What do you do for a hobby Imani?[/quote]Well, i am currently coming to the end of my studies (Genetics) in Machester. Cant wait . For hobbies, i like to keep up with my music. I am more of a world music lover, i get slated for my love of different styles of music in different languages i don't understand I do get inspired by music be it contemporary dance, RnB, gospel, Rock, Indie, old skool, bollywood  :etc.

I like phphotographys well, take pictures and like to do interesting stuff. I don't take many personal pictures though . I like martial arts and would watch any Chinese movies i see. Even taken Taekwando classes in the past. I am also a bit of an internet addict I like to be informed about what is going on around me and i like politics, strangely, i like to watch Prime Ministers Questions on the net and listen to debates

I am glad that some men are bold enough to stay faithful to their wives. While the tendency to be unfaithfulness is stronger in men than in women, it is still no excuse to break a marriage vow. I have seen the hurt that sexual affairs have caused some people and believe me it is horrible. It is a major problem in Nigeria due to the fact that the society while it is against divorce on one hand, permits extra affairs on the other. An example is when a couple can't have children. The relatives begin to tell the man to have issues with other women outside so as to prove that ''he is not at fault''

I also back the men honest enough to admit their mistakes and hopefully learn from it. But their may be consequences that have to be faced these may be painful for both parties in the end. Honesty is always the best policy.

for me, i was born in the U.K. Ive got two main passports that i use, one is Chinese and the other a Nigerian Passport. Ive got a U.S passport too, but I prefer going around with my Chinese passport, We are the next rulers of the world, Go China , and u know, its kind of funny that the immigration officers always give me some extra time, and an extra look whenever I travel, whats a black man doing with a Chinese Passport? They can go verify all they want, mine is grade A authentic.

Worse, I usually don't speak english when I travel, to put more effect into the whole ordeal. If I don't speak French, I blow my Mandarin or Nihongo(japanese).

Any couple planning to marry must have genetic tests and not just for blood genotype. If they go ahead to marry, then they have to face the consequences of thier choices.  Most relationships, like someone said are not strong enough to last the challenges ahead. If AS couples marry, they can screen the foetus at each pregnancy to see if the unborn child will be okay. But be warned, it is a very emotional process.

Genetics is going to be the next big thing. Only a matter of time. I am currently having lectures on the history of humans. People have been trying to construct all types of phylogenetic trees using DNA markers to test evolutionary processes andd relationships as the old method of using fossil evidence is becoming unreliable. It is kind of mind blowing that humans have this natural desire to know things hence the search and reconstruction of past events including those that happened in the ice age and beyond.

Modern use of genetics while exciting on one hand may be uncomfortable on the other. In the UK, the government will be introducing biometric passports for all citizens. There is currently a debate in the House of Lords and the lower parliamentary houses about this. This passport will not only contain photographic and personal evidence but also your unique genetic fingerprint. This will make it easier for authorities to monitor and have information about everyone including genetic information such as blood genotype, blood group, history of familiar diseases like cancer, diabetes, heart problems etc. There are lots of ethical issues involved with this kind of information. There is a lot about infringement of privacy by both government and other bodies like insurance companies who could potentially use such information to discriminate. I think countries like the United States are already adopting this kind of passports. Please correct me if i am wrong.

Tell a bit about yourself. Like what kind of person you are, what you like, are expecting from any potential relationship etc. You dont expect just any girl to show interest all of a sudden without any concrete evidence.

As a geneticist, my advice is that every pregnant woman should be screened between 12-20 weeks for any foetal abnormalities espeacially sickle cell carriers. Then both patners have a choice on whether to have the baby or terminate the pregnacy. The ethics of such a situation am sure will continued be argued by some. Most pregnancies with problems especially developmental problems will miscarry naturally. But some survive and can be detected when screened and then a choice can be made. If termination(abortion) is not acceptable to some, adoption is an alternative.

For me it is simple. I look for 3 things.

1. Spiritual compatibility (both singing from the same hymn book ie same biblical understanding)
2. Mental compatibility (similar NOT same attitudes, perceptions to life in general)
3. Physical compatibility (i like what i see and vice versa, body laguage, charisma etc)

I havent mentioned love. I believe in commitment instead. I cant be commited to you if i dont love BUT i can love u without committing to u, if u see what i mean.  Love is a feeling that can overrule even the soundest reasoning, but with commitment i believe any relationship can go places.

Why is it so hard to engage the youths in the political process of our Land Everyone in the current system seems to be over 40 at every level-local, state and federal governments. If the youths being ignored then there will continue to be disenchanted and rather than be a positive influence will yield to criminal activities and the like. Surely it is time for the 'Babas' to pass the baton.

A lot of people seem to had had nasty experiences during their MYSC. I was thinking of 'serving' my country after graduating this summer. Oh well, wont bother now. I have been out of the country for a while and was thinking of coming back to reeducate myself with the way of life. That will clearly be a waste of time.

Just wondering how many clinical/molecular/ geneticists are there in the house. If there are, what are you doing with your qualifications? I am a final year undergraduate and can't wait to finish and graduate this summer. Yay!
