When these diplomats are done eating fried rice, chicken and love peddlers in Abuja, the next thing they do is to start babbling rubbish. That's how a few of them came to Abuja a couple of years ago and told us that we had the fastest growing economy. |
With the exception of 3 students in a faculty, no 2.1 student in 16 years and of course the issue with condoms EVERYTHING the OP just stated goes down in ABU. Infact, there was a year that a department (geology) had no graduating student. |
For christ sake, how is this our concern? |
Its the impression that ALL women have given us guys. |
OP, did you just discover that CAN is an extension of FGN? |
@hemanwel. The physiology of our forefathers and this generation is quite different besides, they had proper knowledge of the preparation and administration of such drugs unlike the money crazed retailers of Agbo on our streets these days who are willing to cook up anything in the name of local drug to make money. A friend of mine suffered intestinal damage and spent 4 months on a hospital bed with the bill of his treatment almost amounting to 600 grand for just 50 naira Agbo he took for malaria. |
It is sad that most Nigerians are still ignorant of the damage that Agbo and some of these local drugs can cause to their GIT (gastrointestinal tract). Agbo is the liquid extract of the stem and bark of plants, these extracts at room temperature usually have a shelf life which can range from a few hours to a couple of days after which they become toxic. Most of the Agbo that are sold on the streets are already toxic and on top of that they are usually taken at the wrong dosage. We should be cautious of the kind and source of Agbo we ingest. |
As far as I'm concerned, class of degree is just a coy to cut down the number of applications per job opening by recruiters, it has got nothing to do with the intellect or competence of the applicants. Most of our 'ogas at the top' graduated with 2.2's, 3rd and pass. OP, remain positive, pray hard and hopefully God will bring along your oga at the top that is gonna take you to the next level. |

UNIILORIN and ABU should be in the top four at the very least. What the heck is ESUT doing on that list? Kinda makes one doubt the credibility of the ranking. |
I've read through a few comments and a lot of 'em make absolute sense but I think the real reason behind this problem is the high level of admission craze in Nigeria. Every student wants to be in school cos the status of being an undergrad increases his/her 'rep' among their peers so most students are willing to accept any course of study to have that title. |
My brain cos over the years it has given me serious recognition. |
Apples do not fall far from the tree. It might be that you are suffering from a genetic condition as you just might have inherited a nasty gene from one of your parents. OP, is your dad abusive? If he is then it might just be the genesis of your troubles for these reasons: Sometimes genes require certain environmental conditions for their effect to be fully expressed, if mom or dad is/was abusive then what you are experiencing now is not your fault. Also, most girls are attracted to male figures that have had the most influence on their lives, so if daddy is abusive you are bound to be attracted to abusive men. If this is the case, I advise you see a shrink. |
'The battle is not ours but of the lord' says the good book. If its gonna bring lasting peace in the North and put an end to the bombings then GEJ should by all means do what he can to make it happen. I have lost loved ones to bombings and will not wish it on anyone. Its clear that FGN is clueless on how to stop these guys so if amnesty is gonna work I don't see y we shouldn't support GEJ. Granting these guys amnesty is a zillion times better than loosing more innocent souls. Violence only fuels more violence so I don't see y Christian youths want to start unnecessary demonstrations. |
We are tired of reading about billion naira projects that never see the light of day. |
As much as I hate to admit it, I do not think those guys are far from the truth. During my service year I taught chemistry and biology to SS3 students and the fact is that a lot of kids in our high schools don't know jack. Imagine, students in SS3 being unable to identify simple laboratory glassware and apparatus like conical flask and tripod stands. Its sad cos at the end of the day those same students will sit for SSCE and pass with distinctions, gain admission into our tertiary institutions bribe/sleep their way through school and probably become lecturers some of which will teach our own kids. I feel pity for the next generation. I only pray that something is done and fast. |
A few months ago it was all about Tonto Dikeh now its Agbani. MOD's please do not bore us with Agbani's business like you did with Tonto. |

Arsen Wenger! |
I have been an arsenal fan since I was nine years old. Within the period that I have been a loyal supporter, I have witnessed the club pick up 3 EPL titles, 4 FA cups, 3 community shields, and yes! 3 emirates cup trophies. Within this same period I have also witnessed disappointing defeats in the finals of 2 FA cups, 3 community shields, 1 emirates cup, 1 europa cup, and the biggest of all which is the UEFA champions league final loss to Barcelona (this remains till date one of the saddest nights of my life). Not also forgetting to mention the eight barren seasons we have had and the exodus of great players over the years. One can say I have seen it all, the horrible and glory days. In spite of all these shortcomings my love for the club is still as strong as it was back then as a little boy (if not stronger). The qualities (patience, commitment, trust, financial stability….. etc) an ideal spouse is expected to posses are all embedded in an arsenal fan. If you date or marry an Arsenal fan below is a perfect illustration of what to expect: Only EPL club that has not been relegated; this indicates longevity in the relationship. Eight years without silverware but still amongst the richest football clubs; this indicates a financially stable relationship. Shrewd in the transfer market; kids of an arsenal fan will have a strong business management acumen. Despite all the disappointment fans are still keeping the faith and sticking to the club; this indicates fidelity, patience and commitment. Gunnerz fans, feel free to add……… |
I accidentally stumbled on this site about 8 months ago while randomly surfing the net. A thread caught my attention at the time (can’t remember the topic but I think it was something to do with a horrible first date). A lot of people responded with comments of varying extremes however, the comments of a particular user caught my attention and for the weeks that followed, I started frequenting NL as a guest. The more I visited the more I became acquainted with the usernames of active users and the uniqueness and ‘trademark’ of their comments especially the ones of this user in particular. Over the past few months, I think I have developed a crush the size of Mt. Kilimanjaro on this user. A lot of N.landers may think I am delusional……I mean having a crush on a user in a faceless forum is just crazy but think about it, what does it actually entail to know someone enough to have a crush? This question, although rhetorical will have different answers but I think a crush should not be based on only looks and physical attraction (I am yet to see the user’s picture). The good book says and I quote ‘from the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks’ or as in this case, the fingers type. I have read through a lot of this user’s topics and comments (which are quite a handful) and believe it or not, I have seen her heart. A woman’s heart is the most attractive thing about her and I have grown fond of this user’s heart and I think her heart suits me just fine. N.landers have you ever had a crush on a fellow N.lander? If yes, please share. |
Over the years the north has witnessed several religious and sectarian crises with the last 12 years being the worst in the region’s history especially in Borno, Kaduna, Kano, Plateau, and Bauchi. Fifteen years ago a town like Kaduna was only alive in the metropolis which was always congested and had overstretched facilities. Then we had fewer landlords and land owners. The crisis in the past few years has divided the entire state into two factions; north and south. As a result of this division, the southern part has witnessed a geometric expansion. Villages and suburbs in the area are gradually turning into towns and mini cities and more people are erecting buildings, starting businesses and owning landed properties. The biggest beneficiaries have been those residents in the metropolis that thought it wise to invest in real estate in Kaduna south before the start of the crisis. These residents are now smiling to the bank as a decent apartment in Kaduna south ranges from 150 – 300k per annum pending on where the property is located. This has provoked further expansion of the area as a lot of people are now encouraged to own landed properties and houses. I can categorically say here that if you are a worker/business man/woman that earns about a 100k or more monthly, with proper planning you can become a land lord in at the very least two years. The Boko Haram insurgency and bombings has also made most men in the north more responsible as they now hardly keep late nights and head straight back home after work to their families (visiting of beer parlors has sort of lost its appeal to them ). In general, people in the north are more aware of their surroundings and environment and in some areas a stranger is easily picked out by residents. The crisis has breached the divide among sects and denominations within the two most common religious groups in the region and has further united the congregation of each of these religions. |
