be blunt there are some certain people I just can't work with due to inherent traits in them ....from experience and others experience ....

I have those that abhor competition and love quota system

I am a believer that competition brings the best out of an individual ...but Herr you see hate

look at the country today they are bombing and killing themselves for the singular fact that a man from minority is the president. .instead of supporting him they will try to pull him down

just despicable

With all due respect, Sir. Don't you think the fact that you keep trying to emphasize on a particular set of people is also part of our problem? Do you think other sets of people don't have their issues or even worse? Terming everyone under a blanket because of the experience(s) you might have had in the past does put you very well in the bracket of the complaint this thread was all about in the first place.

WhyNa:

Thanks. Do you think its possible that I use the legalized copy? Nyways, I guess the school will answer best. Tnx U guys

Definitely not for Finland. My suggestion was possibly you could have another school in mind from the other country that might request a paper version of your documents and not just to scan them online.

@OP, When I saw your write-up, I knew a lot of people would get you wrong the same way I have always argued this motion since time immemorial. What people do not understand is that the fact you brought this up does not mean you refer to every single black person or African descendant like many people would prefer; that will mean generalization and ignorance. However, I have wondered on this same issues myself for a long time. Australia is one of the richest countries in the world but you will be moved to tears when you study the plights of the aborigines. Many people in the pacific nations of Vanuatu and Tonga for example are still naked. South-Sudan is the newest nation in the world and they could not hold their stuff together for a couple of years even with the resources they have.

Nigeria as a nation has been blessed with everything to be a world giant yet the ordinary Nigerian cannot enjoy the simple benefits of social amenities which even tiny nations in Europe like Macedonia enjoy; even when their citizens will be the first to admit their country is a poor one. We could blame the white man for everything, and hell yeah; some of the conspiracies are true of them setting us backwards and economically disadvantaged. However, my question is why can't we be the the captains of our own ship and masters of our fate? Even the kings during slavery sold off our people for mere stuff such as mirrors. I do not have the answers but I do admit that we do have a problem and I wonder if we can overcome this collectively as a race.

Yes oh Bro it was just a suggestion. I graduated from another EU country myself and didn't even need my Uni to send my transcript to Finland. Just got one copy, made up to 10 photocopies and made them sign and stamp every page. They were just as good as the originals and served me in applications to different countries. Na still our Naija system no just dey treat our people right.

WhyNa: Hey Fellas, been a while. Got lots on my mind plus prepn/thinkn bout my upcoming exam. Nyways, I'v got a challenge and I need help. I intend applying for masters degree in another country too and applications start in September. On the issue of transcript (bear in mind that IMSU charges 30K + runs fee), I am allowed to upload a scanned copy of transcript and present the original myself if I am granted admission. However, Finland wants me to send a direct copy to them from my school.

Tough call.....
1. If I get the transcript now for 30k plus, I get a scanned copy and a sealed one and can comfortably apply in the other country of my choice
2. By December, Finland application starts and I'm not allowed to send that copy I have by myself.

Advice would really be appreciated at this moment.....

Please Note: I do not want to pay double now though I might eventually do that if I am granted admission on the other side
I can't just request for a scanned copy or pay now and ask the school to kip the transcript with them till December before sending t5o Finland.

I have already sent out mails to Finland Admissions and also put calls through to IMSU. In the mean time, advices or inputs from people who have gone through similar situations are welcome to comment.

@Whyna, unfortunately, it is unfair that transcripts should cost that much. However, it seems the best option is what has been suggested to get the scanned copy and hold on to sending until December. For the second country, you can print the scanned copy and legalize at the high court at your convenience; who knows? It might be useful at some point. Best of luck on your upcoming exam!

Nedu09: Guys please help me with this: (1) if one is in Denmark would he apply?

(2) my school transcripts use to bear the name of the proposed school. now if i send it to uni-assist would they process it to other universities or could that be i will purchase up to 4 transcript from school bearing different universities name? I beg oh! Help

@Nedu09, just in addition to what @Eke40seven said. If you are already studying in Denmark or already completed studies there, you can also take one set of transcripts from your University, then photocopy as much as you want. Then take it back to the student's office to stamp and sign them for you and they are as good as the original. That was the same I used in applying to all the universities I applied to even though I did not use UniAssist but I applied to many countries. Best Wishes!

I tot you sending email to the embassy covers downloading the application form

An application form for a residence permit for studies in Germany is mandatory and sending an email doesn't make it any less so.

point of information sire, we are going to finland to study not to hustle. Personally, i prefer finland to other european countries because of the "free tution" clause. I wanted to study in UK, the running cost is almost #4million (other expenses not included) while going to finland will cost me less than 200k. In addition i have two friends over there and both earn at least 1500euros monthly from their 25hours per week work times (other "paroles"not included). Maybe "your friends" you mentioned are hustlers. this time next year i will be in finland and in two - six years i will be back to my country (six years, if am able to process my phd admission). Goodluck bro.

Good response @Adebasket97 and in fact mentioning Ukraine as an example when it regards Finland is a comedy series I would love to watch.

It aint funny at all. I am hoping to get it sorted tho before I get there. There are some students that sublet due to the fact that they would be spending a semester or 2 abroad. That could be a temporary option.

That's my hope also. Making calls everyday and hope something comes up. Best wishes with your search too.

I applied to them but got a rejection. I already have an admission from Uni Mannheim tho. Haven't gotten anyone here going to Mannheim either.

Very good you got accepted at Uni Mannheim. My friend was rejected at FAU too; I was told to write an addtional 2 paged essay to attain the treshold of 70points needed to be admitted. The only issue now is the fact that the search for accomodation isn't looking sexy in Nuremberg. Hope you are finding yours easier.
